  1. You won't be sorry for the drive. Steve and the boys are good guys.
  2. Then they can go to the link you provided and find it themselves. I do not like the idea of publishing peoples private info. I would edit it it if your info was posted Morgan just as I have Mudrat's. If someone wishes to find that info then that is their option. To publish it here or else where(IMO, as some have pointed out doesn't matter much) is not any better than not completing the deals or not communicating about them.
  3. Start with an XT6, add a Chev S-10 Blazer and shake vigorously.
  4. Could be a tune up issue but seems more like vacuum leaks to me. If you can't get boost I would check all the vacuum lines on the motor. Those motors don't have timing belts to be concerned with so it's vacuum or distributor or injectors.
  5. Oh, it is very real. Sold twice on EBay. Been around for quite a while.
  6. This is and isn't exactly what you asked for but I think it will fill the bill.
  7. Dang, I guess I should read old posts more often. Sorry I missed it but family obligations would have gotten in the way even if I had known about it. Looks good Corky!
  8. Nice job!! You did well Dave! Ken
  9. Morgan, swap it out and be done with it. Alot less time involved and the end result will probably be better.
  10. The VIN number will tell the whole story. Non-US spec cars are different than US spec but I will try to field this one. EA81T car that originally came with an auto. The 5 sp would have been attached to an '84 and newer car down there('85 and newer in the states). The turbo axles have a larger diameter shaft but the cups should be the same for all. As long as they have 23 splines any will work. Post the VIN and we may be able to decifer it to tell the original story.
  11. Check the connection at the battery and fusible link box next to the battery. Also, check the fusible links themselves. If all the checks out then look at the connection of the ignition switch. It is a pink connector under the steering column.
  12. Greg, call me, again...
  13. But, you are driving alot more aggresive now.
  14. How many of these threads do we have to lock before you all get the idea? It's a marketing issue. A company isn't going to market to a 20 year old econo box that has about 50% of it production still on the road. Not when they can put that same effort into a product that will be presentable to a wider array of prospective buyers. Impressive, that explains alot! Not really. See above. The bottom line is that if you don't like the way you are treated there don't go there. It won't change just for you or any other owner for that matter. Either you find a place to fit or you don't. I have a wide variety of cars that fit many places. I don't go to NASIOC for help with a Brat just like I don't ask many questions here about an Impreza. Actually, I don't ask many questions at any of the forums. If I can't figure it out then I usually call an expert. This post is now locked and closed forever. If you have a problem with a particular forum please take it up with that organizations admins and leave the other forums out of it.
  15. It can be competitive. I have won open class before in my Brat. I have also set 2nd fastest session times as well. This is with the EA81( no where near stock though).
  16. It has everything to do with an opinion. Just like the one you have just shown. Next time try to rephrase it in a way that isn't attacking. His point being that the EGR system on a Subaru is/isn't neccessary to have the engine run just fine. There are three variations of the EA82. Of those three one doesn't use a valve and the other two have them depending on original sale location.
  17. Does an ER27 count? I put one on my XT6. Results are inconclusive. But better grounding on a vehicle known for bad grounds can't be all bad.
  18. Kendall Limited Slip oil. The EA81 rear axle for your wagon won't fit your RX.
  19. Good job. Looks like a decent deal.
  20. Now, that makes complete sense. Don't worry Emily, everyone forgets which end their vocal cords are sometimes. (Listen for the phone tomorrow. I have a question for you or Rick or ...) Ken
  21. The EGR does not control, make or cause carbon! The carbon problem is the result of oil burning. Bad rings and valve seals and the lack of oil changes cause your carbon problem. A poorly tuned engine will also contribute to this same problem. I run my engines without EGR's any time I can. Both of my EA series engines are built with larger cams, bigger carbs and altered exhausts. They are used for daily, race, and fun-time. That will dismiss the thought of race applications only not causing issues. I drive my vehicles fast, slow and everywhere in between. Off-road, off-camber and over the top have caused zero issues. I have 10K on my little Brat, about 5K on my big Brat. I have about 5k on my XT6 as well. BTW, let's add some more controversy to this. None of them have catalytic converters either. Just because a guy in a shop claims to be a mechanic does not make him one. I claim to have mechanical experience. I don't claim to be a mechanic. I have worked for dealerships and in retail and private shops including my own. Check around, I seem to build some pretty good rigs.
  22. I have never owned an EA series car that I didn't do a rear disc swap to. Subaru drum brakes suck! The braking is improved. You do not have to adjust the rear brakes any more(I hate manually adjusted brakes). I am the second person to do this particular mod on the USMB. Jerry(BratsRus) was the first. He did alot of research on the matter. I did as well. I am not that trusting(sorry Jerry). M/cyl and proportioning valves do not need to be changed.
  23. Verify that the belts are in the correct position by setting the flywheel/flex plate to the center of three marks. The cams should be up and down in this position. After you have made sure the belts are in the right spot you can go on to the distributor. Remove the #1 plug, place your finger over the hole and rotate the engine untill pressure is felt(compression stroke). Check the timing marks until "0" is seen. Now, check the rotor location, is it pointing to the number 1 wire? If not adjust accordingly. This should start your car. Then let it run for a minute or more to pump up the lifters(HLA's). Good luck!
  24. Hey Jibs, he's a distributor not the maker. Has anyone got theirs yet?
  25. What part of Sumner/Bonney Lake are you in? The direct applications would be 80-84 wagon, sedan and coupes. 81-89 hatchbacks and 82-87 Brats. Many people have swapped in other engines but you are talking major modifications. Just depends on what you want to end up with.
