Drain the front diff (not the tranny) and use this in it. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=920674&highlight=%22Uncle+Scotty%27s%22+cocktail It cant hurt and it could help for a while. But once the whine starts, its only a matter of time. I would start looking for another tranny now, that way you will be ready.

I dont know about the tires yet. I really havent touched or looked hard at the car yet, I needed a break. Been doing a HG job on a 87.5 XT-T. So sometime this week I'll be giving a good inspection. And looking at the SCCA rule book And yes, I will be selling the lights, side skirts and rear bumper skirt.

Those will be the first things tossed out! I have a very nice pair of Mitsu Eclipse seats that might go in, or some Lego's. Dont know yet. But I'm sure I will be getting a complete interior from a donor Imp. Lights, bumpers and go thru the mechanicals and it should be ready to RallyX. But it will have to pass State emissions first

Pressurized crankcase = bad rings on ea82T?
Turbone replied to thecarman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The EA82T is a closed system. It stays pressurized while running. The reason you are getting blowby coming up the filler tube is because the PCV system is plugged. Replace the PCV with OEM and check all the hoses. Most, if not all, will be hard as a rock from the heat. So alot of them will crack or be cracked already. They have a tendecy of filling with oil and sludge and restrict the flow of gases thru the system, hence the reason your pushing stuff out where it shouldnt. I would also check the EGR while your at it, if it has one. Should have read all the C/N's Definatly check the compression. That many miles on a EA82T I would suspect the rings and valve seals are going. -
You have more reading to do :-p http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=67990&highlight=auto+to+manual+swap

You havent seen everything yet. Wait till I post pics of whats left of the interior The 95/96 Imps are the perfect platforms for RallyX. Lighter than the rest of the line, and if you happen to get a 96 Brighton its the lightest. Mine does have A/C but roll up windows. Might be removing the A/C, for sure if its not functional. Plus theres a ton of parts that interchange and aftermarket stuff is available.

The 4spd D/R is going to be a 3.9, so if you take a LSD(which almost all are 3.7) and convert it to 3.9 you will be good to go. The setup you have right now, the AT is a 3.7 and with a 3.9 rear diff is wrong and probably why you are having problems.

I heard you smoked Charles :-p I cant remember if your in Stock Class or Prepared?

New GL10, Shooting for high 14's?
Turbone replied to crazy_squirrels's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Easily fixed with a Walbro 225 pump and a AFPR. -
Its called a open diff

But its a start. 95 L 1.8. Have to tear everything down/apart and put it back with "newer" parts. Its been completely stripped inside, it only has the front seats right now. I do have a source for parts (thanks to Qman & PIA) and I hope to have it on the RallyX course soon. Want to keep it stock this year so I can get a feel for it and it would be beneficial to race that class from what I understand right now. So, without further comments, other than more pics will be coming tomorrow....... Cost me $500 And yes, it runs.

Pretty much everything said is true, with the exception of the 4EAT having most of the LSD's. You would need to put the LSD innards into your 3.9 case for it to work. You do not want to run different ratios on the tranny and rear diff. Theres a write up in the USRM for the swap.

For what I've gathered the M/T's are 3.9, unless they are from a fulltime box. Then they are 3.7. Most, if not all, of the AT's are 3.7. This is for EA's and ER's. I'm not up on the EJ's...yet.

Teach me about ea82's and lsd's...please.
Turbone replied to pyro926's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
What you ultimatly want is a RX tranny. Fulltime 4wd with D/R and diff lock. You get to cruise around in 4wd and have the ability to use low range in town. Makes it have much more pep at lower speeds and just drop it into to high when you hit 50mph or so. -
Only like them when it turns you green And what makes you think that the NE doesnt get cold wet weather like we do? I broke out my propane heater yesterday, so we could stay a little warm while working on Briggs XT. And almost caught myself on fire Was weariing a old work jacket that has a poly liner in it and had the heater to my back. I happened to look down at the ground and saw a piece of something on fire. Gee, what could that be? I pulled the bottom of the jacket out to look and yup, I was smokin. Glad we had that inch or two of snow

We wont know until one gets replaced. If you have schematics, please scan them and post them up.
