  1. I really appreciate the offer but I dont really want to stock up on em cuz the whole cars worth of parts needs to be the same to really insure it all works. BUT!!! One for parts would really come in handy for those times that the connectors are broken on somebody's harness, AND... You might as well sell a complete kit to somebody that wants to do a conversion maybe?
  2. If you dont have the special tool you can split the case slightly, and tip the case halves \ / and access the rod cap bolts and get as many as you can then flip the case over and do the same thing again...frustrating but you eventually can reach all 8 nuts and get the piston and upper half of the rod to come out their bores.
  3. If you put a brand new clutch in it you may need to adjust the cable. The smoking is probably condensation in the exhaust from the previous engine....I assume it blew a head gasket?
  4. Ignitor, ECU, MAF, entire intake manifold with the air snorkel and air box, Alternator with both the AC and PS brackets (and their pumps if you have these acc and want them), ECU, and all the wiring under the dash and in the engine compartment. Not sure on the radiator I want to know the same thing. Ive done the Vanagon conversion and helped with an ea82 GL conversion but want to know for my 83 conversion. Id also like to know which radiator fan setups have worked in the past. Shameless plug, see my wiring harness conversion post in vendor area...
  5. Its good to know I am not the only one not getting issues and getting alot of machine like responses from the company that does that subscriptions.
  6. They make a 2.2 plate and the bellhousing is exactly the same shape and works. The flywheel and clutch setup would also be the same.
  7. I am willing to do these for your Vanagon or ea-ej swaps. Wiring is stripped, unnecessary items eliminated, important wires tagged and harness is shipped back to you. For an 90-94 EJ22 $200 includes return shipping. You must supply the ENTIRE harness from a 90-94 Legacy and must not have already attempted to do it yourself. I can give you pointers on how to remove the complete harness from the donor car if you need. SVX $300 plus $20 shipping lower 48. 02-03 WRX $380 plus $20 shipping. you must obtain the Smallcar.com circuit board to eliminate trouble codes or make the board yourself. SPFI: $200 including return shipping.
  8. Don't do it. Have it towed it if its worth owning, make it run where it is, or pass on it.
  9. I think the photo gallery would allow you to host the file but it wouldn't be something that you could view in a post people would just maybe be able to download it.
  10. Its been done on Porsche Kit cars. 5spd FWD trans bolted to an ej22.
  11. Start at the timing. Theres a marker thats supposed to be on the crank pulley area. It may have been removed or its so covered in oil you dont notice it.
  12. The intake and wiring will bolt on and work with your 94 LongBlock. Be aware that if your intake has EGR and your block doesnt or vice versa you will need to either drill and tap the head or cap off the egr and live with a check engine light/trouble code mode situation. As for a speed sensor as referenced above one is available for the Vanagon conversions thru smallcar.com that bolts onto your VW axleshaft and I think the bolt pattern would be the same. http://www.smallcar.com/_SiteWizard_MerchantWizard_Product.asp?ProductID=638
  13. Something about the engine spinning an opposite direction of a Subaru sticks with me. Also, Hobart Kennedy is known for having put Corvair engines in VW Busses in the past so I would imagine he would know something about it. Try sending an email to Kennedy Engineered Products, their website is here: kennedyeng.com
  14. The vanagon radiator? Its a BEAST! Id say its 2.5" thick like a 3 row maybe and its at least 24x24 if not 30x30. Im having trouble picturing it in my head.
  15. I think its awesome that you are doing the excel file and I know it will be helpful for others as well. I wish I would have done that but I transplanted and then re-transplanted so it would be a little weird on the #'s but still very doable. I may still go back and do it.
  16. I gotta know....why not just buy a Turbo Legacy? You would gain AWD, the car would be a stock configuration and worth more $, etc.
  17. Vanagon guy here... Look at Kennedyeng.com for a link or phone number and call to inquire on their catalog. I believe the bellhousing and starter are pretty much the same so mounting the engine should be as well the same as a Vanagon. From there, the wiring is virtually the same for any car to mount a 2.2 just put power where power is needed and add gauges. Wiring a Subaru ej22 isn't terrible. Cooling will be your fun. I did an air cooled Vanagon conversion with 2 days worth of success. Overheated it and bailed on the conversion to dump the guts into a water cooled one with A/C. Figure out where to put a Radiator and whether or not you want a heater core/heat and go from there. I heard rumor that there were busses made in Mexico with h20 cooling but never dug around on that.
