Well i just finshed my fender Mods and took some photo's of the process , however, I have a film camera. When i get the pics developed I will scan them in and post them. In the front, i was able to keep the old mudflaps, by way of cutting back about 1.75" while leaving a tab to fold over and put the flap bolt through. And on the very front , I used an O-ring out of a lid for a 5 gallon bucket , slit it open the whole length with a knife and then superglued the inside of the ring and slid it over the cut part of the fender.(after sealing the cut metal with fingernail polish) Looks almost OEM In the rear there was only 3/4 of an inch to be hammered back by the door.. Rusty metal hammers easy:grin:

a little tip you can try, if done right will make the seats look better.... Find some High Gloss latex-enamel paint that will dry to the color of your seats,, then Apply with a brush in about a 6"sq. area at a time, work the paint into the tares,, then quicky wipe the excess paint off of the leather with a clean moist ragg. make sure to remove all the paint from the good leather befor it drys. After the whole seat has been done, let dry, and if needed ,repeat the process Do Not use Oil based paints! then a coat of armor-all of something like it. If done right,,, it will look much better.

Ya know, there's a guy here seling a whole set of those toyota cutouts here on USMB Hummm Moding the cut-out into the back door wouldnt be a problem,,,, but the front door would be a bit tricky -

Thanks for all your replys! well I put the 225/70-15's on today. I can now sleep under my car,,, I just cant turn the steering wheel:-p With the rear, only a little beating with the "fine tunning tool" 3lb hammer was nessasary. About an inch of clearance behind the door and everything just fits nicely. Had my Dad who is about 230lbs jump up and down on the back comes close but no rubbing. I will Rhyno-line the area where the paint popped off later:brow: The front is a different matter. there seems to be enough clearance on the front under the bumper, however when turning the tire contacts the mudflap. I am going to try cut it some and keep the stock mudflap , just move it back abit. (cause it's got that cool red outlined 4WD on it) Wish I had a digital camera! :-\ I could show you guys what I mean.wallymart has one for 19 bucks,, wounder if it would be worth the investment? Anyway thanks so much for the pictures! -

Years ago,,, someone said something on one of these sites, about putting a check valve on the return tranny coolent line. and that would make sure the TC would not get low on fluid. anyway, I can'r find any info on it now:-\ -

Ok, I have come to know that there are some REALLY creative people here at USMB. And I know that many here have lifted their subee GL's, DL's, Loyal's and many others. In-turn many have had to make ingenious fender mods I would love to see or read how you did it! "Knowledge is power":headbang: Thanks:) -
Hey numb,,, Ever have your front tires rub when you turned in cornering? I just got 28.2"= 225/70R15 tires,, I know I will regrett it, impuse buy thing. Anyway I can tell just by looking I will have to mod the rear fender, maybe the front too.

Didn't realize that a lift changed the position of my muffler, untill my bumper decided to melt:-\

providing the little engine could turn the mas of the tire and rim at that speed without flying apart

It is more that the diameter/circumference of the tire that you have to worry about. The concensus is correct - larger wheels generally equal less fuel mileage. Generally as you increase the diameter of the wheel - you will tend to increase the width of the wheel as well. The additional weight of the larger tire/wheel combination along with the increased width generally will pull down acceleration performance and fuel economy. The plus side is generally much increased grip and improved braking performance. As you increase the amount of unsprung weight (amount of weight not directly supported by the suspension) - you increase the amount of work done by the suspension. They have to work harder to keep the wheels and tires in contact with the road. There is also the performance hit in acceleration with heavier/wider wheels. Not a problem if the car has ample power (Dodge Viper, Covette Z06, etc.) But in something with a little less power - the increase in the moment of inertia from the larger, heavier wheel will pull down acceleration numbers. This also goes toward lightwieght alloys - even though they may be very similar to weight of the OEM setup - the distribution of the mass of the wheel will still generate greater moments of inertia. Granted - there are always exceptions - but pick at random, wheel/tire combinations that are +2 or larger and place them on most cars - their overall acceleration will suffer while gaining better braking and cornering. For some - that lose in acceleration is a small price to pay for better braking/cornering. How much will it affect the performance - it varies according to the width and weight of the wheels. Usually it is on the order of every increase in static weight by 100lbs, will drop 1/4 times ETs a tenth. For every 10lbs in extra unsprung weight, ETs will drop a 10th.

HAVE FUN WITH THESE LINKS;) http://4wheeldrive.about.com/od/calculators/index_r.htm

YEAH, exactly,, thats why , now I wish I had gotten the 14" rims insded of the 15",, there's just more mud and AT tire options under 28 inch dia. with a 14" rim.

Why did i do it???? I don't know. I must be insain! went to Walmart today,,,they only had three 215/75R15's in stock, but they had a whole set of 225/75R15's in the liaratorAT so out of impulse I bought'em and had them mounted on my new wagon wheels,,, At 55 bucks a tire,,They look great! However, now I am going to have to beat the fender a bit:( I should have went with a 14 inch rim, because the 225/70R14 Libarator looks very good , wide and meaty. O well ,I'm the king of hindsight;) " Now I need my lucky racing underware, they have racing stripes down the sides and a skid mark down the back...."

I used to have a ford with the twin beam front suspension,,, In the Ford, when I would pull up onto driveway it would sway Even lifted, my subaru still feels more stable,,
-
Checked three local walmarts today,, Tried to buy some Liberator A/T s today. Turns out they no longer stock them they have been replaced with a new design that doesnt look as meaty ...............Old style................................ New style I was a dy late:dead:

helpful site on caculation MPH differance betwine tire sizes. http://www.net-comber.com/tirecalc.html Might help figure MPG, provideing your engine doesn't have more drag on it due to the tire size and weight.
-
Although,,,, a tire with a rugged tread pattern can actually decrease MPG. So any Highway increase in milage you recieve may be offset but a Rugged tire pattern such as an MT type tire

How dedicated are you?
