engine swap questions
Hey Jeff did you find an engine? How many miles does this one have?I would definately say do the timing belts and also cam seal as said before. And if you can do your water pump first before install since that is a pain as you showed me.

Meet for the old skool' subies of colorado and surrounding area?
Sad to say Jeff just blew a rod on his 6.I got some new ideas for him and his car as soon as we locate him an extra engine.

Where do I get the dual weber carb setup
Ummm dual webers is what I am in the process of working on right now.I am trying to figure out what is the best design for the adapter plates.Since the carbs are much bigger than on the dual hitachi's they need to be off-set about 1.5" or so.If you find adaters and anything that leads me to a general ballpark idea of what jets to run let me know please. That would save me a whole lot of time.

Meet for the old skool' subies of colorado and surrounding area?
Hey I would really like to see if we can set something up for us old school subaru people of colorado and a couple of the surrounding states.Any chance we could have a meet/swap/off road thing?I noticed I have gotten quite a bit of stuff piling up from my junkyard runs and I thought there may be stuff I have that others may need and vise versa.Just wanted to put this out there and see what the rest of you thought.Something this summer would be cool.Don't really have the time to set something up but I would like to see who has some ideas.

Mr. Suby making a "thump" noise from the front right wheel....
Sounds like it may be inside the tranny.Drain the trans fluid and check for particles and such.

Putting together neccessary parts for Weber install.
The ea82 intake that you will need is one off of a carbed car.85-87 is the right years I think. Also the gaskets are the same you may have to do some trimming on the gasket to make sure it doesn't restrict airflow on the ea82 intake.

Gauge cluster mod!
Sounds pretty cool.I have been thinking of doing something like that. What type of blue bulbs did you use?

EA82T - Blown Headgaskets?
Head should be decked .005-.010".If you want some performance then now is the time to get the heads polished.I know that wjm said there isn't a whole lot of room to do major port work so if you decide to do this be careful. Also I have a turbo spider intake of a 87 xt turbo if you need one.Good idea to do the build up yourself rather than to find out later what else went wrong.

struts struts struts
Looks very nice!I may have to do something like that with my hatch.Anyone else do something similar?

driving techniques
Good for you on your wife letting you auto cross.I would think it would be best to manual shift the trans when you can.So that you can choose when it shifts rather than your tranny shifting when you dont want it to.Could be a matter of making the turn fast or not.Good luck.

Oh Snap!!!!
You could go to the bike parts store and get a cable that is ofted used for derailers and brakes ect.You can get a cable bracket that will let you hook the 2 together to give you more length.May not be the answer you were looking for but just an idea.

Bit of info for those who want to know
Man I would love a d/r tranny like that!!! Could you imagine a ej22t mated to that thing? That would be phenomenal! Can anyone say 33" super swamper boggers on a legacy with that! Pictures like that should not be allowed! Now I want one too badly.Just kidding I am glad to see that. Now I know what I will do if I ever go visit new z or Australia.

74 Gl
Hey Tom,I have never been to that one before.Where is that one located at?Thanks:)

me and a friend
Sounds pretty cool. One thing you would be limited to is the weight. That is the one down side.I thing you would be better of with a larger displacement suby motor.Maybe a ER27 or EG33.

Calling all 88 RX coupe owners
Torxxx are you planning on resealing the engine?Like cam seals and such? Are you planning on gutting the cat and putting a larger exhaust on there?I know that you had mentioned rally earlier and thought I would definately do the same if I got a car like that.Long travel suspension! + power = FUN! Also I would second the notion on the mobil1 10w30.That is my favorite engine oil for anything.A friend of mine once ran his for 15k and then drained it like nothing happened.Good stuff.
-
Just an update on the hatch
I would love to do that to my hatch! How much of a lift on it and what tires.I noticed you did the 6lug conversion on it.Very nice looking. That roof basket adds a nice touch also.
-
my new toy... 88 RX coupe
Nice score torxxx. Is it rusty?Lots of subies seem to get rusty pretty quick in Alaska. That 76,000 on the odo. is insane. What color is it?Sweet!

95 Leg OBW: Best front brake pads?
Jerry DeMoss replied to 95LEGOBW's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI too would recomend ceramics.I just put some on my wifes Jeep Liberty and they are great. Also I have used ceramics front and rear on a friend of mines legacy.Carquest brand seems to do well as far as long life and very quiet with not as much brake dust. Also the braking power is substancially better.Another brand that is good is pepboys brand : Prostop ceramic pad.I have had plenty of luck with those as I maintain a fleet of different vehicles.Good luck.
