Make sure you observe them holding up the hatch before you purchase them. My.02 Glenn 82 Hatch, struts haven't held up the hatch for at least 10 years. (the long snow scrapers will work perfectly for this) 01 Forester, struts still holding strong.

Subaru in National Geographic?
Sweet82 replied to Russ Hill's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I think the 1503 B.C. GL Had the square wheels and the 1504's had the dual round ones? Which years did they offer the wood siding? I did a "search" on it and nothing came up. Didn't any of our ancestors post on this? Glenn, 82 Summer 01 Forester (I need a shift knob for a 1505 DL)......anyone?.....Moosens?...... (I think any EA02 will fit) -
I know of another SecretMobile......... But I promised I wouldn't tell:mad: I think the Idea is to finish it then present it as a finished product. No one wants a permemant SecretMobile:cornfuzz: or they wouldn't taunt and tease us! Glenn 82 Summer, Declassified! 01 Forester, Has no secrets.

Brake line developed a leak on my Brat
Sweet82 replied to benebob's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You have got to isolate the problem before you fix it! I have a leak in the same general area too. Because I have no fenders it's easy to see what is leaking. I need to replace the line that goes from the upper cylinder to the lower splitter. A new steel line is no big deal the duplicate and replace, if that's the problem? Cutting an old line and putting a new section is also not hard! Find out where the leak is! Good luck, Glenn -
Another Goofy Idea--Storage in Spare Tire Area
Sweet82 replied to Dante's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Who checks tranny fluid anyway?:santa: -
Brakes can knock when they wear a bit??? What kind of sound is it? A blown/bad shock can cause noises to happen and telegraph around the car? Hummmm?:cornfuzz: Glenn 82 Hatch, has knocked because of brakes and shocks! 01 Forester, better not knock!

Another Goofy Idea--Storage in Spare Tire Area
Sweet82 replied to Dante's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I think you should do something like the old LandRover and bolt the spare to the hood! (sure you can't see but it would look so cool!) How about taking a spin from the 50's cars and have a "Contenental" spare tire embossed in the hood so you can store larger tires under it? Just a thought? Glenn 82 Summer, no spare tire mount yet.......... 01 Forester, wants a swing-a-way spare tire mount....... -
There are a lot of strong feelings out there on this subject. You might try a search and see what others have done and recomended? I'd suggest while your there replace the whole thing and be done with it....... Good luck, Glenn 82 Hatch, well sort of........ 01 Forester, still is.........

I have a draw-tite on my forester. I ain't coming off. You could pick up the car with the hitch. You shouldn't have any problems with it. The tolerances are real tight, it should bolt right on. Good luck, Glenn 82 Hatch, now with winch-hitch capabilities. 01 Forester, .......the winch would fit this hitch too.........Hummm?

breaking into locked gas cap ea81
Sweet82 replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you had picks you'd be done with it by now, short of that, I'd go with the screwdriver or vice grip routine. Won't take long to peal it back, no matter which way you choose. The only real decision is what cap to put back on........cause the old one aint goin back on! Drilling may leave metal flakes in your tank! (What I'm saying is you'll make more shrapnel for the explosion!):madder: My .02 Glenn 82 Hatch? 01 Forester! -
Welcome to the board. Your keyless box should be under your dash/or behind the glove box? The oil shouldn't have reached your interior areas? Is there any oily wires/connectors? That would be the first place I'd look. Your keyless box should be up under your dash on the drivers side. It should be a 3x3x1 black box attached to the firewall/wheel well area. Some others have them in back of the glove box. Is the box oil free? A grounding wire could be causing your greef. A broken ground in any of these systems could cause feedback to one of the other systems? Good luck, Glenn 82 Hatch, well it use to be........ 01 Forester, still is..........

84 Subaroo Hatch 4X4 cv axle ?????s
Sweet82 replied to Subaroo Bratboy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I had the same basic questions. So, I put out a thread a long time ago, but I can't find it anymore? It is my understanding that the 82-84 GL 4X4 Hatches are the same. An 85 will be different. I'd bet any EA81 will fit. Anyone else? Good Luck, Glenn 82 Hatch, well it use to be...... 01 Forester, still is........... -
Thanks Guys, .............I knew someone would know. This board is great! I'll hit the parts store on the way home:-) Glenn, 82 Summer? 01 Forester!

I pulled the radiator and had it serviced as part of building "Summer". When I was trying to drain it the plastic drain plug broke/cracked. Now it's serviced and in the Buggy, I noticed it seems as though it may be leaking? I haven't fired the Buggy yet so I don't know what it will do when I actually put pressure on it. My question is.........Is this a off the shelf part? Are these drain plugs universal? Where can I get one? Thanks, Glenn 82 Hatch, should have just pulled the hose off in the first place..... 01 Forester, blew a water pump bypass hose already............

Sooo....... What are you wheeling with while "Little Roo" is getting a make over? Haven't talked with Mudrat, What's the status of The Little Subie that could? Glenn, 82 Hatch, well it use to be... 01 Forester, still is..........

Talk to a bank! Ask them what they will loan you on it? There is a reason they don't like to loan much money on them. I have been told that you should be paying around 60% of LOW BOOK! (no one will ever sell one this low). The title is marked that way for a reason. Restored/rebuilt vehicles are quirky they are never the same. Restored cars will not crumple the same in a crash. I've had several. I'm currently still driving one, I've had for 8 years. It's a great vehicle but quirky! BE REAL CAREFULL!

My old 82 GL has had that problem since........82! The wiper bolt is threaded so that if too much pressure is put on the blade the retaining nut will come undone rather than strain the motor/system. I think it's a safety valve in the system. Tighten the retaining nut real GOOD! Glenn, 82 Hatch, now without a windshield or wipers! 01 Forester, never had that problem yet.

Toby, SubaruJunky was kind enough to gimme some space on the reader rides board. Here is the link....Sweet82's Subaru Pics I wanted to do a time line photo of the build process for the buggy but I don't have a digital camara......so I used my Hi-8 video camara in place of a real camara. The yellow Hatch is the donor vehicle...:boohoo: Hated to carve it up (top was super clean but bottom was rusted through the floor pan):boohoo: Mudrat79 may also have some pics from different angles with a real camara. Before you start, we should talk, I can save you some time/greef. Any chance you may be traveling through SLC? for a first had look? It would be cool to have two Bandits in the Country! Glenn, 82 Summer, (SubaruHummer):temper: 01 Forester, (Forester)
