I think solid axles are in Little Roo's future???? Maybe not Toyotas but how about Samurai axles???? I re-read through all the posts for a hint and that's all I can come up with???? Starting with a second Subaru is always a good idea---Then you have Two! Any more hints:confused: Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

My first car was a manuel transmission because I wanted to learn how to drive one. I think everyone should learn/know how to drive a manuel. Why not start out with one? In my area older Subarus are hard to find. I'd suggest keeping your eyes pealed and see if you can find one locally. If not.......have you tried the "Market Place" on the board? If you find a good source for old Brats let me know and don't tell anyone else:lol: Good Luck, Glenn

Your Cruel----Stop teasing us! Give us just a hint of what "Little Roo" has in store in the future? Please, Please, Please, (now I sound like my kids) No wait let me guess............... A straight panel somewhere on the body................? No........that would remove too much character..... Be Safe! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

84 Subaru brat resurrection help needed
Sweet82 replied to brat1709's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The wiring harness is not hard to remove! The nice thing is it's ala carte. They have made it up in sections so you can just remove it a section at a time and install it a section at a time. It would be some work but not difficult work. If you could get the two cars side by side it would be simple! Good luck Glenn 82 SubaruHummer, with original wiring harness 01 Forester, -
Have you tried jumping directly to the starter? This would tell if it is the starter or something along the line before the starter? Sounds like it could be a bad connection/cable/solenoid or battery. My money is on the starter is good and something along the way is bad. For what its worth, Glenn

Where do you get replacement roll pins? What size are they? Inquiring minds want to know! Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer, roll pins half in...or are they half out??? (guess I should pound them all the way in....) 01 Forester, "what are roll pins?"

Radiator problem...
Sweet82 replied to MiNoahsPinkMartini's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
When I removed my radiator it was in three pieces! They have a habit of delaminating around the top seams and the top mounts. Radiator leaks are easy to find. When it's hot look for the steam running out. When they are cold look for the stains from the water leaking out. Good luck. 82 SubaruHummer, 3 piece radiator--$50 standard service fixed all problems. 01 Forester, blew the radiator by-pass hose on my "test drive" -
Be carefull Tree debris seeds,pods,leaves,etc...Fall into the gap between the hood and the deflector and they are hard to get out and they will scratch the hood and the deflector if not removed quickly. I just pulled mine off to clean that area and found all kinds of scratches. My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

dashboard swap......pain in the ass?
Sweet82 replied to the sucker king's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sawing off the front of your car makes it easy to get the the hidden bolts that you just can't get to w/o braking your hand:-\ Guess that's not an option..... -
POLL: Where do you shift
Sweet82 replied to subiemech85's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I shift by sound, to do other wise would require looking and paying attention to my driving. How can I do that, when I talking on my cell phone? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -

I purchased a car out of a shopping center parking lot once..... It had a blown motor (cracked head) and they had just put new tires on it. I purchased the car for the price of the tires ($100) everyone was happy. Used the car for 5 years and sold it for $500. Are the tires good? Just a thought? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

Welcome Sexymama, what do you drive? Tell us about your Soobs! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer (Summer) 01 Forester

Offer them $50 and you'll tow it! I wouldn't pay more that $100. Sounds like you could take care of it's problems easily but the owner may not have that ability. Start low and see what happens?

Your certainly in the right place. You can't get a more affordable starting platform with a strong supply of spare (junkers) for parts. An off-road Jeep is not unique, an off-road Subaru will turn heads! My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

time to play "stump the chump!"
Sweet82 replied to madkow007's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm with the crowd on this one. Got to be bad/dirty electrical connection. Have you tried jumping (with jumper cables--not jumping on) the car to get it going? I think the noise is normal when you start your car, you just don't notice it with the other noises when the car actually starts. I think your battery is coming back to life after a few minutes and things will work again. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -
Put some fender flares on it! There are only 2 people in SLC with flares. It makes your Forester stand out and look lifted! ($17 Ebay). I also put a wood dash/trim kit in mine ($10 Ebay). Glenn 82 SubaruHummer, No fenders, Checker plate dash, no where to mount a spoiler.... 01 Forester, Flares, Wood Dash, Spoiler................

Wagonman, welcome to the board! My experience has been that all Subarus click and tap! My 82 has done it since.....82! My Forester does the same thing. I think they are just noisy. Just kidding--Someone will give you a real answer! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer clicks and always has..... 01 Forester taps at low rpms.........
