  1. The viscous LSD rear diffs utilize a similar viscous coupling as what is used in the center diff. It's a sealed unit with a silicone base fluid inside. The actual differential fluid has no effect on the viscous coupling.
  2. You may want to search. There's a couple threads talking about the CVT and opinions of I believe people that have driven them.
  3. I fly into Birmingham quite often for work if that counts
  4. bump. May want to search over on Nasioc. There's probably some pictures in the drivetrain forum.
  5. I do not believe it does. My 1997 OBS does not have one either.
  6. Do you have a 2.2 or 2.5? Is it single or dual over head cam? Have you removed the pump again to try and get access to the bolt? I ended up snapping a bolt when I rebuilding my motor. I pulled the block halves apart again, and drilled the bolt and used an extractor to back the broken bolt out. It was loose in there, and threaded right out. It may be a little tedious, but that's probably what I'd suggest.
  7. I don't have any info right in front of me on the adjustment procedures. Here's a blow up of the sunroof assembly. It may help to show you where the adjustment points are http://main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans/FSM_Scans/sunroofblowup.jpg Also, I'd suggest checking out the Body & Chassis forum on the Legacycentral BBS. There's probably some info in there regarding the sunroof adjustment.
  8. I'm sure you can probably buy new decals. When my mom's old toyota pickup was repainted they replaced the decals.
  9. Tim, What year & model subaru do you have, and what model engine? There is a tool that subaru makes to hold the cam gears. This can be accomplished by making a tool to do this. Also an impact wrench will loosen the bolt up without any problems. They make electric impact wrenches, and they do work pretty good. As for installing and torquing the cam pullies, a tool to hold the pullies is going to be needed. Some people have used a strap wrench with success. The crank pulley, you have a couple options, if it's a MT, you can put the trans if 5th gear, and have someone step on the brakes while you torque the crank pulley. If the car is an AT you can remove the access plug on the bell housing of the engine and stick a pry bar or something in the back of the flex plate to keep the engine from rotating. Make sure to torque the crank pulley bolt to 110-120 ft-lbs. Most of the manuals list an incorrect torque value.
  10. Going to close this thread. Please continue any comments in the thread previously started by bucky92. Thanks
  11. Welcome to the board. Probably the first thing I'd do is put my hand up near the blower intake and see if the flapper door is actually moving. You can remove the glove box and that should help a little. As from there, if it's not working, you may need to troubleshoot whether it's an electrical issue or mechanical. Here's the factory manual for the 99 Legacy which should help. http://main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans/1999_Legacy_FSM/ During the evening hours how does the AC work, is it "cold"? It may need some refrigerent added.
  12. There are some differences in wiring between the 90 & 92 legacies. Here are the wiring diagrams for the 90 Legacy http://main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans/FSM_Scans/1990_Legacy_Wiring_Diagrams.zip
  13. Just checked the FSM info I have, and it agrees with this. AT - 4.11. MT - 3.9.
  14. I'm not from Texas, but I've been living in Houston for the past 7 years. I've got my 1990 Legacy that I've got too much stuff done to it to remember, and my 1997 Impreza Outback Sport for my daily driver.
  15. Yeah, search/ask over on http://www.bbs.legacycentral.org There's a lot of info over there that will help.
  16. This is for the 90 Legacy http://main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans/FSM_Scans/TCU_I-O_page1.jpg http://main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans/FSM_Scans/TCU_I-O_page2.jpg
  17. That doesn't seem like a bad price. With the WRX's, I'd check to see that the thing wasn't beat on. Check blue book value for that car in your area http://www.kbb.com
  18. What weight oil did you use? Have you heard the noise? Can you describe it?
  19. You've got one of the dual range AWD transmissions. You need to be stopped when going from low to high range. Other than that, you should be good to go. Wiring would probably be there for the rear cigarette lighter. You'd have to pull off the paneling and see. If you unplug that plug you'll see that the plastic piece is just a "blank" and it's not doing anything.
