  1. Ive had CV's on the bearings so tight, the bearing actually came out with the CV. That sucks, cause after that happens, you need to replace the bearings. That was only once, every other CV ive done they were simple to get out. And I cant even count how many ive done. Tim, how much did those new axles run you? -Brian
  2. Wont fit. The OHC makes the EA82 wider than the EA81. You'd have to modify the frame rails to get it to fit, and you would have to wire everything and run new fuel lines. Stay simple. Lighten the car, put a EA81 in it with a weber and aftermarket cam. Get 130hp from that engine and your brat will FLLLLLY!!! -Brian
  3. Check to see if the top bolts for the struts are the same as generic EA81 Subaru's. Also check to see if the lower ball joint is the same as well. If so, you could most likely take the EA81 Suspension from any EA81 with the steering knuckle, brakes and all... and bolt them up. Not sure if its been done before, but let us know if your successful. The EA81 will fit, 5spd, not too sure. -Brian
  4. Sorry Corky. I wasnt trying to correct you. I was just stating to Cole that chances are they were still called Sambar's... and not 360's (even tho they had the 360cc). -Brian
  5. This might sound stupid, but did you check to see if the headlights are burnt out? Do the high beams come on? The oil pressure gauge is not much to worry about, i wouldn't be suprised if it didnt work from the factory. Does the tach stick at 4000rpm? Alot of sube's do that at old age. -Brian
  6. Yeah, if that tranny is a 4WD 5spd, it didnt come from a 1983. They still only had 4speeds up until 1985 when they came out with EA82's and 4WD 5speed -Brian
  7. Just remember to disable it when you need to check the oil. -Brian
  8. DAMN!!! Well, now you can get another EA82 hood and put a scoop in it. Put rubber bump stops on the roof rack tho, so it doesnt trash your hood -Brian
  9. Those vans were called Sambar's tho. Not 360's. -Brian
  10. Yeah, the 360 is named after its 360cc 2stroke 2cyl engine. Its about 3/4 the size of a VW Bug. Was imported to the US from 1967 to 1969. -Brian
  11. I dont know. I'm pretty good with photoshop, and i cant find anything that indicates thats a fabbed photo. What makes you guys think its shopped?? -Brian
  12. Yes, if you have parts... you'll make it a long way in a short time on the USMB. I am in need of rear jump seats. and some interior pieces. there are a few members in CT (moosens and clantieri ring a bell) and im sure you can find someone to do some painting and body work fairly fast. Welcome to the club. -Brian
  13. I definatly had a great time guys! We'll be doing this again sometime soon. For now, im going to unsticky this thread. -Brian
  14. Southern Oregon looks like a GREAT place to hold a subaru meet. While we were wheeling, we came out to an open field that would be perfect for about 12 to 25 subaru's: This field is probably twice the size shown. There are 4 trails that I noticed heading in, and leaving this area. Only problem is giving people directions -Brian
  15. Im not going to be able to do another run like this for a few months. No more vacation time left -Brian
  16. That looks like a fun trail. Where's it located? -Brian
  17. Yeah some new tires would help alot. Maybe a welded front end as well. After hearing the stories from your friends about the mud-runs and hill climbs... i DEFINATLY want to join in on the fun. Next time, i'll have a diff that is properly welded. -Brian
  18. HOLY FAHOLY!! What a trip! Just got home from a long night and morning driving home. Had a blast in Oregon with Adam and Tony. We will definatly be doing this again soon. I gave Tony crap all weekend about his Turbo Sube, but he went everywhere we did (and ALOT faster might i add). I have some very good footage of him in action in only RWD after his front CV broke. I'll have it edited sometime soon. Adam couldn't have picked a better spot to wheel either. It would have been nice if it rained, but oh well Here's the pictures I took from the trip. I have to upgrade my computer alittle to get the video on here. http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo15 -Brian
  19. I should. Cant anytime soon tho. Going to Oregon for the weekend, using my vacation for that. -Brian
  20. Is that the address you gave me Adam?? the house? If all goes well and i stay on the road, only stopping for gas... i should be in RR by 4pm. TOny. I messaged you via my cell phone to see if you have 2 way text messaging. If for any reason anyone needs to get ahold of me, ive forwarded my email to my cell phone. the address is BRIAN(at)SUBARU4WD.NET See you all in 21 hours. -Brian
  21. I can help you with the pix. PM me. -Brian
  22. I was thinking it'd be cool to get that and put a EA81 in it geared for towing. Re-enforce the frame. Kinda make a tug-boat out of it for towing subaru's and parts. -Brian
  23. Un Sticky... Im planning on being around this area by 4:30pm Friday. http://www.usmb.net/trip/trip.htm Of course, the distance is from Sac to Rogue River. If I leave here by 10am, i should make the area by 4pm at the very latest. -Brian
  24. I remember him telling me he redrilled his hubs to accept Mercury rims. -Brian
