going to pull a wire harness for an 83 wagon
I've had the pleasure(?) of replacing a half dozen or more EA81 dashes. Only 2 areas for potential problems. While removing the bolts on the top corners, its possible to crack the windshield if your not careful. The other is when after installation, the thing will squeak and rattle if you dont get everything tight again.

going to pull a wire harness for an 83 wagon
I will most likely be helping with this job. I live 3mi from him and we need to pull 2 harness's, not just one. I'll pull the first one and his kid can watch. Then he gets to do the other one. Then re-install it in the other car

Its real simple......if you pull the dash out :-p Better to teach him now, then try later when he thinks he knows it all

Any more RS out there?
If you make it down to WCSS11 this year, you will see mine. And its even more rare because they only made black RX's in the last half of 89. Hey Chux, werent there some Turbo Touring Wagons made after 90?

The questions get dumber-
Geez, I knew that. I've done enough of them. Sucks getting old Who makes them and is there a part #? It might be the neutral safety lockout. But I could be wrong about that too :-\

Brat dash trim question
In the FSM, it looks like theres a couple of screws that come up from underneath. Maybe if you take out the glovebox you can spot them.

Want something custom for your old school subie? Talk to the BOSS!
Nothing fancy, the light bar would be a big plus. I have a buddy that took the mesh used for concrete slabs and made a nice one. But I think a bar would need to be welded to the front for a light bar.

88' XT6 Air Suspension problems
Legacy or Impreza front struts work. You will need just stock EA82 (85-93) shocks for the rear. If you really want to mess with it and try to fix it, go here... http://subaruxt.com/forum/search.php?fid Then search for air suspension.

Slammed hatch
It looks like he removed the shocks/struts. Bob Barci's Hatch is a beautiful example.

83 Coupe Love ..Restore Progress ( Pics page 2)
Thats definitely a good sign. Even here in the PNW that area of the fenders is usually the first to rust out.

Removing the steering wheel
Buy a decent gear puller, they arent that much. Save alot of hassle down the road. Buying tools is a investment. That reasoning has always worked for me :-p

Removing the steering wheel
You sure the alignment isnt off instead?
-
Removing the steering wheel
No on both counts. If I need to remove one in the JY, I just beat on the end of the shaft till it breaks loose. I'm pretty sure they dont interchange either.

Removing the steering wheel
The EA82's are a pita to get off, nothing like the EA81's. You will need a gear puller. I used a cheapo on one in a wrecking yard and it just bent the tool all up. Best way to get them off in the wrecking yard is with a hammer
