R/R welded diff?
I'm stupid, or just havn't spent any quality time with my diff thingy. Having stated the obvious, The stub that sticks out can be unbolted and replaced leaving all the welded gears inside happy:) and inplace? Glenn, 82 Summer, contemplating slickrock......

New buggy pics
I paid $80/rim......made however I wanted them! They turned out to be 12" high 9" wide with a offset I can't recall but can measure. That will allow you to have the most aggressive tires possible. I found some with 2" lugs. The ones I got were Dirt Devil XT's. You can loose a quarter in the tread depth. These lugs are DEEP! 25X12X12, 26X12X12, 27X12X12 or 28X12X12. I went with 26" to keep my gear ratio as close as possible. Glenn,

Moab recon run!
I'll be leaving in a few hours.......... Anyone interested in Moab later this year, send me your angle of approach and departure and give me an idea of how much clearance you have soon. If you know your maximum climbing angle send that too. I'll assess Subability on Kane Creek, Metal Masher, Gold Bar and Golden Spike this weekend. I have 47 approach, 71 departure and 11.5" down the center. Overhang may kill us! Glenn, 82 Summer, 01 Forester,

New buggy pics
Snapped some pics of Summer last night. Since you saw it last it now has; a roof, a floor, front seats, clearance lights up top for that Hummer look, driving lights up top for true "high beams", my old luggage rack runners, a blower to go with the heater core, and one tail light! Buggy pics Could fire it up anytime:D But I'm going to Moab! so it won't happen this weekend. Shuuuuuuuu! DON'T Tell Summer! Glenn 82 Summer, almost done! 01 Forester, done!

Winchs wanted!
Thanks, Subsandrail So the rolling rating is pulling a rolling vehicle on flat ground? (With 60 psi tires on concrete:eek: ). Seems that the rolling weight is somewhat meaningless, the straight pull would be the only meaningfull figure? I can pull a #2000 pound vehicle:cool: I figure the buggy will weigh around #1500 when it's done. A #2000 would be 25% over the vehicle weight. I plan on getting a snatch block anyway. Thanks, Glenn 82 Summer, almost done... 01 Forester, done...

Winchs wanted!
I'm going to put a winch on Summer. I don't know a thing about them. However I did pick up one of those $49 Harbor Freight #2000 ones discussed in previous posts. Can anyone explain what the rolling weight means on a winch vs a strait pull? I have been getting conflicting info from under qualified parts store people. Anyone shed some light on requirements and what ratings mean for winches? Thanks, Glenn 82 Summer, (SubaruHummer) almost wired. 01 Forester, wired!

Enlightenment needed!
The headlights are wired using the Factory harness (2 fuses one for each light) and then they share a common ground. The headlight plug is labeled; Pass Drive Ground What would happen if I used a jumper wire back to the low beams from the high beams? and didn't use a relay? (roasted wires? What's that smell?) Wheres this relay thing? Glenn, 82 Summer, with park, reverse, signal, hazard and brake lights only! 01 Forester, fully lit!

Enlightenment needed!
Facts: My 82 Hatch had the single headlight with the dual element. Now my Hatch is a buggy, I have those off-the-shelf, single element driving lights. Problem: What I want to do is have one set of driving lights be my low beams and use my blinker to switch on a seperate set of driving lights for high beams. It don't work! What I have tried, Wiring the new, driving light, low beams to the existing low beam wires and wiring the new, driving light, high beams to the existing high beams. What happens is as soon as I flip the blinker to light the "high beams" the "low beams" go off! I assume the problem is the head light relay? I'm looking for suggestions to allow me to use the original light switch and blinker to run the lights. Thanks, Glenn 82 Summer the "SubaruHummer". 01 Forester, still bent but not broken!

RC Brat Display
Looks good! I still want one:boohoo: My buddy wont sell me his:mad: If that's the old frog/blackfoot/monster beatle/mudblaster chassis it's a independant rear with those lousy dog bone axles. That chassis never ran the dependable solid axle. The Mud blaster should have come with the Mubachi 540 from the factory. The 380 would require an adapter. What about painting the outside of the lexan body if you don't like the color? I've covered up several previous owner screw ups that way. Have you tried brake fluid to remove the paint? Glenn, Way too many R/C things....
