  1. I was going to do this when i had my 92 SS, but never got around to it. Some told me it was a direct bolt on. -Brian
  2. Turbo TImer...? Uhm, usually when I park... i sit for a few seconds. Then remove the face plate from my stereo. Set the parking brake & by the time Im done with all that I hope my turbo has spooled down then I shut the engine off -Brian
  3. Now i understand, yeah... thats something I was planning to do. I need to find a better way to secure the BPV intake, behind the MAF. -Brian
  4. I mounted it there cause thats where the pipe put it. If my bends were a little tighter and the pipe out of my turbo was alittle tighter, I could probably move the IC up a couple inches. But it went there upon install, and I set the mounts back there as well. it has plenty of space under the IC: Im thinking of installing a fan under the IC to suck air in. We'll see after I install the scoop and see where the air flows. On the BPV, i need to do more work on that. Do you mean put the valve closer to the intake pipe? or move it alltogether? -Brian
  5. Scoop is in the mail. The scoop is large enough to cool the intercooler and i may install a chiminee from a Legacy Turbo to direct cold air over the turbo. -Brian
  6. The new gauge rocks. The needle doesnt vibrate on boost and I can clearly read what PSI im running at. Looks like it peaks at 7psi, but we'll see what we can do about that -Brian
  7. Another day off, another day to work on the car. I got a few things in the mail and. One thing was a new boost guage. The old one was starting to freak out, and I couldnt trust it anymore. The new one is backlit, which is alot better than what I had before. I also stopped and got some paint and sand paper. I chose Dark ford blue engine enamel. It sais its rated to 550 degree's so I figure it should be good enough for my intake pipe: I even used it to paint the silicone elbow comming from my turbo. It worked out okay, but its already comming off. I'll just have to replace it. Here are some pix of the pipe hanging from fishing line... Stay tuned cause there's another day off tomorrow -Brian
  8. I would have lined up my circles to make sure they were even with eachother... wait a second, no i wouldnt... cause i would never have done anything like that. Way to ruin a pair of hard-to-find coupe rear taillights. -Brian
  9. Only EA81 body styles ive ever seen with 5lug were crazy EJ20TT swaps and dropped WRX conversions. I'd imagine it could be done, the 6 lug conversion is alot easier however. -Brian
  10. Why not modify the WRX Scoop to fit, then make a mold of the modified scoop? -Brian
  11. I'll have a WRX scoop you can use Odd... But i need it back (shortened by 5" HAHAHAHA) -Brian
  12. Headgaskets sometimes dont give fair warning. Not impossible to blow a gasket, expecially right after doing some dyno runs. -Brian
  13. THats another idea I have. As a matter of fact, i just won a 2002 WRX scoop off ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7965915724 What did you use to re-attatch the Scoop? And is 5" what I need to cut? -Brian
  14. Mount Hamilton was the trip! I remember, we met up there that day... you had a toyota tho :\ You wont see me at another Nasioc meet. But maybe we should show up in the GL10 and RX one year just to represent. Maybe i'll run with the 15's, but i do have a set of 14" alloys that are screamin for some new tires. somehow, i dont think 27" M/T's will fit on the RX (yet). I open on Sunday's at work, but I can always talk to the boss and swing a deal. Russ. Will my Intercooler & MBC screw with different class's as well? -Brian
  15. Alittle more photoshop action. This is probably what the scoop would look like after mounted the way I want. Im liking it. -Brian
  16. Last time I went on a caravan with the I-Club/Nasioc crew to a meet, i almost died... not once but 3 times. The WRX kiddies have NO IDEA how to drive in a pack. It was horrible, whoever was leading the pack was driving 45 on the freeway, and everybody wanted to follow a WRX, so nobody could get onto the freeway since all the WRX's wouldnt make room for them. This was with 300+ WRX's as well. Me in my Turbo Legacy and a couple friends in theirs. Anyhow... i dont car what place Im in. If this will be on gravel/dirt, the tires I have now will have no chance at all. -Brian
  17. Ok, hopefully i get outbid on this WRX scoop on ebay. If not, i will have two idea's to go with. If I go the shaker way, i will need to find a way to mount the scoop to the spare tire mount, elevated enough to stick up through the hood. Skip, i got your PM. Reply and I'll set things straight. Ive been hanging onto this hood since you sent it to me... what, 5... 6 years ago?? I even sent it to Chef Tim at one point for a project of his, but he never used it. I emailed him a year or so ago and got it back I think i will go with this scoop. I'll paint it white and then lay it on the hood to see what it looks like. -Brian
  18. This is what I have so far: There are alot more pictures here: http://gallery.usmb.net/scoop It looks kinda gay, but I like it. I plan on mounting the scoop inside the engine bay, and have a hole in the hood for the scoop to fit through. Have it mounted shaker style, so it will sit alittle lower in the hood (and at a different angle) than pictured. In my mind I think it'd look sweet. But everybody i ask, sais otherwise. And not like am building my car to please my friends... but I dont want to drive something that looks like rump roast... and i value my friends opinions. So I ask... should I go orignal... or just do what everyone else is doing and buy a knock-off WRX scoop? I cant seem to find any other scoop I like. Here's another idea I had: I was thinking of cutting a slit in the hump on my hood, and flaten everything in front and create a scoop using the hump in the hood. -Brian
  19. I paid $310 to have (4) 205/75R14's mounted to my subaru. So i cant say you got a great deal, but you sure beat me. Where did you find yours? Mine need replacing as soon as I can find another rig to lift. -Brian
  20. Goto the junkyard and get a new ECU. Small enough to fit in a pocket. Problem solved. -Brian
  21. Jay, if your going to be in San Fran, i can come deliver it to you. I live 2 hours north in Sac. A co-worker has a shop, hes a driver for a local race team. Me and him were brain storming some ideas for a scoop. For now, i have installed 4 washers in the hood hinge, hope that lets the IC breathe alittle. -Brian
  22. Im interested. can you fill me in on any red tape I'll need to fish through? I'll have to find time off work, but i know the RX is more than ready. Maybe i'll find some old snow tires to throw on the 14" alloys and have a spare set of rally tires around -Brian
  23. Thanks guys A guy at work has a small powder coating operation and said he can do these pipes for me. I think i'll have them coated in blue. -Brian
