  1. See if you can get some more details on the actual parts/bolt that failed.
  2. Not sure what color it is. You can probably find that info in the FSM's on my server. http://main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans/2000+_Legacy_FSM/
  3. The fuel pump relay should be in the passenger compartment up under the dash.
  4. I'd recommend the mats from Subaru as they fit the car much better. I believe the mats have a little hook to keep them in place, at least in the front. As for carpet or rubber....that's really up to you, and what you're going to do with the vehicle. I picked up a set of carpet mats on ebay a couple years ago, and then got a cheap set of clear rubber mats, cut them to match the factory mats and just placed them on top of the carpet to help keep the carpet clean. The Subaru rubber ones are nice though. They have big channels for water and gunk to collect. Cleaning is easy.
  5. The AT / MT thing doesn't really make that big a deal as long as the ECU matches MAF sensor, IAC sensor, and injectors. The other differences aren't that big a deal. The above is only applicable on the 90-91 non turbo models. 92-94 they all had JECS based electronics.
  6. Here you go http://www.main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans/FSM_Scans/1998_Legacy_ECU_I-O.pdf
  7. I think there are a few people from Florida on the board that may be able to chime in. If not, you may want to ask in the regional forum on NASIOC http://forums.nasioc.com/forums
  8. All USDM 90 legacies had an EJ22.
  9. Are you experiencing any other issues? Like you suggested, I'd start with the transmission fluid. You may have a solenoid that is sticking. New fluid should help.
  10. The gearing is different between the 90-91 AT's & the 92-94 AT's. That probably accounts for some of what you're seeing. This spreadsheet shows the gearing difference. http://main.experiencetherave.com/subaru/techinfo/Legacy_Speed_Calculator.xls
  11. There is a difference between injector types between the 90-91 AT & MT non turbo models. I don't know if there is a size difference, but the type matches the ECU type, Hitachi or JECS. The 92-94 non-turbo models have a completely different type (red top) and I've heard rumors they flow a little more than the 90-91 non-turbo models. The 92's are rated at 270 cc/min. The 91-94 turbos are pink and rated at 370 cc/min.
  12. Are you talking about the plastic gear inside the differential? To replace it, you need to take apart the front diff to get at everything, at least that's my understanding.
  13. The NASIOC guys get together occasionally and do the lime creek rd in the Austin hill country area. I haven't had a chance to make it up there though.
  14. Welcome to the USMB. Have you tried clearing the codes with a reader? Do they come back immediately or take a little while to come back?
  15. I'd suggest clearing the codes and then see what codes come back. http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/engine.html
  16. Put together a little spreadsheet that will calculate the theoretical top speed. http://main.experiencetherave.com/subaru/techinfo/legacy_speed_calculator.xls From my own experience in my Legacy, I think these may be a little inflated. While I was AT & FWD, each gear would give about a 40 mph increase in speed. But you can use this to estimate a top speed. You can change the engine RPM and rev / mile numbers and that will update the spreadsheet.
  17. As long as you have the power, gearing will be your top speed limiter. I've hit 130 when my car was FWD AT. The gearing is higher in the FWD models vs. the AWD cars.
  18. I have heard of people leaving the TCU in there. If it's working fine with the TCU in there, I'd just leave it.
  19. It's probably the starter solenoid contacts. They are a couple bucks and can be replaced. There's several threads, please try searching and if you can't find anything, let us know.
  20. Yes, can you please indicate whether you're in the US or not. The 1990 model year was the first year the Legacy was offered in the states, and it was only offerred with multi-point fuel injection. Overseas models did get single point throttle body fuel injection....and I think even a carb model some places.
  21. I'd go the ECU route. Doing the other stuff just sounds like more of a pain. Only concern I can see with the ECU, is if the ECU has a year/date on it, and they try and match that to the VIN records. This is for an auto trans car correct? Other option I suggest would be to just plug in the EGR valve from the old motor and not have it hooked up to anything. Not sure what sort of feedback loop is setup....but if there's not something checking things, you might be able to get away with that..
