  1. What year is your Subie? I have TWO fuel filters in my 82 Hatch. One under the hood and one just forward of the tank by the pump. Have you done the basic tune up? If not do it! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  2. I think it kinda depends on what you want.... The Outback is a plush nice ride. You sit deep in the car. The Forester is not as plush. You sit higher and look down on the road. I was looking for either too. I test drove everything Subaru made. I purchased the Forester because I got a better deal. Both cars are going to get you from point A to B. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  3. After seeing the pics I'm changing my offer to $50 tops! They truely are in rough shape. They don't run and are rusty, what's he going to do with them anyway? Is there enough good parts to make one Subie? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  4. I have a couple of them on my cars and they help with the rock chips but........ Stuff gets inbetween the plastic and the hood and then scratchs the hood. All kinds of stuff collects in that little space...... You also have to make sure the little plastic bumps that keep the plastic from touching the hood don't get lost....thus allowing the plastic to scrape the hood. I just took one off my Camry as it continually made problems for my hood. Not sure if I'm going to reinstall it or not..... They're not as great as you may think?????? My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  5. You'll want to get all the spatter out of the diff before you seal it back up!!!!! those little bb's can't be good for your gears:rolleyes: Glenn 82 SubaruHummer welded! 01 Forester LSD!
  6. I hate the #$% things but now I know why! Thanks, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer never had an air thingy in it. 01 Forester never going to...
  7. Welcome to the Board! If you don't like the way they are wired...........Change it! A switch and some wire should take care of that little problem. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  8. I have a grind if I shift too fast from first to second and it will pop out of second if I lug it too much? I'm sure it's a syncro prob too... Tell me about this red line stuff? I have never heard of it? Links? Thanks, Glenn
  9. Welcome! With "turbo and super" charging mentioned, I'm wondering what you have planned for this Subaru? Sounds like your looking to set it up for "street" as opposed to "off-road"? Tell us what you have in mind? (Your uploaded pic was blank for me) Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  10. The Police have informed me....... I can't even stay in the "Streel Legal Class" LOL, Glenn 82 Hatch? 01 Forester!
  11. Throw away your body and get the weight down to #1500:D The Buggy is suppose to weigh in at #1275 but I added a few things........ I'm headed to the scales this weekend and that's what I'm guessing anyway. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer, feather weight division 01 Forester, factory weight division
  12. The info I says you have a 14.5 tank on the 1983 GL 4X4. Could the fuel pickup in the tank be higher that the lowest point, thus leaving 3 gallons in the bottom of the tank? ?????The 1983 Hatch has an 11.9 tank????? I'd doubt you have a Hatch tank on your wagon? I'd think you'd be able to see the mounts for the larger tank. (I just checked, It's on the back like everyone else said) For what it's worth, Glenn
  13. I didn't think you could use the words "cool" and "Justy" in the same thread?

    lift kit

David, Welcome to the Board! It may be hard to believe, but you have come to the right place. There is a wealth of experience and information here. I think a lift is a morale imperative if you possess an older Subaru! There are tons of threads on lifts and questions about lifts. I'd bet someone has already asked the same questions that you have and found answers to problems that you'll face...... Try the search thing.........Bet you'll get a great start! Q. What Do you own? Q. What are your plans/ideas for this Subie? Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  15. (can you tell I was a generator mechanic in the Army? hehe) I have two old troopers and love em! But I had no idea they were linked to Subaru? (accept they both had head gasket problems:lol: ) It now makes some sense, The Isuzu 6cyl was the chevy S-10, Chevy is now a part of Subaru. Wow It's all one big auto firm Sorry about hijacking my post.
  16. So it's a 3 cyl with a snowmobile tranny? This sounds like Monster Garage material! "Subaru-Isuzu Automotive Inc. (SIA), a joint venture with Isuzu Motors Ltd., established in the United States" Is Subaru still in bed with Isuzu?
  17. After reading the Justy post earlier this week, I got to wondering, Has anyone Off-roaded a Justy:confused: Do they have Dual Range Trannys? Do they lend themselves to "GL-DL" off-roading/modifications? I know someone in the NW was looking to put ATV tires on one but I don't know who or if they ever did? Comments, THoughts? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  18. What I was getting at was, I don't believe the 4speed ever came with a 3.7 ratio so if you had 4 gears, it would be a 3.9. Then you would only have to know what the rear diff was to figure out if you had a 3.7 - 3.9 problem. That's all Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  19. It would be a problem! How many gears do you have?
  20. I had an intermittent short on my pump years ago. Dealer attached a light to it to see if it was getting power and then let it run till it quit. I recently replaced my fuel pump again--not knowing it was my Fuel Pump Control Unit acting up. The new pump may be a Purolator, I'd have to check. Is your FPCU behaving as it should? Are you getting power? Good luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  21. Welcome to the Board! Plenty of opinions here! I'd investigate the head gasket issues before finalizing a buying decision. I have an 82 and an 01 and love them! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  22. Score! Congrats! What are you going to do about the underside?
