  1. I'd get a full gasket kit. Then youll get everything you need Felpro seems to be the manufacture of choice for gaskets; I've always had good luck with them.
  2. Yeah I spose. Didnt really want a life history LOL Just never heard of lifting a Subaru for medical reasons I spose it could help with getting in / out. But then you'd need big tires to really get the height.
  3. It will work and you'll have some extra parts Any more details as to why you are liftin a 2WD one?
  4. Hmmm then it prolly isnt as bad as I thought. I really dont care what my milage is. Thats kinda what I was getting at. Big tires arent for commuting and saving MPG. They are for offroading. I could be getting 8mpg and I'd still run these tires. I'm no stranger to 8mpg town / 15mpg highway... buying gas every day... ugh, big blocks with 4barrels
  5. So basicly.... ya should have started with an EA82 :-p
  6. Slightly different here on a Loyale....SPFI so no vacume advance. Plug in the two green connecters under the hood up by your fuel filter on the drivers side. This will keep the computer from trying to advance your timing. The rest of what Torxxx is describing is dead on. Prolly need to reset your timing if you set it to 0 instead of 20. I find it helps to use a white crayon or chalk to mark the 20 degree line. REALLY shows up under that strobe light.... better than a dirty, crusty old flywheel Oh don't forget to unplug those connectors when you are done.
  7. I amassed parts then did the 4WD conversion and lift kit all at the same time. It makes a lot more sense and is less work. To put in the lift kit you are going to need to take out everything that the 4WD conversion is going to require also. No sense in pulling it all off, putting in a lift kit, bolting it all back together; then pulling it all off and converting it 4WD later. Junkyards were my big cost saver for converting to 4WD. 5MT Dual Range was $100, complete rear subframe assembly was $30 (got it at a Pull-a-Thon! had to carry it 30 yards to get it for $30) driveshaft was $15, pug rims were $100, and the biggest cost ? Tires.... $215 and liftkit... $300. Also you didnt mention what Subaru we are talking about here speicifcly. I'm describing what I did to an EA82, 1988 GL wagon.
  8. I get about 15-20 with 235/75 R15 tires on. It's well worth the 12"s of ground clearance to my lowest points front and rear Big tires arent for commuting every day....
  9. Yes they did. It was during a press release at a big-wig car show. They said they would like to move twoard equiping all models standard with a turbo and a more luxary approach to designs. I know it doesnt mean that they will actually do it; wish they would however.
  10. Howdy there fellow Minnesota Subaru duder There is an oil change day happening this Sunday in Maple Grove. I'm sure you could get a real hands on oil change lesson Head over to http://www.mnsubaru.com and look under Events section. Jeff is the guy hosting it; just click his name on the forum to view his profile and send him an email.
  11. that SRX hatch is sweet! look at those big old tires too fill up them wheel wells
  12. No just trying to plan something. I cant just drop everything and go somewhere that day. If we are gonna meet up then lets nail down a time and location. Otherwise my wife will surely schedule something for Sunday =P
  13. I'd just do a complete engine swap. Will be less hassel and money in the end.
  14. Winter is so harsh on cars I would start by looking for a vacume leak. With as cold as it gets up there a hose could have easily cracked or snapped off. Strategicly squirt little bursts of ether (starting fluid) around your engine bay as its ideling. The idle will surge if it sucks any of the ether in through a leak. Throttle Position Sensor is another possibility. Make sure the wire harnes plug is on securly, all the wires are in good shape there, and that the TPS itself is secured to the throttle body. Some things to start with
  15. What does he have setup running off the stubs?
  16. I was checking out those pics. Love the exhuast Neat boat man!
  17. Old news but nice to see it again One sick Brat !_!
  18. Just the fronts? Or rear and front? Cuz the fronts look beefy compared to normal EA82 axles. Rears look the same. Maybe previouse owner had rears replaced with cheaper EA82 rear axle?
  19. It's fine on and off the road. Especially if you are moving at all, then I don't even notice a lack of power assist. Not really enough weight on the tires to make it hard to turn. Its not becuase I got huge Popeye arms either... cuz I dont have big arms. I rely on my cheater bar a lot =P
  20. This is an XT6 with no rear LSD. They dont LOOK any better but looks can be different than reality. I guess if anything they will just be some trail parts
  21. Check the dipstick Good sign that it's not clacking bad or knocking hard! Check the sending unit wire. They are pretty prone to damage. Wire on mine actually broke inside the shielding. Couldnt see it had a break in the wire untill I felt up the wire and found the break inside the shielding. Maybe someone could provide the OHMs resistance spec for the sending unit for you to check against? Then you could see if it was the sending unit. Another good check would be to plumb in an aftermarket oil guage.
