maximum wheel sizes and offsets for an rx?
With your 4 lug eddy your options are pretty limited. You could swap to 5 lug and do what Styles is doing, but if you want quick and easy I'd say find a set of pug rims. They are Peugeot and are pretty much the only manufacturer who uses the same lug pattern as our RX's. Im running 195/50R15's on my RX, but a set of 195/50 or 55/14's would be nice and fit well on the car. I might even know where a set of 14" pug alloys might be -Brian

Stupid Auto Parts Stores.
I just got a reply from Magnacore and placed an order with them. I should get the wires by next week. The man sais they are only for XT's, but Im sure XT's have the same EA82 Layout as my RX. The wires cant be any different, right? I read on that page that MSD MAster Blaster II part number 8202 were unreliable and to stay away from them. Looks like im looking for a different coil then. -Brian

I Want to try the MSD this time. I had the Accel in my Brat, and after reading some horror stories on here about them I think i'll try the other. I've also used the 8mm "make yourself" wire set from Accel but I'd like to get some magnecor this time around. Thanks everybody for their replies -Brian

Found it at summit racing for $35 but they dont have the wires. I emailed magnecor and we'll see what they say. Found the part number for the wires tho. And MSD's site confirms the 8202 coil is CARB legal -Brian

Stupid Auto Parts Stores.
Funny you should say that Rob because today when I stopped at Autozone the clerk saw that I was wearing my Subaru shirt. Its a short sleave tech shirt. He mentioned something about it and said they'd have to ship any of the parts I was looking for. This was even before I asked for a coil (didnt even bother to trouble him with the disty cap). He said he'd have to order wires, and they had coils but they were some off-brand. Then he giggled and said "told you so". I guess they stopped stocking Subaru parts. Thanked him for being so unhelpful and went to Kragen where the Assistant Manager took the time to pull out the book. I hope I got the right parts, it was the only disty cap listed for 87-89 Sube's that had the screw's instead of the clips. I'll cross my fingers -Brian

Did you browse the .pdf catalog and call in the order or something Dave? I didnt find an order sheet or browsable catalog other than the .pdf. Havnet thought about ebay for the coil. -Brian

RX engine trouble?

Stupid Auto Parts Stores.
I went to 5 different parts stores and NOBODY had spark plug wires or a MSD coil for the RX I also went to 3 of them before I found the correct distributor cap. We had to look it up in a HUGE book of pictures and cross refference part numbers to find it. Sucked I guess im placing an order for magnacore wires. Does anyone know of a online merchant that sells the wires and a MSD coil? I cant find many online merchants that have Magnacore Wires for a EA82T. -Brian

RX engine trouble?
What color is the smoke? If its blue smoke than you are burning oil. If its white smoke you are burning coolant and if its black smoke that means your burning too much fuel. The bubbling in the overflow tank leads me to believe you have lost a head gasket... but if you did that your car would be overheating. Did you notice your car running hotter than normal? The ticking could be anything... it would be hard to identify unless we were there. -Brian

best material for ic piping
I got my pipe from an online warehouse. I bought 2 3/8" O.D. stainless steel mandrel bends. I bought two U bends and cut them in half to make four 90 degree elbows. Then I bought 2 3/8" I.D. silicone couplers from Turbohoses.com. I used a can of blue engine enamel to paint the pipe. The hose comming out of my turbo is just 1.75" I.D. and 2" O.D silicone 90 degree bend. I have a 2 3/8" ID to 2" ID reducer that mates the turbo hose to the stainless steel leading to my I.C. THe pipe cost me $28 shipped to my door, i recieved it 4 days after i ordered it. The hoses cost me almost $60 for the 3 pieces shipped. Dont expect to find any cheap silicone out there. I plan to replace the rubber reducer I have now for a silicone one, but they are much more expensive. What IC do you have? -Brian

NV To WCSS Caravan Thread...
Take our time probably. Jibs will most likely have his brat PACKED with a trailer behind it. We'll probably make worse time than you NV folk -Brian

rear trailing arm replacement (83 Brat)
Dont waste your time with EA82 stuff Jibs. The rear disk brakes will bolt up to EA81 trailing arms and it will be alot easier to work with EA81 stuff. Any rear trailing arm from any 4WD EA81 wagon, hatch or sedan (even brat) will work. I would look for something in the 1986 range at the yard, to ensure the lowest of miles. -Brian

Off road-cool bumpers??
Expect to pay anywhere between $300 to $500 for the set, front and rear. Depends on who you have make them, if you can find a local fabricator to make them you might get them alittle cheaper. What i did was made up some drawings of what I wanted, and sent them to Tony at TWB. He then used a parts car to fit everything up, made my front bumper and my roof rack to my spec's and i went to pick them up. -Brian

Contacted 4wheel & off road Mag re:WCSS
Thanks for sharing that Eric. I still doubt we'll get any coverage in an off-road magazine, i think we should shoot for something like Autoweek, Motor Trend, or maybe that classic car magazine (cant remember the name). A general automotive magazine would be easier to get coverage from, since the off-road mag's tailor primarily to Jeeps and Toyota's. -Brian
