  1. stumbled accross this website, very competative pricing. http://www.funonwheels.net/hirisesubaru/pages/pricelist.htm
  2. yeah a wash can provide plenty of excitment! especially when that front end dives down, and your heart rate increases and you think,,, "what tha heck have I gotten myself into!"
  3. Hey Zaper, could you give me the info on those tires?
  4. Now,,, if i could only get my Subaru to cut grass,,,,,,,,,
  5. Thats a good point. Playing around in a creek is a bit different than playing around in a mud hole. Clean creeks and streams are rare for most areas. It's not often for most people that they have an opertunity to enjoy the scenic value of a clean clear streem bed. Plus they can support a great variaty of life. Cross a creek if you have to, but don't play around in it. Also ,It would be good to make sure the viehicle has no fluid leaks. And with Subarus,, thats hard not to have. Also it would be good to have another vehicle there to tow or winch you out of the stream in case you stall. Wouldn’t want the car to sit there and ooze fluid out into the water.
  6. Did the trouble coencide with a change in the weather?
  7. Oh I know what i forgot to mention,,,,,, If there are white-caps on the creek ,,, then it might be a bad idea to try and cross it. If it looks like there is a chance you may colide with whitewater rafting expadition,,, it might be a bad Idea. If the water turns a perty emareld green because it's over 3 feet deep,,,, then it might be a bad idea to try and cross it..... If there are bolders in it larger than your car,,,, then it might be a bad idea to try and cross it....
  8. A few things I have noticed when crossing water. (Others may debate this) 1. If the water is clear, and has a solid bottom, where there is good traction, Don't try to rush the crossing. going to fast may force water into the intake. I've even seen it buckle the hood and smach the grill of a car when they hit the water to fast. 2. Use a low gear to keep the RPMs up so that you can keep air flowing out the tail-pipe 3, Never go deeper than your intake or electrics 4 If crossing a murky pool make sure you know the terrain below the surface , Feeler sticks are good,, but it's a gamble You just don't know whats in your path, ie. Deep ruts, logs, cender blocks, mud, gators':-p and so-forth. In such a case, if you have to cross it , a little momentom might be helpfull;) Lastly,,, If your really serious about water crossings,,, there is a huge list of things to modify on your vehicle , examples: good seals and gaskets for no leaks, clutch fan replacement with a switched electric fan. elivated differential breathers, snorkle, elivated and sealed electronics, and the list goes on. If I'have missed something, you guys let me know.
  9. If the heat shield is missing from the Y pipe ,, would there even be a place to connect the hot air duct????
  10. i was thinking maybe something like a 1 inch thick aluminium plate with recessed places for the strut mount and offset bolts or treaded studs to mount to the tower on the car. you could drill-press the whole thing out of a solid piece of aluminium
  11. shame warn doesnt make some sort of locking hub for the subee rearend. then the wheels could spinn freely
  12. looks like they range from about 160. to about 450. I bet we could make a non adjustable negative camber adjustment plate for a lot less. maybe make it about 2 degrees
  13. why do you think that is ? Maybe the manufacture doesn't feel ring seating a priority with that particular line? Or maybe a thin synthetic still alows for some break-in ware? What do you think?
  14. DITTO And,,, as far as brakes are concerned,,,,, being able to stop thousands of pounds of rolling weight is way more inportant than being able to make it roll;)
  15. this is niffty , to correct the camber issue http://www.jappartsspecialist.com/Suspension.htm http://www.visionaryracing.com/main.htm Cool camber item for off-road racing (costly) http://www.fastwrx.com/pdefrcaadkit.html
  16. hey Pat. Can you do a little test for me? could you go to the front wheels and push down really hard on the fender above the wheel, get it rocking good, and listen for that noise as it goes to the top of the bounce. I have a very simular sound in slow traffic. At higher speed the toe-in changes and there is greater pushing out force on the wheels. Truns out ,,after replacing the inner tie rods,,,it is my steering Rack. Years with decintagrated boots alowed water and sand to inter the rack really messing it up. This problem disquised itself as : 1. bad strut 2.bad outer tie rod end 3.bad cv joint 4.bad ball joints 5.bad inner tie rod kinda a sick feeling to spend all that money and still hear the sound.
  17. Humm,, maybe the problem is resolution and file size.. for example,, An image that is 6"x6" @ 72dpi (dots per inch) might only be 100k (kilobytes) while an image at 3"x"3" @ 300dpi might well be over 500k So I would make sure that in some "photo editor" on your computer to make sure the image is about 75dpi or so, then you can make the image bigger at that resolution. and save it as a compressed .jpeg this will make the file size even smaller. Color also adds to the file size. if you can drop the image to 16 colors or (VGA) that will make the file size smaller. hope that helps.
  18. I dont know two much about subaru DR manual trannys. But i would check the linkage of the Hi/Low lever. if it was somehow internaly was jarred into a position betwine the two settings it could result in simular issues
  19. What! no duct tape? I carry a huge role of fiberglass reinforced non-metalic duct tape in the subee. It's some strong stuff:grin: probly more like carpet tape
  20. I had a grinding noise when i first put the lift on. the problem for me was that I have an automatic, and the exhaust is bolted to the tranny. After the lift the pitch of the engine and tranny caused the CAT to be pushed up against the driveshaft. This was resolved by making custom 1.75" blocks to lower the tranny, thus bringing the transmission/driveshaft alignment back into harmony.
  21. Ever notice ,,, when you hear of acar deal like that,,, 80% of the time it involves a Subaru.... and 50% of the time its in Washington state:rolleyes:
  22. I had exacly the sam simptoms with my 86 GL Turns out it was my charging system,, I had been running the off-road lights all night and the altinator could not keep up with the drain on the battery. I know there could be many many other causes. But I would check your electrical system,, manly the charging part.
  23. Does it come with a "roll me over" bumper sticker? I love it! Like some sorta poor mans MAD MAX Road warrior moble
