  1. My 2000 Impreza has the same issue here in CO when the temps reach 95+ F. Temp starts to climb if the AC is on and I'm going up hill in the mountains - heavy load. If I turn off the AC till the load is reduced, the temp will come back down. I have a aluminum aftermarket radiator in it. About 210K miles on the Impreza, Auto trans. The radiator does have the trans cooler built in. I had to adapt older Subaru fans to the radiator as the stock 2000 did not fit. Works well 99% of the year, so I have not pulled the thermostat or water pump.
  2. Yes, I suspected the engine was changed at some point. I was surprised to see the DOHC, but she had already purchased the Forester. It got her from OR to CO and has been a pretty good Subaru for her with some TLC. Larry
  3. Did an oil change yesterday and the engine up front is dry as can be. Sweet. Little oil from the passenger valve cover and I think the rear breather plate. All good to go and using much less oil.
  4. Outback - here you go. Good ones go Fast. https://cosprings.craigslist.org/cto/d/colorado-springs-1999-subaru-outback/7333368477.html
  5. I've had to replace several hubs and axles as the old one would not come out. PB Blaster, Heat, BFH. No luck, even after having the hub off the car I could not beat it out. So when I go to the junk yards in CO, the one thing I always check is to see if the axle move freely inside the hub spline. The long hub bolt can also rust inside the bushings making it almost impossible to get out.
  6. They come up once in a while. Good Ones go Fast. 99 Outback with 2.2 swap is a great combination. For Family and Friends I have at least 6 Subaru cars back there. Here you go: https://cosprings.craigslist.org/cto/d/colorado-springs-2004-subaru-forrester/7332406338.html
  7. If you want me to send you pics of what I have let me know. Lmdew2@gmail.com
  8. I think you can see the shift selector from the passenger side engine compartment. Disconnect it and move it by hand. Make sure you have the car blocked. Jack it if needed and put on the rain suit.
  9. I've used Gray RTV, a light bead at the 90 Degree before the o-ring is put on. When you install the cap the RTV will be pushed out between the engine and the cap.
  10. I'm walking around Kauai and see the county has several Crosstrek Hybrid plugged in at the city hall. Anyone have one? GD are they worth a lick?

  13. Your meter will lie to you, unless you are checking the circuit under LOAD! Check out LOADpro. A great addition to your toolbox. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYiY1c_b06w
  14. I like the single disk units even more. The multi disk changers are more to go wrong. I have several and the under seat base speaker.
  15. Got that as well. There is a metal bushing it goes through, washer end goes up against the engine bracket.
  16. Make sure you burp the system when you fill it! Subaru engines like to lock in air bubbles.
