only thing i would ask is how are the rubo bearing cooled. If they are water cooled, just do what you are doing (it makes me cringe) if the are oil cooled, its no so much that the bearings are hard on the oil, but the bearings need all the help they can get to stay clean and lubrictaed. The turbo spins at 50,000 rpm or more and sees high tempertiures, and they are not cheap to replace. Not to endorse anything but this explains it well http://www.performanceoiltechnology.com/syntheticoilandturbochargers.htm nipper

thats WAY too much oil. do you have cruise control? nipper

a slight but and it clicks? sounds like your past "going" bad and well into "is" bad. Depends if it is awd or manaul 4wd. manual 4wd will get you to the garage. AWD may get you to the shop, but you have to stay below 50mph. with a broken cv joint at 50 the awd in the automtic does weird things, all not good for the car. the awd dissconnects at this speed to protect itself as the spee differnce between the front and rear is too extreeme for it to deal with. This was shown by someone else who drive miles with this, and thats what he had happen. If its a manual with awd, i would think it wouldnt be too healthy for tthe viscous coupling. Also there is the chance of the axle seizing in the cv coint then ALL sorts of fun starts. nipper

You check the oil with the car off as the dipstick can show anyehre from nooil to overfilled dependeing upon the make of car. Shut the car off for 5 minutes (usually long enough) then check the oil level. If im correct 70,000Kilometers is about 42,000 miles. Is your oil brown or milky white? Does it smell like gas. DO you have an ex girlfreind who is screwing with your head i cant think of how oil can disapear then reapeer. maybe some sort of vaum lock in the engie, no idea im reaching here so dont tell me im nuts i would suggest an oil pressure gauge first to see if there is a pattern, ryhm or reason, or just gremlins. It would confirm or rule out the switch Of course then there is the other question, you are parking on level ground when you check the oil nipper

If ti does it alot, use D3. I have been out there and what looks like hilly terrain are really LONG climbs that can be deceiving to the eye. D3 will save the tranny wear, loose some gas milage, but wil also make the driver less paranoid as to "why the hell is it doing that when im 100's of miles away from a service station" Just make sure he checks the fluids. nipper

Any of the foreign made deisels will run forever. I look it at is a whole car isse. if the seats are falling apart, switches dont work, ac cant be fixed, then i really dont consider the car a good high milage car, Thats just my threshold. i dont care what it looks like on the outside, as i spend most my time on the inside ive gotten rid of good running cars only because the parts were getting so hard to find, and usually those were non drive train parts. nipper

AHA did you apply it from the bottom of the cable or the top. Should be applied minimally at the bottom. You may have to remove the cable and clean it. Did the gauges start acting funky at the same time? nipper

New york is easy, 30" ground height from frame to ground. They also want mud flaps (common sense). i do remeber to that you can't have more then 2 sets of accessory lights. i have seen the 30" measured form the lowest point on the axle. Very little enforcement here, unelss you have an accident. nipper

The oil can be from the spedometer cable, May be time to replace it, or check it to make sure it is tight. Yese there is a volatge regulator/reducer for the gauges. May be going bad. nipper

Actually its common to alot of cars out in the country and suburbs, espcially if the car sits for any length of time, and there is a food source to be had. MIce can make themselves surprisingly flat to get into air grills etc. You may have a freind now. Bets thing to do is not to leave food in the car, park it in a differnt place if you can for a while, and ir there are any open air intakes, cover them with chicken wire. nipper -
Everyone needs a good rant Actually the blus lights that arent true blue lights, are dangerous. They may look cool, but they wash out in the rain. i tried them, and after a month i had to get rid of them as i might as well be driving with my headlights off in the rain for all the good they did. nipper

i use them when the rodas are wet, as they reflect better the area in front of the car then stock headlights. i also use them in snow and fog.. sa the thoery is that they get under the fog to light up the road, and not bounce back in your face. In snow they wont bounce the light back in your face. Never overdrive your headlights in bad weather. nipper
