  1. The bottom spring seat is most likely lower on the standard Impreza shocks by about an 1 or so. Measure your old one and the new from the bottom of the strut to the spring seat. I bet you will see the difference. If the tires are not rubbing at all, you should be able to run them. You may be able to get the parts store to change them since they sold you the wrong one.
  2. Leave it on high and see if it goes away, if so it's the resistor pack located in the AC ducting under the passenger side behind the glove box. If not, it could be the fan itself. I have a spare fan if you need it.
  3. I had a slow leak on my 98 Impreza OBS. I replaced all the orings, but the only ones that looked bad were the two on the compressor. It fixed the problem. The compressor orings had taken a set and were flat on one side. PS take the orings with you to match them. Even the Subaru Dealer could not pull up the correct part number and wanted to order the parts shown as none were in stock.
  4. Just go to the local yard an pull that part off an engine. It's held on with 3 12mm bolts.
  5. Or hit your local yard and pick up a used one for about half that. They either work or they don't.
  6. 17mm If you have a spare 14mm like the rest of the nuts on the engine to trans swap it out.
  7. Pull the bottom trim that covers the latch catch. Mark the current position. Loosen the two bolts. Get a block of wood and a hammer and drive the latch back about an 1/8 to 3/16". Put it all back together. It works great, I've fixed the rattles on two 98 Impreza's that way.
  8. The CV's should slide in an out to compensate for axle travel. Lots of play in the CV indicates wear. I've only seen one come apart over the years and the outter shell was still intact.
  9. Are you looking on your Legacy or Impreza I've found them behind the lower kick panel on the Drivers or passenger side, or up and to the left of the steering column.
  10. Turn on the AC! If they don't come on, check the relays in the engine compartment fuse/relay box. If you jump the power contact with the relay pulled you should power up the fan, one relay for each fan.
  11. Lots of WD40 or other good penatrating oil. Let it soak for a few weeks ahead of time. 17 and 19 mm 6 point 1/2 dirve sockets. Socket for the axle nut Large breaker bars. Rust will fight you all the way. The bottom strut attach bolt that goes to the arm may be rusted tight at any place along the length of the bolt. Use a punch to drive out the axle nut locking punch mark With the car on the ground and brakes set, break the nut loose. Remove the tire Loosen the bottom bolt that holds the knuckle to the arms. Remove the brake caplier and disk Remove the 2 bolts holding the knuckle to the strut Drive the axle out of the hub Replace any bad parts and re-install
  12. Yes they are all mostly the same and fit. There are some differences, but I never had one that did not work.
  13. White 90's Turbo sedan gray leather interior in SLC Pull-A-Part (not sure of the name) on Redwood Ave just south of I-80. Body is good, high mileage 220K. Engine is there as is the auto trans. It had brand new front capliers and they are Mine! I don't know why it's in the yard, bad trans most likely.
  14. Plug and play for the cruise control. The computer is behind the drivers side kick panel. I have a keyless door lock unit from Subaru if you want it. $45 shipped. Larry
  15. The paperwork is a mess. The POA the dealer used is only for a title with a lien or lost title. I have the original. The CO DMV won't take the Power of Attorney (POA). The Dealer has changed hands and isn't willing to do much. I may have to go to the Dealers Board in SC to get this straight. If I could get Joshua to get a duplicate title and sign it over to me I could bypass dealing with all the Dealers. HELP The address is: 29 Meredith Drive Nashua, NH 03063 If he has any family there and they have contact Info, please have them contact me. Thanks for the Assistance: Larry Dew Lmdew@hotmail.com 719-268-9750
  16. Not yet, this has moved to the back burner for a few weeks. I did find the same car in a yard today and pulled the evap switch, the control panel and all the relays. When I get back to it, I'll give them a shot one at a time. Thanks for the help. Larry
  17. That's what I was thinking. I pulled the switch, destroyed it getting it out and put in a good one I had. Same results. I have power at the AC Switch both into the switch and out when the main control plug is unplugged. When I plug the main connector back in, the output voltage dropps to 0. I have to get the correct wiring diagram for this car. I have the same diagram you have from the wire codes you've given me and none of the wire colors match the car. Strange! Thanks for taking the time to help on this. Larry
  18. Both Fuses in the AC Relay holder are good. What I think is the AC Relay holder is in the engine compartment, Drivers side in the fuse/relay box. There is a mount for the AC Relay, Fan and Sub Fan. At the front, there are 2 15 amp fuses. Am I in the wrong place?
  19. I purchased Joshua's 98 Impreza wagon (Red). It went through 3 dealers before I got it, and the paperwork is a mess. I need to get a good title. If you know this fellow, please have him contact me. I'll pay him for his time and trouble. Thanks Larry Lmdew@hotmail.com
  20. The wiring looks original. I guess I'll have to check the years before and after and see if the wire codes changed. There is power at the switch, but not full power coming out of the switch when everything is hooked AC control panel is hook up. Something is diverting power, wiring fun!
  21. I have a 98 Impreza Wagon that the AC will not run on. The following has been checked: - AC Switch light comes on when pressed - Fuses are good, relays are good - Jumping the pressure switch does not turn on the Compressor - The radiator fans do not come on with the AC selected - If the relay contacts for the compressor are jumped the compressor kicks in - There is no power at the coil for the AC relay The relay wires are as follows: Coil: Green-Red stripe and Brown Contacts: Green-Orange stripe and Blue I have several wiring diagrams, but none of them match up. It looks like the coil gets power directly from the switch, so pulling it and checking power there will be my next step. It would be Great to have the correct diagram. Thanks Larry Lmdew@hotmail.com
  22. I've put WRX and STI Struts on my 98 OBS and my Daughters 93 Impreza Sedan. Yes you do have camber out of limits unless you get camber bolts or use Subaru Front camber bolts and mod the strut and knuckle. I left mine with the camber out of limits a degree or so and have not had a problem with either car.
