  1. Piston slap is common but not life threatening. I still do not understand why people are replacing 2.5's with 2.2's. I understand putting 2.2's in place of EA motors but not the other. The 2.5's are good motors. Updated HG's and proper maintenance will make for a good motor. We have 3 in our family. 1 DOHC and 2 SOHC and we are very happy with them all.
  2. All one group. BTW, there is supposed to be a GPS map circulating in Astoria of local trails and roads. I am trying to get my hands on it. Could be fun for the offroaders!
  3. Oh yeah, we have several turbo grinds for the EA82. Those should work for the ER27 as well. Get your heads flow tested and give me the peak numbers. We may be able to match your numbers with the cams.
  4. We have several grinds that will work. What are you doing with the motor? Are you actually going to turbo it? Speak to a port and polish guy before you start hogging out material. It doesn't take much to get a good flow and velocity. Too much and it will make things much worse. Call us and we can see what we have for you.1-800-562-5500 I don't know of any lighter pushrods. They may exsist I just do not know yet. What are you looking for in springs and retainers?
  5. I would say the same as every year. What are you looking for specifically?
  6. I am now on board to help out on the Subaru end of things. We are working on N/A and turbo head and cam packages. Either stock or performance builds. Look for the official announement and launch of Custom Import Heads. Give us a call! 1-800-562-5500 for your head and camshaft needs!
  7. Red Impreza with black front bumper.
  8. Glad to hear that it made it home OK. Now, get off the internet and get to work!! Have fun with it Connie!
  9. Lets see... admitted drug use and bartering or prescriptions... swear filter bypassing (from the day 1 charter member:rolleyes: )... lack of punctuation...reported post... I can't think of any reason to not lock this up. Clean it up or it's gone!
  10. Never bought a Forester turbo tranny have ya'?
  11. I must agree! The only thing better is a good pair of gloves and leathers!
  12. When they do not search we preach the search function. When they search and find a relevant topic we give them hell for bringing back an old thread. We need to be consistant.
  13. Take care Connie, great to finally meet you. Ho0pe to see you guys back in August. Safe Journeys!
  14. Had dinner with him and the family Saturday night. All you can eat Chinese buffet. MMMMM, Ed finds all the neat little restaurants. Happy Birthday Rich!
  15. I call BS. I can get it and I will charge what I pay.
  16. This has two options. One is obvious, rebuild the original motor with the original intake and either rebuild the carb or get a OEM replacement. Option two. Remove the original motor and place it in the corner of the garage, under cover. Place a crate motor in it with a basic Edelbrock intake and carb of your choice. I prefer Holley but others do not. Considerring he has already stated that high performance isn't his thing. Keep it simple and it will be very enjoyable for him.
  17. The rust looks to be migrating inward. The running gear, 5 lug stuff and other doodads are well worth the $500. It may not be too bad underneath either.
  18. I run them. They have similar ones for the auto trans also. They work OK Tim. Don't sweat it, they are fine.
  19. They sold the Justy didn't they. J/K This debate is so old. The bottom line is the aftermarket parts usually do not work as well as the oem replacement. Thermostats especially. I have found over the years that PCV valves are another part that does not usually work as well from an aftermarket source. Use what ever part you are comfortable with but do not complain too loudly if it goes bad prematurely. Or doesn't work right to begin with. I will continue to buy the OEM replacement for most of my parts. Internet pricing is usually cheaper than at the parts counter. Try to order your parts from a good online source like Jason @ Scarff Subaru in Auburn or Jamie @ Subarugenuineparts. You can say "Ken sent you" to both of them when talking to them on the phone. And be sure to ask for "internet pricing".
  20. Talk to Steve at Pacific Import Auto. They are the shop of choice for most in the South sound. Steve has been working on Subaru's for over 30yrs. He knows the product as well or better than anyone I know. Anyone I send to Steve is taken care of with respect and always returns for their next service need. They are not just a performance shop. They can handle all of the needs of the average owner for recommended periodic service as well. Pacific Import Auto 13311 Pacific Ave. Tacoma, WA 98444 ph. 253.536.0389
  21. Looks even better for the $1000 that they are asking now!
  22. Past issue was indeed resolved. This post will now be closed. Please refer to the new post for new business.
