Very Sad Pics
That's in UTAH! There are no old Soobs in Utah? Don't tell anyone about this find!!! Got to keep this quiet we don't want anyone to know of this secret stash. The yard I go to in Salt Lake has only two Gen 2's left. What else is there? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

Names of your Soobs
Now the 82 Hatch has been transformed into a Subaru-Hummer, I call it "Summer"! My 84 GL was a clean one owner but the problem was the previous owner was Mad Max, so the little road warrier is named "Mad Max". The Forester has no name at this point.

whats he building in there?
Humm... A Gen II cut in half...why cut it in half...are we going to lengthen or shorten... My guess is a Clown Car with two front ends!

Forester Diesel?
I was just looking around Ebay and found this Juice Box Chip. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-98-99-0-01-02-03-04-05-Subaru-Forester-Chip-Module_W0QQitemZ8048571491QQcategoryZ33597QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem It says it will NOT work on Forester Turbo or Diesel engines. I was a little disappointed when I read that. Does anyone know where I can get one for my Diesel Forester:lol:!

Summer meets Winter!
Or is it Winter meets Summer:confused: We have not had any good snow storms in a longtime. I've been waiting forever for a good dump to take Summer out and play:banana: We got dumped on the other day. No cars were moving, streets were solid ice, no one was getting anywhere so... I got Summer out and went playing on the streets... Who's going to catch me?:-p Had a great time in my Subaru-Snowmobile! Here's a link to some pics http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=584 Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

welding rear?
Weld it! Turn corners gradually. Remove an axle for long term city use. You'll be fine.

Utah canyonlands and stock forester
Have you been to the San Rafael Swell? It's just west of Moab. Always occcupied with Subies and mountain bikers. Great scenery and a Forester could do anything in the area. Lots of powersliding and drifting opportunitys:lol: http://www.ut.blm.gov/sanrafaelswell/objectsofinterest/1700-present.htm Google for it and see if it's what your looking for? Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--wants to go the the San Rafael 84 GL Mad Max--wouldn't make it there. 01 Forester--been there done that, heading back in shortly.

What's Left To Mod For Offroad?
Weld the rear for a Lincoln Locker then... Do the Dual Ebrake thing and you'll have a limited slip up front. You'll never spin a tire again! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=6002&cat=500&ppuser=584 Good Luck! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

putting seat heaters in 97 legacy
Sweet82 replied to jasonhughes's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIf the heated seats were offered as an option in 97, I'd bet there are hookups in the existing wiring harness. I'd remove some carpeting and plastic and see what is hiding below the seating area? If there is wiring under the seat then the wiring to the dash is already done:banana: Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester--every option I've added was pre-wired by the factory.

Mirror in the glove box...Rare???
Complete with a owners manual in the background! Why has a thread about something so pointless gone on for sooo long?

Tranny Swap?
The 4speed has a one piece driveline The 5speed has a two piece driveline The depending on your needs the year the 4speed may have better gearing?

High range 4WD/light problems
Yes that button controls the light on the dash and nothing else. If the light stays on, I'd check the wire right below the switch (should be just one). See if it's snug. May be time to get a new switch from the JY? Reading your story on 4high and 4low, I'd suspect that the shift lever needed some adjustment to get the proper throws for shifting into all gears. I have to wonder if it wasn't bent a bit? Good luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--complete with 4wd dash light and switch. 84 GL Mad Max--never goes out of 4wd! 01 Forester--4low light never comes on?

subaru in the snow
That right there is what Subarus were made for!

Exoskeleton?
An exoskeleton would look cool but by the time you make it structurally sound you have added quite a bit of metal/weight to your Subie. Having tie down points and a industrial roof rack would be handy. Being able to "pivot" around rocks and trees would be handy. Realistically, If you build a full exoskeleton and you actually roll? Yes it will save the vehicle from most body damage but not all. The real problem begins once you have rolled. The exoskeleton will be tweeked just slightly and may be torqueing your unibody. The problem you have is realigning the exoskeleton! If you cut just one bar there is a good chance that the whole thing will twist slightly and never align back to the original shape. The reality of it is if you roll you may have to make another exoskeleton and junk the first one? If your worried about rolling, I'd do an internal roll bar and call it good? My .02! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

Mirror in the glove box...Rare???
The mirror was mounted on the door of the glove box and usually stored mirror side down and flat. When you needed to use it you just flipped it up to see yourself then flip it back closed when your done.
