  1. I have the GL10 Turbo wagon in the garage, and i pulled the intake plentum off (i believe thats what its called) and found myself confused. I know the basic's. But theres alot i still dont know about the EA82, and expecially the EA82T. The engine looks very clean overall, im suprised. Its been sitting for 4 months, and has webs everywhere, but not much oil. I noticed the turbo had some oil residue pooled up around the rubber tube though. I took a picture of the engine, and marked some sections i have questions on. 1st off, I think its safe to say, the intercooler goes between point A and point B... correct? I noticed alittle oil inside of point A, but the throttle body was very clean. What is the purpose of the hose marked C? I noticed it goes into the plentum, is it neccessary? Also, part D looks like it might be damaged. The top was off and I noticed a red and black wire inside. Tried to put the top of it on, but its real loose, not sure if its been damaged, but what does it do? and can it be modified Since this car is in my garage, i figure'd i'd wrench alittle and learn alot. I plan to make this car fast. Skip and SubaruTex, there is alot i have to ask you guys After its fast, i will sell it off to someone on the USMB (prefferably in Oregon or Washington, where there is no smog) -Brian
  2. Ive come to the conclusion i will fix it and sell it. Its sitting in my garage right now. Who wants to buy it? After its running of course. -Brian
  3. Toyota, Chevy, any standard 6 lug rim can be made to fit our Subaru's -Brian
  4. I got my 5 pugs for $80, if they were 14" steels, i could have gotten all 5 for $60. The chevy rims will look cooler tho. Some other tires to look for are Super Swamper SSR's & SST i believe. They're avail in 27-29" on 14" and 15" rims. -Brian
  5. Ken, your tires are only 27"???? Wow, they look alot bigger than that. Mine are 26", i run them on a 3" lifted wagon with no rubbing. I cut the front and rear of my fender to clear alittle, but did not need to cut anything off the top of the fender... and my struts and suspension are cranked down all the way (not up). Boz, i'll setup an account for you and PM you with the info. no need to resize, the gallery will do it for you. -Brian
  6. Yeah, i no longer have admin rights on the USMB. but the gallery isn't hosted with the USMB, the gallery is actually hosted on my private server, using software i setup I gave Shawn admin rights to the gallery to create users. I will fix yours and PM you with the info. -Brian
  7. If the engine doesnt run, then I wouldnt buy it. $500 is WAY too much for a EA81T that isn't guarantee'd to run. THe major problem with the motors are cracked heads. Have them start that car, listen to it run, then hand them the cash. It would be alot of work to fit into your '80 hatch, but it would be a fun car afterward. -Brian
  8. And also... no, the front and rear hubs are different. -Brian
  9. Actually Ken, The only one's who can set him up with an account are Shawn and I. Shawn seems real busy lately, so chances are the only one who would be able to do it would be me. You can attatch files to your post tho if you have an image you want to share. -Brian
  10. Dont bother, you wont get them from TireRack. They are on backorder and Kumho has no intention to make them any longer. I ended up going with Discoverer STT's from Cooper. Check out their site (not sure what the addy is) but i was able to find them for $77ea mounted and ballanced from a local Cooper dealership. -Brian
  11. Check it out... Evidence there WAS a Turbo Justy in existance: Its called a REX, but modelled after a early model Justy, and its listed in the descripion with Turbo as an option. -Brian
  12. SWEEEEEEEEEEET!!! I cant wait. I was thinking of having it coated with rhino lining or line-x... or that do-it-yourself bed liner. -Brian
  13. OOOOO OOOOO OOO!!!! Are pix of my rack up?!? BRB -Brian
  14. Yeah, i got proven wrong over the weekend in Oregon. Tony has a GL10 with 27" mudders and a 2" rear lift. He welded his diff and went everywhere me and Adam went, and alot faster too might I add. -Brian
  15. Todd, you would be the person to ask. Either you or Moosens, not much of us know anything about those old rigs. Great score tho! My 1st sube was a '79, and i have a chance to get a '78 but with a 4spd. Do they make some sort of MMO for auto trannies? 130K isnt alot in the Subaru world, the tranny should still be good. -Brian
  16. Thats not bad at all. Remember to keep us informed. Are these on the lifted hatch? I would like to know if REAL cv's will last longer for off-road use. Im pretty happy with the CV life I have now. One CV in my wagon is actually a used CV i got from EdRach a LONG time ago. The other CV is a new reman. I had 2 new reman's, but one of them didnt make it longer than 1200 miles before it blew... had to replace it with another reman that is starting to click now. Edrach's used CV has held up through 2 reman's. -Brian
  17. True. Everyone would love to have a EJ22 in their brat. But reasonably thinking, its not as easy as bolting together a EA81 and slapping it in there. And I still think 140hp with a tiny Subaru brat would FLY! Expecially a N/A EA81 where all your power is right where you want it. Drag racing=no Dirt rally=yes -Brian
  18. Oh Yeah, MrGuyver... im sure he's done it. Not sure what the difference between EA81 and EA82 but im sure the EA81 will be alot better than the EA71. Maybe try to get the suspension from a 2WD EA81 Sedan or Wagon. I think the suspension is softer and alittle lower profile than the 4WD. -Brian
  19. Ive never heard of anyone using EA82 suspension on a EA81. At least the front, i know the rear would work with the rear struts, but without a lift kit it messes up a bunch of stuff. -Brian
  20. Only people I know of live in Australia. There are a couple people in the US who has done a EA82 swap, but ive never heard of one of us doing a EA82T swap? -Brian
  21. http://www.ramengines.com/_wsn/page2.html -Brian
  22. Uhm... I was talking to a guy who fab's cams for aircraft use. He told me he can make a cam, and doubled with a weber and tuned right would make 130hp. Im not sure if youve ever seen a gen1 brat. But they are tiny. And very light. if you tore everything out of it and lightened it even more, and stuck a 100hp EA81 in it, you would rip the doors off of everyone else. 130hp would be even more scary. Coupled with a Full Time 4WD 5spd, and you would be almost unstoppable. -Brian
  23. hahaha GL10... offroad??? One of you guys has to lift your subes soon so i have someone to wheel with. -Brian
  24. I might be willing to get one as well. Was thinking of putting my tailgate on eBay and make some money, would like to have something nice to replace it with. -Brian
