  3. . sounds like the previous owner porked the AWD unit. Its a sealed unit in this car. DO measure the tire. You may get lucky and that can be the source of the problem. Maybe its caught early. nipper
  4. Yes sometimes the plunger pops out of the solenoid. im sure somone else will chime in with a better explination, its happesn a few times a year here. Look on the outback board too. nipper
  5. ok here you go. Its a simple system. You either have a bad relay or solenoid in the system. YOu should hear a click when you have the car on, foot on the brake, and press the gear shift button. If you dont there lies the problem. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=46496&highlight=Key+Stuck maybe that will help http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7763&highlight=interlock nipper
  6. Check the universal joints in the driveshaft. nipper
  7. You have to measure the odd tire. Tires can vary in size from brand and mfg within the same size. Measure the circumfrance. The drivetrains last, if you take care of them. Parts do wear out, thats normal. Nothing lasts for ever, otherwise they wouldnt make replacemnt parts. nipper
  8. o2 sensors dont last for ever, they wear out in time. That would have been the first thing i changed, along with a tune up. But thats just me :-p Another possability is leaking fuel injectors or worn fuel injectors. Also dump a can of that fuel additive that guarentees passing. I dont like them, but after three tries its time. nipper
  9. Jump the thermoswitch, its should start the fans. If it doesnt then you need to look at the fan or the relay. nipper
  10. The brakes are in the mail? Thats a new on one the check is in the mail :-p nipper
  11. VSS the car goes into FWD and shuts down the AWD system. nipper
  12. And change the oil after a car overheats. Just good insurance. niper
  13. Oo someone in SD besides my nephew .. may ill skip ND all together. nipper
  14. YOu can drive with thew FWD fuse in. It will save you a major repair in the awd units. you wont hurt anything. nipper
  15. Have you done the basics? Do the tires all match, equally worn with 1/4 inch cirumfrence and properly inflated? Put the FWD fuse in the holder and see if it goes away. Have you ever fully flusged the tranny? nipper
  16. I thought that was on loyales. He has a legacy. I get so confused on these years and who is who :-p nipper
  17. Green connectors are always diagnostic on soobies. I cant tell where the other one is, as it may be some sort of diagnostic connector. It sure looks like a scanner connection (ABS Airbags etc). nipper
