  1. Try the photos section under brochures! Heres one! What year are you looking for? Glenn, 82 Hatch, well it used to be.... 01 Forester, bent but not broken!
  2. If I remember right........ The tire is a Bridgestone S401. OWL (outlined white letter) designed for mud and snow. Tire pics I ran factory tires up until 5 years ago. They are out of production and have been for MANY years. In the past, I had tire dealers bring them in from great distances just to have the orignal tires. I've paid up to $95/tire in the past. They just can't be had anymore:boohoo: I've wasted tons of time looking for them to keep my subie factory stock. Maybe someone has a forgotten stash somewhere? Good luck, Glenn 82 Hatch, now has ATV tires......... 01 Forester, bent but not broken!
  3. Did you notice the rims on this subie? They got to be worth something?
  4. Varnish! No paint! One vote has been cast! Glenn, 82 Hatch, well it used to be..... 01 Forester, bent but not broken.
  5. I need a "molded" hose too. Top hose on Summer is an inch too short. How come the good folks at Pep Boys didn't suggest this in the first place? I went down to Pep Boys chasing a hose and they said "we do it just by application so you need to tell me what it's going in". Hummmm........they didn't have my buggy on file? Why didn't they suggest the universal? Just whinning..........:boohoo: Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer........ 01 Forester, bent but not broken!
  6. We need to go play in Moab! Mudrat is up for it too. I have no reservations about your driving abilities or "Little Roo's capabilities". If your willing to accept undercarrage damage as a cost of doing business then we should get a qualified group together. There are Junk yard Subarus in Moab for emergency parts. I'm not sure Summer will be able to do much more than the trails I listed above (some are 4+ rated). I have stock gearing and 26" tires. With the over sized tires factored in my crawl ratio will not be great. I'd think overhang and gearing would be the biggest obsticales in the way of Modified Sub. Get your boat trip over and let's go! Glenn, 82 Hatch, almost wired. 01 Forester, bent but not broken!
  7. I thought the bottom picture was how to start your carburated Subaru when it stalls on a steep side hill. Glenn, 82 Hatch, don't start sideways.... 01 Forester, bent but not broken!
  8. Jason, This is my buddys 85 Toyota, He's got a crawl ratio over 100 to 1, He also now has a full roll cage! This was shot about half way up Pritchett. You can't see it but the ledges are between 2 & 3 feet high. He went on too much of an angle just before this was taken:mad: Glenn,
  9. Welcome, Professor. My Forester took a tree hit directly on the roof rack. Didn't phase it! In fact it saved that side of the car from damage! I have the solid-low profile rack. It's strong! Aren't the cup holders a great design! Mine both blocks access to my controls and blocks my vents! They warm your soda in the winter and cool off your coffee in the summer! I'm not sure I really had anything importent to say? Just Spouting! Glenn, 82 Hatch, well it used to be... 01 Forester, bent but not broken!
  10. I like the 2001 WRC in the background. I did mine in black! pics! It's a rocket! Glenn, 82 Hatch, well it used to be..... 01 Forester, bent but not broken!
  11. Jason, I'm 4 hours from Moab myself. I'll be down there in March and again in April. I'll be back again in the fall sometime too. Upper Helldurado is out as far as a Sub is concerned. Lower Helldurado is now closed:mad: Pritchett canyon is probably the worst trail in Moab Don't mean to insult anyone but it's not Modified Sub terratory. Modified trucks don't make it. I have an old Honda Trials bike and it was hell getting up Pritchett. Lionsback is just plain cool! The approach is from level sand to 60 degree slickrock for about 40 feet up. You have to smoke all 4's to get up to the part the is only 40-45 degrees from that point on your driving on a 20' wide fin about 500' in the air. You have to keep dead center because it slopes on both sides as you climb. Up top there is no place to turn around but the view is spectacular! going down is worse. you'll slide! I have done it on my trials bike but I'm not sure i'd do it again. Now the bad part, The enviro whakos have purchased the land that Lionsback is on and they are not letting anyone climb it anymore. Trails I'd suggest starting on with a MODIFIED Sub, Hells Revenge, Fins and Things, Poisen Spider, Kane Creek, Steel bender & Top of the World. These may be possible in a GEARED LIFTED Sub. So..........when do we go!
