Yet another LB the coupe update:
The car has a defunct digidash. A infra read temp sensor/reader would work tho

'86 GL-10 Left for Dead - Help Identify Donor Transmission (pg4)
Yes, its a EA82T. If you got the last one on your list, you will also need to swap axles. A non turbo 5spd D/R will bolt up and you can still use your current axles. The AT has 23 splines, the 5spd is 25 splines (turbo). Dont use a 4spd. Get the latest model 5spd D/R range with the lowest miles if possible. Also, if you get the non turbo 5spd, you will need to change the rear diff to match ratio's. The turbo tranny is 3.7, the non turbo is 3.9. Then you lose the LSD rear diff, if you have one. The tag on the cover will tell you if it is. Also, the turbo 5spd D/R will have a diff lock. If there is that many late 80's Subaru's in that yard, I would be checking the rear diff's on all the turbo's. The LSD rear diff is getting harder to find and so are the 5spd D/R turbo trannies. Also, the wagon you show in last frames is a Legacy and the tranny wont work with your car.

That pic of the rear bumper is not a good sign. See how its melted around the exhaust tip? Bad juju there :-\ It means the engine was run hard till it got hot enough to melt plastic. My RX was like that when I bought it. When I pulled the engine it had a hole in the top of the block. Not saying you will find that on yours, but I can about guarantee the head gaskets are toast. Another thing, the temp gauges on the old digi dashes suck. Try and get a aftermarket gauge installed or use a infra red temp reader to keep a eye on the temps.

'86 GL-10 Left for Dead - Help Identify Donor Transmission (pg4)
After a re-read I see its a auto tranny. It will have two dipsticks for the tranny. The one in front is for the diff, the one behind it is for the ATF. Alot of times the seal that separates the diff from the tranny fails and fills the diff with ATF. Also, if this is a 3spd AT, its junk and should be pulled and sold for scrap. If it was flat towed, the tranny is shot, but I dont think it would effect the front diff.

Sounds like the center diff is about to go out. Check the dipstick, it on the passenger side of the tranny. Kind of next to the turbo.

Hello NOOB in WA 86 gl10T and 81 d/r wagon
Nice looking sedan. I hate to be the bearer of bad new tho. Those tires wont fit on metric rims. You need metric tires and they cost more than what you probably paid for your sedan.

help me
The coil might be toast. Do you have a extra? Just about any 80's coil will get you by till you can find the correct one.

I think you need to listen to the people at Delta. They have more experience building EA81's then you think.

88 rx turbo blown headgasket?
If its drinkinig coolant, you might have bad intake gaskets. Or it really is a bad HG. But definitely find out if the rad is cooling correctly and replace the t-stat.

88 rx turbo blown headgasket?
No need to pull it out. Let it run for a little bit then shut it down. Feel the top and bottom of the rad. If its cold on the bottom and hot on top, the rad is clogged. My RX is doing the same thing (but not overheating). Granted its only 17deg out, but even when its above freezing it takes forever to warm up. I have a pretty new dual core rad and I suspect the t-stat might be stuck open.

1987 Auto. 4x4 turbo
The solenoids for the 4wd are vacuum actuated. Check the lines to make sure they arent broke/cracked or disconnected.+ *Edit*...Is this a Full Time AT?

88 rx turbo blown headgasket?
Does it overheat while idling, or on the road? Overheat at idle is from a bad waterpump. Overheat while on the road is a bad radiator. Or, it could be a bad thermostat. This is where you need to start first, use a OEM replacement. Tiny bubbles in the rad doesnt necessarily mean its a bad HG, but being a EA82T its possible

Let's see that action shot
- Locks screwed up.
Buy a can of any type spray lube that has a straw with it. Mine did the same thing the other morning and I used a spray bottle with hot water. But once I got it thawed out, I sprayed into the lock mechanism with PB Blaster. Works like a champ right now, but a better lube should be used for long term.- The One Behind the Wheel! (Pics of Us!)
