Northern Nevada Subaru Meet
Sweet82 replied to subieman's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Shafter is a old RR ghost town along the old Northern Nevada RR line between Wendover and Oasis. It's about 20 miles north of Wendover. Wendover is about 2 hrs from SLC. A buddy and I have "modified" some old RR wheels and run the abandon tracks in that general area. They are 6 lug? wonder if they can be adapted to the SubaruHummer? Hummmm. Subaru Junkie and myself both have $7.00 Harbor Freight Driving lights. Brian likes his, I like mine (not that I've had a chance to use them). http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo21/PIC46 This is the best pic showing them I have. For 7 bucks it's hard to go wrong.......... Aim them correctly Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

My GL never did accelerate? Even when it was running good! I'd give it a basic tuneup and see what happens. For my old hatch a Cap and wires fixed everything evertime. When was the last time the filters were replaced? For what it's worth, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer, never did accelerate! 01 Forester, just plain fast!

I thought it was also sold in AZ till 1994. Hate to see it go..........

Brian, If you happen to think about it, I would appreciate it if you would....... Keep your eyes pealed for an 82 with a carter-weber carb. I have checked every yard in Utah and no #429547014 fuel pump control units. I have the SubaruHummer running but I would really like the original FPCU box to make the choke work like it should. Thanks, Glenn

Northern Nevada Subaru Meet

There's a couple of us here in Utah that could hook up in the northern Nevada area. I Wheel out that way several times a year. I've been looking for a downed B-17 out by Shafter for several years now. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -
Could this be a grounding issue? Just a thought? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

I want some:slobber: . -
I made it but, by the time I got there, you guys has folded up shop for the day. I would have been there sooner but I was held up in traffic in the mid west. Would have enjoyed chating but, I had to turn around and head back home. Still interested in a 1982 FPCU:D if you happen to see any of those laying around. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

IronHorse, Good to hear from you... Lots of great trails around these parts. I don't have a spare:confused: I still need to figure that one out before I go to far from civilization. I met with Hatchet last week and passed off some parts to him. He's a nice guy. Sort of a real small meet and greet at my house. Utah'ns are growing in number all the time:) Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

I finally figured it out! It was the Butler with a Candlestick in the Study! I couldn't take it any longer and had to deal with it. It was me or the squeek! One had to go........ I found the switch on the RHS of the hatch was the culprit. I put a short piece of electrical tape on top of the switch to pad between the switch and the rubber bumper. No more squeeking! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester, quieter now!

On My Forester there WAS a box under the dash on the drivers side that was a door lock timer. ..........Now this box has a better home........ I replaced it with a keyless remote box which does not lock after a certain time. You may have this option available to you too? I found mine on Ebay. Good Luck. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer, no doors or locks 01 Forester, Ebay keyless box/remotes

New member - from Down Under

Welcome! Great board here, you'll like it. Lots of good people with great ideas and experience. The Buggy I built is a Rhino from down under, the guys down there are nuts for Subies! If you get a chance throw a Forester dual range tranny in the mail for me some time:D Subaru only sells a single range transmission up here. Glenn, 82 Hatch, now a Rhino Buggy 01 Forester, 5 speed single range tranny -
If you pull one from a bone yard you may as well re-key it yourself? Pull the new lock totally out of the cylinder and insert your old key, remove or re-arrange the pins/wafers to fit your old key. You can even remove some of the pins/wafers and no one would ever know. After all......No one picks car doors open. If your mechanically inclined you may save your self a few bucks? Just a thought? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer no doors or locks 01 Forester, doors and locks

If your key spins 360 w/o unlocking or locking the door, the retaining nut, for the linkage, on the back side of the lock has come off. You wouldn't be able to spin the lock if it were connected to the linkage inside the door. Seems as though you need to pull off the interior panel and look a disconnected linkage rod or a missing nut from the lock. Roll your window up before you start! Good luck! best way to paint a car on the cheap?
Sweet82 replied to nicky nighteyes's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Might I suggest............ Rhino Lining? It ain't gonna scratch:grin: Keeps the rust at bay... You could do it yourself I saw it for $40/gal at checker Just a thought:rolleyes: Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -
I'm going to try and make it! But traffic is a bitch this time of day from UT. to CT. If I don't get there on time could you PLEASE save the Fuel Pump Control Unit off the wrecked 82 that has the "Carter-Weber". That is if the criminals give it up! The FPCU is near the fuse box and has #429547014 on it. I'll try to remember to bring my #2 phillip$. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer $till needing FPCU #429547014:rolleyes: 01 Forester still needs a windshield.

I may need two diffs depending on where I'm going:confused: What size steel did you use to reinforce the diff hanger? Do you have a pic that shows the entire bar with the reinforcment on it? I'm wondering what the center section looks like? Thanks for your help! Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

I welded the diff,......but I have kept it in "3wd" while working on it. I'll be using it on gravel roads and slick rock Q. Am I going to need to beef the diff hanger? Q. How tight can you turn on asphalt/slick rock with the welded diff? Looking forward to actually using my diff! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
