  1. Look in the Meet and Greet for a Subaru Shop in your area. Use a Subaru Shop that has a good rep!
  2. You are on the right track. I can usually get stuck ones off by putting 2 large straight slot screw drivers behind and using them to apply a little force to move the gear out. - DO NOT PUT THE SCREW DRIVER BEHIND THE TRIGGER TEETH - Go Easy the Crank Seal is right behind the gear. If it moves out and stops, hit it with pb blaster and then use a rubber hammer and move it back in. Repeat!
  3. Use the Subaru Trans Fluid! Pretty low mileage for a flush. I would not do a power flush. Drain and Fill, if you want flush it out pull the cooler hose off the radiator and allow some of the old fluid to pump out or drain and fill 3 times. I flush older Subarus 95-99 with the coolant hose, Drain > Fill > PULL THE HOSE Start the car and let about 3/4 gal pump out. Turn off, fill do it again. It usually takes me about 3 gallons to do the complete job.
  4. I've flushed and bleed several, all got better. My son's improved with a new hose.
  5. Yep, check the voltage drop at the Starter. Load Pro leads will help you out! http://brighterideas.com/portfolio/starter-voltage-drop/
  6. Great Training http://brighterideas.com/dan-sullivan-training-videos/
  7. Been on the USMB for a long time. Love working on rust free CO Subarus. I hit the Junk yards often. My full time job is a Maintenance Instructor for SkyWest Airlines, so I travel a lot. If you need help, let me know. Larry
  8. SkyWest Airlines, whom I teach maintenance classes for is building a Hangar there. If I get up there to teach, we could get together for a cold one.
  9. If you ever get up to the USA, Colorado Springs, CO let me know. I have a spare you can drive and plenty of extra room.
  10. 25% off online parts orders are nice! Sorry Ryan left parts, he was Great. Posting older Subaru's or ones that need some work here before they go to auction would be Supper! Thanks, Larry
  11. How many miles on the car? What codes were causing the CEL? A dent in the exhaust wold not cause the piston problem.
  12. Has to be easy to use otherwise the Owner won't. If the SOB is planning the theft they may be watching, so if the Owner goes into the trunk each time the enter or leave the car, that would give it away. Drive an old car and leave it open, if they take it, just go get another with all the insurance money you have saved
  13. cylinder head > "Y pipe" is the exhaust pipe that bolts to the head on each side and joins at the front of the CAT
  14. Subaru Parts? The metal crush gasket should seal fine. If not I'd pull the plug and check the hole for defects, dented, cracked... Pretty thick metal so you could sand flat if needed.
  15. I've seen heated cloth seats in Legacy & Outbacks 95 and newer. Yes they are nice. Easy to tell, just look to see if the switches are there and then confirm the extra connectors are under the seat.
  16. Have a 2002 LEGACY OUTBACK, the hood and roof were significantly crazed and some rust showing through. A co-worker paints on the side. I dropped the headliner So I could pull the roof rack. 80 nuts and bolts later it was off. I could see runt under the primer inside the car. The fellow who did the paint for me said there was rust under the primer on the outside as well. So it looks like Subaru had a paint process problem that allowed some surface rust to form be for the car was painted. Looks nice $400 just in materials!
  17. Torque in the aftermarket manuals of that lower value was an error. I use 125 FT LBS never have had a problem.
  18. Could just be air in the System, make sure you open the radiator cap and check the level there, when it's cold of course.
