Lights mounted on the bumper
TheSubaruJunkie replied to LoyaleFan's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
A few years ago I stumbled into a Pawn Shop in Anchorage and there sitting on the shelf were 2 sets of Subaru issue OEM fog lights. With the switch, relays and wiring all boxed up. I haggled him down to $35 for both sets. Sold one set to a friend for cheap and setup the 2nd pair. They were amber fog lights, and worked great. Were plenty bright for the subie and everything was pretty much plug-n-play. Chef Tim now has that set, and i havent seen another since (except for one remaining on a few junk yard cars... glass already broken). -Brian -
Ive been wondering if the wagon would hobble up the mountain to reno. But it has no tags, and I really cant risk it. If I could find another rig I might be able to get something going. I dont think the RX is up for another off-road meet -Brian

Yeah, he's a real good guy. Hung out with him and Adam on a weekend off-road trip (when I went and picked up my bumper from him). I havent heard from him in a while. I tried to contact him for the WCSS6 last year, but he said he would be too busy to attend. -Brian -

I cant believe I havent posted one yet Here's my Wagons lights: And here it is after I installed my new bumper: I only had one pair of the top lights wired, but I chose to install the wiring and switch on a high rise center console: Anyhow... its all gotta come out now. I have to retire my wagon, when I install it on its next subaru... everything will be done propper. -Brian -

TheSubaruJunkie replied to subaru_styles's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Those rims definatly make the car look different. It looks better IMO. Are the 17's going on the coupe now? -Brian -
My new to me XT6 is alive!! OMG (Pic added)
TheSubaruJunkie replied to Qman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Will we see this baby in action at the WCSS? I remember that XT6 that showed up at WCSS3 and that baby was a screamer! Cant wait to see this beauty tearin it up. Lookin good Ken. -Brian -
With your engine running you could go back there and feel the pump. If its vibrating its working. Check your filters. Maybe take them off and shake them... if you cant see through all the dirt -Brian
-
Replace the filters. Also, your pump is back there as well... and its not uncommon for them to fail. On my lifted wagon, i have a switch that controls my fuel pump. I just hard wired it because the 20+ yr old wiring had finally failed. -Brian

New line of Subaru GL Cookies!
TheSubaruJunkie replied to SuBrat84's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah, but put a lift on your next brat cookie! Got Milk? -Brian -
The Discoverer's have been a great road trip tire for my wagon as well. Ive clocked 2 round trip's to Oregon and back and one round trip to Seattle and back. The tires still have enough tread to survive a few more runs. I dont know about mounting Swampers under a legacy. I had thought of putting my 27" Coopers on my Turbo Legacy, when i had it, but the rotors were too large for 14" rims. -Brian

You can store the ATV here Or the brat :-P -Brian

what's this...??
TheSubaruJunkie replied to Subaru_dude's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Jessica, you need to get your own screen name so you dont make eli sound like a doof :-p Yeah, you found the flywheel. the plug isnt all that important. -Brian -
The newer EA81 would probably have larger valves if it had hydrolic valves. If both engines have hydrolic valves then there will be no difference. The rotors are not a direct swap, you must use the calipers from the same era as well. You might be able to use the solid rotors with vented calipers, but if you have solid rotors right now and want to use vented, you'll need to swap over the calipers. -Brian

My reader's ride article is up!
TheSubaruJunkie replied to carfreak85's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Looks good. I made mine a little while ago... pretty descriptive but I need to add a couple new things. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/article.php?a=93 -Brian -
Now that theres a even OLDER-gen forum, i feel I have to make it be known My very 1st car, and the car that started it all for me was a 1979 Wagon. I always thought it was a DL, but it had a tach... so maybe a GL. My mother took this picture the day after I bought it I only had it for about 8 months before I lost my license. Then I went sube-less for a while. But I impressed myself and alot of my friends with that car. We nicknamed it The Misery Machine (Parady of The Mystery Machine from scooby doo). It got me through Highscool though, all winter without a problem. About a year or so ago I found this gem nearby, and scored it at no charge (except for a 300mile drive home in a car that hadn't ran in 2 years). But one look and I couldnt say no... After I got that '78 Wagon, I found a local Subaru enthusiast who was interested in restoring it. Sold it to him and will plan on keeping in touch to check its progress. So far the body is being treated for rust before a fresh coat of paint goes on. So there we go... my Historic Subaru History -Brian

TheSubaruJunkie replied to subaru_styles's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I dont care where they are made, those rims are hot. And I think they'd look great on a white RX instead! -Brian
