  1. They won't rub unless you are taking your brat off jumps and such like that.. should fit under the hood too, but don't quote me on that
  2. I would use them.. hell if I had the scratch, I would have bought them from you for my new engine... yesm they can be repaired, but they will just crack again.. as long as they are just the hairline cracks between the valves, they are OK
  3. I don't know what the offset of the pugs wheels roght off the top of my head. very near stock offset by the looks of it. They don't stick out any further than the stock 13's . On your other question, I'm not sure about using a 4x100 hub to line everything up.. for doing it at home, that would probably be the way to go.. rear disc hubs are a pain to come by down here, but If can find a pair, perhaps I will experiment with them
  4. Ok.. I found the posts about it in the BYB board.. but there isn't a whole lot of specific info given. as far as I know, no one here has done it.. would be an interesting alternative to the XT6 swap though.. possibly expensive because I am sure it isn't something to be done at home. With the 6 lug swap, you have a couple of original studs to anchor everything. That helps to make sure everithing is balanced.. on this swap, you would have to make sure tho holes are placed perfectly, or it would wobble like hell.. would still work though
  5. Try calling him.. thats the best way to get ahold of him.. look in old posts.. he ususally has his phone number listed
  6. Perhaps this was a backhanded way of suggesting you use the search function of the forum, that way you would be armed with as much info as possible before you started asking questions. The EA81T is not so much better to turbo.. it is turbo'd.. (thus the T in its designation) Whoever is giving you info about soobs has absolutely no idea what they are talking about and should stick with hondas(or what ever) As stated above, the EA81T is a turbo motor already(Thus the T in the designation).. There will be no need to carb it.. it is an EA81 with Multi point fuel injection and a turbo.. just get the ECU and wiring harness and bolt it in.
  7. You don't say which car it is.. that may make a difference.. BTW I have an autozone cable in my car.. seems to work fine
  8. I'm diggin on this idea too.. I like the idea of a little tighter ratio..
  9. I just searched the BYB board, and I can't find any info on a 4x100 swap.. could you provide more specific info? maybe a source or some pics?
  10. Dealer or autozone.. or just aboput anywhere.. depending on where you are, they might have to order it.. and yes, it does sound like your clutch cable snapped
  11. Rick pretty much summed it all up. I only disagree with one thing: This isn't the NW rick.. we don't have Turbo soobs falling out of our asses down here.. trust me.. I have looked(eww) There a few SPFI and carb cars.. and very few EA81 and earlier cars.. Soobs just aren't plentiful here.. Thats bad, because it makes it hard to find parts. But its good because you don't have competition from 3/4 of the board when you do find something
  12. The parts stores in my neighborhood don't even carry Dexron II.. Only Dexron III.. I use it in my camry and as power steering fluid for my soob and my camry, even though the manual for both cars call for Dexron II.. Dexron III is what there is now.
  13. This is coming from general experience, and a little soob specific experience. As you slide the converter onto the shaft it ususally 'clicks' twice as it settles into place. When The converter isn't on all the way, it will have a tendancy to wobble from side to side When the transmission is in place, if the converter isn't on properly, or all the way, it will bind up against the flex plate. So if everything is in place and it still spins freely, its safe to guess that is in place properly Let me know if you would like some help reinstalling .. Do you have my number?
  14. EA82 doesn't have dual OHC. And yes, the motors can be swapped.. but it isn't a direct bolt in. Where in texas are you?
  15. Dig through the old posts.. this get brought up once or twice a year. After 5 years, it still isn't being done..probably because there is a stock turbo set up that substantially more efficient
  16. I have no hill holder in my soob. I am using the Master cylinder of an auto car, so no HH lines. I just use a spring to hold the clutch fork back.. Its flat for 200 miles in any direction here.. who needs a hill holder
  17. A good place to start would be by telling us what size your wheels are.. 13? 14?
  18. Yup.. dey sho do got dem rain gutters. If you look real close at the pick in my sig, you might see my gutter mount Thule rack.. if you want, I will get a better pic of what they are and how they mount.. I will also dig up the part number for the gutter mount feet should you want it.. they can be gotten at GI Joe's, or on eBay, or any number of places.
  19. Manual boost controller is the easiest way to up boost.. unfortunately, the fuel cut off hits around 9psi and can only be bypassed electronically by building a circuit to fool the ECU
  20. $1000 seems steep to me for just a single headgasket. If they are doing a complete reseal job(cam seals, crank seal, both headgaskets, waterpump.. the ususal) then thats a different story. But not knowing anything else about your car, I don't know if that is necessary. Head gaskets can be done without pulling the engine, although the I believe the FSM calls for the engine to be removed. You definitely have more room to work that way. It can be done at home.. Most people here do their own One very important thing would be to find out why the headgasket went kaput.. did you overheat the car?
