  1. also there is a simplke rule that applies to any problem. Change just one thing at a time. Otherwise your adding an exponential amount of variables to a problem and may never figure out the solution. Also look at the simplest solution first. nipper
  2. I had this sort of happen to me once. The virgin switch on the steering column. If it is in the middle position, you will not have running lights. Mine was in the middle position for 2 days and made me nuts. You couldnt tell it was in the middle by looking at it easily. I must have knocked it at some point. So maybe you had two problems. The brake lights in this car do not cross the parking light circuit, but they do run in parallel to it. Remove all the brake light bulbs (not the 3rd light) and see if the parking lights stop doing thier brake thing. If the 3rd light is staying on it may be the brake light switch is stuck. nipper
  3. Removing it is easy, cleaning it is tough, though i do need to remeber the pebble trick. nipper
  4. By the name of it it sounds like some sort of old USSR military weapon nipper
  5. Its a subaru rebuilt alt I washed it after i replaced the month, about a year after that pic (and why do these things always fail when they are full?) nipper
  6. Thats it in a 1997. I dont know if right hand is different from left hand under the hood (as far as landmarks) as far as the washer tank etc. It is next to the windshield washer tank. It is the silver can with the hose coming off it (on my car) by the brake master cylinder. nipper
  7. Take it to an independent shop while it is still cold. Let it sit overnight outdoors. Let them start it up and have them report that it was yard starting etc and what they think the problem is, otherwise you will have a problem. I am just surprosed Turkey has a lemon law nipper
  8. I tend to see things from a shops point of view, and a coolant flush on the shop level is a money maker for them, and they never clean out the tanks, since time is money. Thats why i say they are never cleaned. nipper
  9. Its a subaru, they do that. We consider those to have accurate gas gauges to be "wierd" and outsiders Learn to rely more on the trip odometer and the low fule light, though there is nothing wrong with filling up on E at 10 gallons. Imagine filling up on E and it taking 18 gallons, THEN you would worry (especially when they only hold 15.9). nipper
  10. The tanks are never cleaned. I would just clean the tank (good luck on that, I did it and it was a PITA due to its shape), and not worry about it. The brown stuff can be anything from age, dirt, results of road grime, coolant additive. nipper
  11. you have torque bind. First thing to try is a auto tranny fluid flush. nipper
  12. Yes those i can yell at. i can't yell at someone with just an idiot light nipper
  13. In this neighboorhood a faltbed at 1-5am sticks out like a sore thumb and wakes everyone up. And its not that fast. NOw Ive had motorcycles stolen that were gone 1-2-3. nipper
  14. I do like that, its simple and elegants, and is basically a low tech combo lock
  15. It could be but i am not about to say yes and have you throwing money at something as expensive as a transmission that has limited abillity to be diagnosed over the net. Lets see if someone else chimes in, maybe they have seen this themselves. nipper
  16. Wonder if subaru has any of those laying around nipper
  17. 2.5 would bring the car back up to original specs, and i am just a big fan of the 2.5 (having ownde both of them). nipper
  18. Hold on to your old one. There is no standard for rebuilt/reman . They may have just replaced the contacts and repainted it. nipper
  19. Give me a few days, hit me up next week, i may found something for you, just i'm busy this weekend. nipper
  20. If this is a used starter inspect the contacts before you put it in. nipper
  21. The major stuff would be the same. The body stuff and some heating stuff will be different. If you can buy one used someplace cheap It would work. I should see if i can find FSM for Imps. nipper
