  1. In our equipment we use threadserts which are the same as timeserts. I haven't used a helicoil in years. As for the rust. in the cylinder take it to an old timer in a machine shop and have it sleeved. Jeff Cassell in Spokane did my last one for 85.00. Problem solved. The farmboy in me would have thrown ATF down the cylinder and ran it and see. But tearing it down and rebuilding it is the right thing to do so props to the above recommendation...
  2. If you take the Thor/Frey St. exit head north on Freya...It turns into market in before Hillyard, Safeway is on the left.
  3. Agree, with the above. Now my only real question is the downshifting issue. That is a synchro issue and the whining is like Subaru Nut said the input shaft. If you have it apart replace the input shaft bearing anyhow....Cheers.
  4. That is almost as bad as having Ford for a last name and not owning one......
  5. Yerp agreed! Be carefull when reading the manual. It is a bit confusing. Goto to the tech side and the procedure has been explained in depth by a leader here. He even used pictures! Had to use it muself!..LOL.
  6. I am so geeked! Just bought 4 USMB stickers for your get together.
  7. I for one would do it but like PKS said Friday may be tough but Sat evening is cool too......:-)
  8. Has anyone ever fabricated bumpers and posted online for their Subie?

  9. I have been looking around and can't find specific photo's with steel bumpers being fabricated? Any ideas.
  10. Wow, You know I have Loyale and GL and oddly when I went to order they just ask me the typical questions never got the wrong shaft at O'Reilly's not that they are any better or any worse than anyone else. It could be as simple as the EA81 or EA82 they seem to want to always want to know.
  11. This whole scenario is scarely familiar. Neighbor, gets his mothers' Legacy after she moves to assisted living. He knows my love affair with subies and it won't stay running and fuel is dumping in the cylinders. Did all the usual stuff on a car that was sitting for a little awhile maybe a year or so...Plugs wires filter oil etc.... Got curious after the cat was cherry red. Disconnect the exhaust and the thing smoothed out. So we left it like that and drove it to Muffer Doc in Spokane. Replace Cat and 02 sensors and it ran fine...I am no egspert but really sounds familiar....
  12. Look at these cars son on this sight. Make your Subaru your own these guys and gals have some good ideas.
