  1. I understand that tire size is critical on AWD vehicles so I thought I'd rotate my tires to get the most out of them --- since I have to replace all of them at once to keep the size similar. So........ I was rotating my tires last night and when I got to the right rear wheel..... It wouldn't come off? I tried kicking the rubber part in different places but no go. I tried prying it but couldn't find anything to fit right. Next I took a 2X4 and a #5 hammer and whacked the rim (carefully). No Go! At this point I realized it could get ugly for me or the Forester so I reinforced all the jack stands so I wouldn't knock the car off the jacks and fall. I ended up crawling under the car and beating the rim until it finally started to move off the studs! What a pain in the @$$. Is this common? Or am I just lucky? Just whinning........ Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  2. Pictures, Pictures, Pictures......... We want to see the process from start to finish not just the finished product.
  3. Had a new one professionally installed no insurance for $130.00 a month ago. I told them they were over priced and they said they would beat the lowest price .................well what would you do............... I made up a low price of $135.00:D Did a great job in 20-25 minutes.
  4. Welcome, There are many Canadians here, Do a search in the members section for "Canada" and I'd bet you'll find more than you thought. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  5. Are those sharks out there by the car? (two in front and one in back) There are some big critters just under the water circleing your Subie:-\ Be careful (when you chase um)
  6. I thought they were the same vehicles just different lighting:lol:
  7. Someone here said they use one of those wrenches that you use to change the blade on your angle grinder. The ones with the two pins? I'm trying that next time I do brakes:confused: Good Luck Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  8. Am I the only one who's fuel door won't stay closed? Every time I look my gas cap cover is slightly open. It doesn't want to stay closed:mad: I've tried bending the latch tab a bit but it seems to just make it impossible to close. Unimportant and irritating. Anyone else have this issue on their Forester? Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  9. According to the 1983 brochure your 83 had the HH option. It probably broke just like the rest. The only vehicles that didn't have the HH were the DL in the non-4WD. If it was a GL or 4WD DL it had the HH in 1983. Look under your hood just under the brake booster for some silver brake cylinders, there should be a valve with a spring attached to it. Probably a broken cable attached to the valve also? Don't bother fixing it! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer, still hates HH clutch. 01 Forester, ain't got one.
  10. I'm full now:grin: Try this see if it helps you..... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=14124&highlight=clock+issues Good luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  11. Lemme do some digging...... I think I did a post, whinning about "clock issues". Do a search for those key words. The responses I got were 100% accurate even to the exact chip that needed a "booster" soldering. The guys here had this problem nailed. I'm gonna go get lunch, if you havn't found it in an hour or so I'll get you the link, when I get food in me:D Hungry, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer with original clock 01 Forester with repaired original clock
  12. Welcome to the board! We all have the same problem, so we only drive during the day!
  13. Ouch! I had problems with my clock but $43 bucks for a new one?????? Using the fix outlined by board members, I had my old clock ticking in about 15 minutes. Either, I'm cheap or that clock is expensive? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer still has orignal clock 01 Forester still has re-soldered orignal clock
  14. I think you can buy a pump that plugs into the cigarette lighter that you can use to pump out the interior of your car----Then you don't even have to stop to empty your Sub! Keep on Swimming! I want a snorkel too! Post some pics and tell us how you did it! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer, wants a snorkel 01 Forester, also wants a snorkel
  15. It doesn't work and you don't use it! There is a spring loaded cable that goes from your clutch pedal to your brake system. When you press the clutch pedal in, the cable pulls a valve shut on your brake system. As you release the pedal the spring opens the valve again. My cable broke when the car was 3 years old and I have never fixed it. I know others will disagree but, I think it's dangerous for offroading as it gives un-natural response from the vehicle. (it won't roll back with the clutch in). My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer, not a fan of the HH clutch 01 Forester
  16. My vote is rust! Looks like your gonna have to crawl under the car to solve this one??? Or improve your driving so your rear seat passengers don't wet.......well never mind
  17. She will return home! They are not shipping those over seas and they are not going to Mexico. No doubt you will get your car back, it may just take some time.
  18. Tell us more about it's death? What makes you suspect fuel/fuel filters? How long does it run before dying?
  19. Is it finished? I think he should do some mods! Where's the texas long horns....what about the dual wheels all the way around........3 windshield wipers for better coverage?...... I think he has a way to go......... Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  20. Welcome! Your in the right place, this place is full of people with issues:rolleyes: . Tell us more about your 86 and it's issues. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  21. On the news last night in SLC a 1996 Legacy wagon was hit by lightning! No one got hurt but it blew out all four tires cooked the electrical system! They said it was about $3,000 worth of damage to the electrical system. Poor Subie:-\
  22. Welcome! Sounds like your a member of just about everyboard out there.... Got to tell you a secret........This ones the best! What do you drive? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  23. Lifting it would be the easy part. What would you do about trying to drive it. First gear wouldn't be real happy with big tires on the flat land:burnout: It would be even worse off-road. I tried climbing with my stock setup and was disappointed. It wouldn't climb it would just kill:banghead:
  24. Nice work, I have always liked that car! Now it's even better!
  25. Find a buddy in Law enforcement and get the plate or vin traced. Once you have a name, finding a good current address will be tough! The registration will likely come back to the address they were evicted from. People like this are hard to track. If the landlord is willing to file the papers that would be the quickest and easyest. I'd offer him a $100 and filing costs.
