  1. Want to build another.........

  2. Yes Sir you absolutely did, This Subaru in the picture is my oldest son's. He graduated from Reardan last year. The other red one is my youngest son's. He is a Junior this year. My wife has the Forester. I am want a new Baja this year...... I hope.
  3. Respectfully I have done a lot of reseach on this specific issue. I had engine misfire codes, O2 codes, and had people tell me to replace my cat. Well I am glad I did not. This worked perfectly and saved me a lot of money. If you have taken you car to an oil change facility to get your oil changed and they unplugged the Air Flow sensor with the key on it will cause this. It is right by the Air Cleaner. Simply remove the battery terminals and let set for ten minutes and reinstall. If problem comes back remove spark plug wires and inspect for traces of oil on the plug wires and plugs. Valve cover seals around the plug it will cause slight leakage and short your plug. Remove plugs and replace if you haven't done it recently. Don't go cheap buy iridium plugs you'll be happier. This is what I did. This is just me now so don't beat me up Subaru mechanics. I cleaned the holes thoroughly with carb cleaner and blew out with air. I took the high quality black gasket maker and resealed the upper side of the holes just inside the holes. I gapped and reinstalled new iridium plugs. I then put a touch of dialectric grease on the inside of wire and help seal wire plug. I also put thin coat of dialectric grease on the outside of the plug wire to prevent gasket maker from glueing the plug into the hole. Again you will have to disconnect the battery for a few minutes and reinstall. When you restart your car it will take and couple of time to start. Don't worry it is computer resetting itself. I hope this helps.
  4. We are the Ford's. New Years is also our anniversary. The boys wanted us to join them at the orv park near our house. It was a lot of fun. We also met a couple of new Subaru friends. Chris if your out there it was great meeting you and your friends. Peace and a Happy New Year.
  5. Thanks, all, I finally got the new one and installed. This job was relatively easy. Your help gave me the confidence to do it. Thanks again, Eric
  6. Thanks Fairtax, It's my wife's daily driver so tires are always rotated and matched. My guess is she has been in the ditch several times pretty badly over the last few years and spun the crap out of the tires in the ditch. Just guessing. Problem started shortly after one such incident last winter.
  7. I know this has been discussed but right now I am searched out and confused. I have spent quite abit of time on the older side of this sight but my wife's forester is acting up. Right now I have the fwd fuse in place and the torque bind is still there. I wasn't sure of alot of things in the threads already posted. Is there a difference between Automatic and Manual tranfer duty systems? Is the clutch assemble filled seperate from the main transmission? What oils do I use? When and where do I ad a friction modiffier as suggested? There seems to be a wide variety of opinions on this. Thanks in advance. Cheers!
  8. Any major parts house. Still fairly cheap. Buy head gaskets and intake gaskets from Subaru though.
  9. Except your in NE.......That'll cost more to ship than they are worth though.
  10. MY OPINION ONLY, I have rebuilt 3 EA-82. I was patient and asked alot of questions. Obiously you are both cause you have kept asking questions and have taken your car to pull and save. They are just time consuming to rebuild. I use HONDALUBE sealant for the cases. The only reason for this is the motorcycle industry has perfected case sealing. Other opinions are welcomed on this. Before pulling your motor flush out coolant system thoroughly, it makes it easier for cleaning if you don't have a full shop like some of the lucky dogs on this sight. Rebuilding these just takes an eye for detail. Peace, Eric
  11. Fun! I put the lift kit on my 16 year olds Subie and broke the front within 2 hours wheeling in the snow with him............Fun!
  12. Yes this is a Non interference engine. I just use O'Reillys for everthing except head and intake gaskets. Those I get from Subaru. Just a personal preference. I would not go that far to drain the oil pan. Will see the metal in your drain pan. Like the above stated do the belts and test it. Alot of people knock engines but I have had them pretty badly beat to crap and still running. Try it and see. There is an awesome thread on timing belt replacement. As far as the idlers get new bearings or replace the whole assembly. I personally buy the bearings at an industrial supply store. Peace, Eric
  13. I won't dog you but you definately have some issues. Even stripped spines in the hubs will cause the same thing. I rail our Sub's in the snow here in the PNW..... I have a Forester, Loyale and a GL. Just sayin.....
