  1. The last HG job I did on my RX (EA82T) I used the spray on copper sealant. When I grenaded the engine, the HG's held up. It was the ring landings that didnt :-p Its all personal preference.
  2. Nope, due to the turbo not being braced. I have a TD04 turbo and when I had the flange welded on I wasnt able to get the brace re-attached. This time I will.
  3. Well, I noticed a lack of boost the other day and when I rolled my window down I could hear that popopop of a exhaust leak. When I got home and inspected the header I could see where it was leaking around the passenger head flange. I assumed it was a cracked flange. Well, it was close :-\ Does anyone have a modded up pipe laying around? Seeing how its off, I would love to up grade. If not, I'll just weld it and carry-on until I can find/afford a TWE.
  4. I think I'm in the first row, my old eyes are to fuzzy to see tho. You know whats real sad? I didnt even have a Subaru then I was driving my 92 Mazda 4WD truck. I think I can make it again, this time for the whole weekend. And in a Subaru

I guess you werent aware of the other thread? http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=96006
  6. Its a little more involved than that. You need to swap out the engine crossmember, so the crossover pipe will clear. Also need to change the fuel pump and maybe the fuel lines. Not to many (if any) folks have done a EA82T swap, because its hardly worth all the work.
  7. Zap mentioned something about getting a HP Meet together. Maybe we could incorporate it with this? Not to keen on going up there for the 4th tho.....its a zoo
  8. In a Subaru wagon from the 80's
  9. All RX's came with coil overs, none ever had air struts. The top mount for the strut is on the top/side of the wheel well.
  10. There is a button for it, but I cant remember if its on the dash panel or the trip computer.
  11. You've been driving it to work for the last 6yrs and they just noticed it? I would be a little suspicious of someone out to mess with you. Its happened to me before :-\
  12. Pretty hard to bend cast aluminum. But the oil pan is steel and its a common problem when overtightened. Make sure you check out the cam seals like I suggested. Does the oil pressure drop at idle? If not, the dented pan could be blocking the PU tube like Frank said.
  13. Glad to hear she went to a board member. Still in the family, kind of.
  14. If it hasnt been sitting for a long time (especially on grass) and not all moldy inside, then the guy probably isnt going to go for a lowball price. Talk to him and tell him you have wanted one for a long time, etc. Get more info on the mechanicals, has it ever overheated, etc? EA82 turbo's are plentiful around these parts, but I suspect more than that is wrong with it.
  15. The top right gasket is for any EA82 intake manifold(should be 2 of them). The 2 bottom gaskets look like they are for a spider intake. The other 3 I dont recognize.
  16. Most of mine here....http://www.cardomain.com/id/Turbone Top RX. No ratings on the others yet.
  17. Install a new fuel filter and fresh gas? At least make sure your getting gas to the throttle body if you have spark.
  18. Check out this web site, very informative and better relates to your TDI. http://europeancar.automotive.com/95784/epcp-0803-turbo-modifications/index.html
  19. Ok, I did a search and see Subaru3 posted about it, back in 06. I missed it, but the article just came out in 09.
  20. This sold on Ebay back in 04, not sure if it was a board member that bought it or not. But heres the story from the Drive magazine article. http://www.drive.subaru.com/Win09/Win09_BRAT.htm
  21. The screw fell out of mine less than a block from my house. Like a fool I sat there for 15min trying to start it. When I opened my hood, the turbo was glowing bright red. It took me another 1/2hr of investigating to find the problem.
  22. Yeah, you did it wrong. This is how its done... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50768
  23. Did he replace the disty cap and rotor? It sure sounds like the rotor isnt spinning with the shaft. Ask me how I know this
  24. Be careful with the pushbutton starter switches. They cannot handle long tern use. Ask Seahag1979 about it. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showpost.php?p=778832&postcount=22
  25. It would probably be a real good idea to have a fuel pump switch in the car close to you. You know, just in case.
