Lake Tahoe Snow Run.
TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I just got my tires and its 5pm. I realized the Subaru lugs wont work for these 15" pugs, so I probably wont have them on the car for tomorrow Im thinking i'd be in Carson around 2pm. To make it easier, i could take Highway 80 up to Reno, and we could meet there... then hit 395 to Carson. Its faster than me taking 50 the entire way. Jeremy, are you doing the carb rebuild that I suggested? Or just taking it a part? -Brian -
Styles... look at the turn signals on those Euro RX's and then compare them to all our EA82 bumpers. I dont think any of our bumpers have turn signals like that. I want -Brian

Change of plans. I'll be going to Carson City on Thursday to hit the p-n-p there. I heard there's an XT6 there so maybe we can get together in Carson. -Brian -
I want those front bumpers! And why didnt we ever get an interior like this: The steering wheel in my RX is stupid looking, that steering wheel is freakin AWESOME!! -Brian

Whynot? Get them mounted! hehe you wont be sorry you did. Dave, is everything there turning into cement? There's a Tract off of hwy 50... a few miles past Kyburz that Ive been wanting to check out for a while now. I hope its open in the winter. -Brian -

Studs are only better for ice... wont do anything for just plain snow. I was thinking of the Kyburz area Dave. This thursday works for me. -Brian -
And its not much of a hanger.... since nothing is hanging from it. I'd say all its doing is stopping any side-to-side movement. Bet it sounds better than it looks -Brian

Easy solution... dont let anyone lean on it. Corky, I say... do what you wish You wont see me try to change your mind. Except, i'd really think about that twin turbo idea. Just to add more Super to the SuperCar. -Brian

If he had the front done, im sure we could get a full size pic But im sure Caleb was too lazy to do the front too... huh? Lookin great, i like the clearance between the wheel and fender, but it should look great lowered. -Brian -
part time 4wd to full time dual range with diff lock

Almost positive the Center is Open/Locked. Not LSD/Locked. The low range of the RX isnt as low as the standard 5spd D/R tranny. -Brian -

Carry some WD40 to help clean and dry your disty and Cap. Also its nice to have a spare on hand -Brian -

Do the RX tranny swap. YOU'LL LOVE IT! I love my RX tranny, that low gear comes in real handy at red lights, uphill and definatly in snow/sand! -Brian -

YEs, it covers a 4 cyl disty cap... just like our EA81's. There's an opening off to the side where all 5 wires come out. I had to cut my rubber boot alittle to clear the vacuum advance, but other than that, it buttoned up just fine and did a GREAT job of keeping water out. As long as you dont completly stop in the water you'll be fine. -Brian -

This wasnt deep enough to kill the car the 1st pass through: But when I tried to get back through If your planning on crossing water, you might want to do something to seal off the distributor cap. Ive tried grease, rubber sealant, and even a yellow rubber dishwashing glove ziptied around all the wires. But nothing has worked as good as the Toyota 22R RUber Disty cap i have -Brian -
Awesome. I think you should stick AWD in the Twin Turbo version. -Brian
-
What are you going to do about the tranny? I think a mid-engined Subaru would be badass. Thats also a good way to encorporate the new grill design. I say go for it, and since there's room back there for 2 turbo's... hrm... -Brian

TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Well.. what did I say guys? It snowed!! And you know what that means... If things go right, i'd like to take a run up to Kyburz or outside of Tahoe on Thursday the 28th. Maybe even the 21st. Jeremy, JB you guys have Thursdays off right I know Jeremy just got some new snowtires that need to be broken in. -Brian -
Take your speaker and line it up with at least one of the holes, and screw it in place. Then take a marker and mark 3 other holes and prepare to drill. Use a small bit and the screws should fit right in. If the speakers are too deep they might hit the window when it gets rolled down. Check that before you put your side panels back on, cause it sucks when you find out and have to tear everything back out again. -Brian

We'll need to get together in the mountains then Jeremy, where the snow will be staying for a while. I should have my tires and rims mounted in a week or two. WJM... the rims are just 15" Pug alloys, nothing special. Pix will come when they're mounted. -Brian -

Soon... i promise. Jeremy, how long will that snow be up there? Dave, do you still have alot of snow? I have a couple tripod's here of various heights that i think will help, and another camcorder Just need more cameramen.... -Brian -
No brat ever came standard with 5lug. They're still considered Gen2. -Brian

Felt like being back in Alaska... its been a LOOONG time since i've drifted around corners like that. Next time i'll bring a tripod Also, that rear LSD really kicks the rear end out. I could feel it doing its thing 100% of the time... i loved it!!! I'll be back after I get new tires for sure. -Brian -
Not sure if Cooper has any distributors there in Aus, but you might wnat to look into getting a set of Cooper Discoverer STT's. I have a set in 215/75R14 and they're great! 26.1" in diameter, a real agreesive mud-terrain pattern but still relativly quiet on the road. -Brian