  12. Ya the snow sucks---mainly since it's still here! I'm up near Sugarhouse. No Bandit driving yet:mad: I haven't fired it up since I parked the donor car for the final time last July--sniff!. I'm still working on the wiring harness---but it's soo cold I havn't made much progress in the last month. I could easily beat the cops back to my house:D My neighbors are very supportive of the project and wouldn't call--they'ed want rides. Under Sweet82's pics the Yellow Hatch.... That's the donor car. Kinda hard to carve up but it would have been unsafe because of the rust on the bottom side:( No need to use a wagon like they say--(The Auzzies don't have the Hatch available to them). You'll end up taking about 18" out of the driveline so it does not matter which car you start with. I assume it will handle terrible! No Sway bar, big ATV tires and a maniac behind the wheel! What a great ride! I have added some extras to the buggy but I still figure it will weigh around #1500 when I'm done. I can lift the back end! A buddy has lifted the front! The Hatch weighed around #2400.
  13. Ironhorse, Welcome to the board, we need more Utah folks represented here. Ya, the picture is the bandit. There are more on pics in the reader ride section. Link to reader rides in the Photo section I took some artistic license with the plans. I have added room for rear seats and built a cargo rack up top. I've added rock sliders along the sides and lowered the hood 8" for visibility. Seems as though it would make a great desert assault vehicle. I plan on playing on the Jericho sand dunes down by Delta. I have kin there. As far as I know this is the only one around. There are two other board members who are threatening to build Bandits but so far this is the only (semi) finished one. Happy to help with technical support. Glenn 82 Hatch, well it used to be....... 01 Forester, bent but not broken......
  14. My 01 is Great! I have only replaced a water pump by-pass hose and that's it. ........and I did that on my test drive......... Satisfied owner! Glenn, 82 Hatch, well it started out that way..... 01 Forester, bent but not broken......
  15. I have "Bug Pack" coil over shocks on Summer. The coils can be removed and they become regular shocks again. I figure this will give me some flexability in tuning the suspension to my terrain. For what its worth, Glenn 82 Hatch, well it used to be..... 01 Forester, bent but not broken..
  16. Brian, I believe this was covered recently, I think it was Miles that said it was the black one with the white stripe. On my 82 the black one white stripe is positive and the black one with the brown rings is a ground. Good luck, Glenn
  17. My Hatch does this ocasionally....... Done it for quite sometime..... Never fixed it...... Mudrat picked up a spare Junkyard disty here for $12. I figure when mine becomes a problem, I'll do the same. Glenn, 82 Hatch, frozen in the garage.... 01 Forester, bent but not broken.
  18. Mudrat, If I had my guess, I bet your a bigger help to your old buddy Jason and his fiancee than anyone (including your self) will ever know. Keep up the good work! Glenn, 82 Hatch, ain't changed much since you saw it..... 01 Forester, bent but not broken....
  19. You get all the good crap! I want one..:boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: Have you ever noticed, McBrat never reveals any of his treasures until the deal is done............ ..........one bid!.............
  20. Congrats,:bday: Let us know what ya got!:bday:
  21. Good Score! Subaru, Frog, Ford F150, Beatle Tamiya sure got their use out of those old chassis. $50 with a radio is a great deal. Trade you a Bug or SuperBlack Foot body for a Brat:D I'm also looking for an old Grasshopper or Hornet. Glenn, R/C Trucks Cars Boats, air, sail, power. Gliders Power planes Snow Cat .......
  22. I like Showroom Stock cars! Nothing like seeing a older car that looks like it just rolled off the assembly line. I respect folks who take care of things over time. That's what we all have fascinations with car museums. All the cars die early around here because of the salt. My old GL used to get me a complement every week or so by total strangers. Too bad it had cancer on the bottom side:boohoo: Having said all that, For a show car you need the right car to start with. If the car is not fit for restoration, why make it a money pit? You may have more fun carving it up and playing with it. When "Little Roo" came through SLC it turned 100% of the heads! MY .02 about YOUR decision. Glenn, 82 Hatch, well it stated out that way.... 01 Forester, still is a Forester.....
  23. Your in the right place at the right time! Put it to good use! Best I ever did was a "Mini" (Austin American) for $50. Ran great but just would NOT stop. Wish I still had that! Glenn, 82 Hatch, on hold till it warms up a bit... 01 Forester, likes the cold.......
  24. I have my harness apart and am wiring the buggy with it. On mine the ground wire is black with some brown rings. Try following both wires to the main harness. Once at the main harness one of them should be coupled to another wire of the same color. These wires should couple with others of the same, they ground to the chassis. Good luck, Glenn, 82 Hatch, just wired the fuel pump. 01 Forester, factory wired fuel pump.
  25. Amanda, Save it, make it into a play toy and keep the Forester out of harms way:D Glenn, 82 Summer, ---play toy!--- 01 Forester, ----well..., also a play toy---
