  1. With the slave bleed open, push the slave piston back in. Close the bleed and pump it back up. Fluid should be going down in the master. Move the master very slow and not to the end of the stroke on the push.
  2. amazon.com also has good one. The Link GD provided is a great Deal!
  3. Best Subaru out there, a newer Outback with a great 2.2 Enjoy
  4. I have several good used Subaru pumps. $20 + shipping form CO. Should fit in the USPS large Flat rate that is $20. Larry
  5. A member in HI had something similar. His Temp sensor on the coolant crossover was not plugged in. Recheck all connectors.
  6. Most likely left in the pan when cleaned out or engine Maintenance done. I've never seen anything like it.
  7. The clutch friction material was completely off the steel disk attached to the hub. It looked like a bird nest in the bottom of the trans.
  8. No I sold her a 99 OBS that use to be the Daughters so it will be good for years to come. Another Happy Subaru Owner.
  9. Yep, sold for $500 to a local Mechanic. I ask him to let me know what he finds. If he does I'll update the post. Thanks
  10. Replace or straighten the pan. The fluid pickup is very close to the pan and restricted fluid flow will cause problems.
  11. GD, CTV drain and fill OK or do you need to do more? I see 3.8 quarts for a drain and fill is that correct? Thanks, Larry
  12. My Kid went out and bought a new 2018 Forester for all of the safety features. I guess those adds work. What should I do to make it last 15+ years. Amsoil oil and trans fluid when it needs changing, what else? Thanks, Larry
  13. Yep, just can do it out on the road and my drive is 30 Degrees up. Not getting it into the garage. Craigslist I believe. No time and No work space, since I switch jobs. So it goes. Nice Rust Free Outback for someone.
  14. Well, I've sold this Outback 2 times now. First to a Co-Worker and then to a Friend. Two weeks ago, it was stolen out of her driveway. Who steals a 98 Outback with 240K on it. Yes it's a Subaru. Anyway, the police recovered it. The oil was way over filled and missing the cap. Battery dead. I charged the battery and changed the oil and filter. Put some gas in it and the 2.2 started right up.I did the 2.5 to 2.2 conversion about 5 years ago. I love those 2.2's. The transmission seems to shift into all but 1st just fine. The clutch pedal feels good and the input fork is moving. There is absolutely no transfer of power from the flywheel to the transmission. No loading of the engine when you let the clutch out with the transmission in gear. The only other time I've seen this was on a 2000 Forester and when I dropped the trans the center hub of the clutch was completely disconnected from the clutch disk. It looked like they downshifted from high speed or were rolling backward and popped the clutch. More then one Mechanic has told me they have changed Subaru clutches with the trans pulled back to the end of the long bottom studs! Is that really possible? With my change of jobs, I have limited time and limited space and the owner has limited money. Just thinking I may be able to get them back on the road in an afternoon. I don't like the idea, but I'd be willing to try. Thanks, Larry
  15. Should be the larger of the two. I've changed a few of them 2.5 to 2.2 swaps. I've only run into a large and smaller one. You could hit a local yard and look for one with an engine removed to measure to confirm.
  16. Since you were having AWD problems, I'd just grab a used transmission and pop it in. Take Care of Mom first!
  17. Check the coolant level in the radiator when cold. I"d pull the front timing side cover and check the condition of the Timing belt. If questionable I'd pull the timing covers so you can check the gears and water pump. How the Heat in the car? Do you feel the air temp changing?
  18. Car Details? Year and Model? Most of the ECU have a ground wire in the connector but it's always a good idea to have the case ground as well, by bolting it up.
  19. 3 steps as it goes in. When you mount the trans, if the TC is all the way back, the flex plate bolts will pull the TC about a 1/8" forward.
