  1. loyale spi ? have seen a bunch pound out the center of the injector pintle on thiss injector the more worn the LESS feul it moves there wierd like that mabee a new injector
  2. i think the problem is the lack of a good way to hold the flywheel to get enuff tourque on the pully bolt. I biult a plate to lock the crank to tourque the bolt.
  3. funny thought i mixed up a roller cam with a hydro cam one day and had the wrong cam to match the valve train thiss ran ok but not good was the wrong profile. when i put cams side by side was very different is it posibble somewere you had thiss kind of mixup ? it still ran well but was just never right. Took me a long time to find thiss once the motor was togther and running.
  4. get lots of cars with bad wires coils 02s but they all still work good check engine light ect if the engines good it should work. most runability problems i see are mecanical ishues not component problems.
  5. thiss engine may pull harder on the maf and throw it out of range can you restrict the intake to the maf ? and have you tried it with the stock injectors ? and done a feul preshure reserve test ?
  6. new key new reluctor gear and new pully when you repair it check the crank for being worn down on end have had good luck peening the end of crank to fatten it up so pully fitts tighter
  7. all ej subarus seem to average 300kms on 30 $ consistatly give er take
  8. if you can see coolant leaking on the outside its getting into the oil on the inside
  9. on thoose cars a low brake peadal is always related to the rear brake addjusters stuck or run out of travel or backwards very very rare to see bad master and very commen to see rear brake problems
  10. any way to check valve clerance i run into it with 2.5ds were the valves are to tight and sett misfire codes is it smooth hot at idle ? also have seen a cupple bad mafs latly but runs very ritch when bad or super lean. if your engine uses hydrolic lifters mabee one or two of the hlas is stuck in full out position have had thiss problem to. and last thing check your compretion no sense chasing a problem if it has a low hole good to at least know what you have. On the buggy race engine i comp test it before i run it so i have a base of what the comp was before i started is a good referance to chase problems

  12. have many ecus of the 96-99 era have done some interchanging the 2.5d outbacks did not like the 2.2 legacy ecu gave me a high idle on startup but no egr codes but had to put the 2.5 ecu back in to get it to run right.
  13. 95-96 97-98 98-99 one is stamped twinn cam others are blank covers after 97 no hydrolic lifter engines
  14. same as addjusting 2.5 d take the head off is best way i built a tool to push the bucket down so i can slip the pucks out for 2.5 d . but the six I have no buckets for or shims so head whould have to be taken off. the dealer took thiss car back as the customer had just bought it from the dealer a month ago. sad part is they knew it had burnt valve when they sold it they were going to change the engine. After i located one for her kinda got burned on it but dident look like a nice motor job to do anyway.
  15. water pump not turning ? or gauge is lying or air lock
  16. i rebuilt a carb yesterday on a 86 gl std the antibackfire vacume line that comes off the egr valve was pluged with carbon and had colapsed in the air filletr box cleaned the line resealed the carb gaskets. Hooked up all the missing lines and worked very good. The timing had been cranked too far to try and get more power set that back to 8. The antibackfire curcit is a very critical part of the workings of the hitachi carbs and mingles with the exhaust syestem so it plugs easyaly most carb problems i see are from thiss curcut and lines being left off or put in wrong places the vacume diagram under the hood is the best info you will get .
  17. the preshure at high rpms is erelavent what maters is how long it takes to get preshure exactly. and how mutch preshure when hot at idle min 10 psi hot at lowest idle if less than that berrings are on there way out. I time the oil light on the first start cold and see how long it takes a good engine takes 1/4 second a bad engine takes 1-2 seconds for light to go out and any knocking on startup is bad
  18. had a 06 trbeca with burt valve at 160000kms other day was odd poping out the back and dead on #4 cly used engine was 3800$ and was non to be found localy. Was suprised that it failed in thiss way i thought the valves were tough in the 3.0
  19. can use the 2.5 wire harness on 2.2 intake
