  1. Thankyou for posting that interesting tidbit.I am very into the aviation world, being a certified A&P mechanic.I would love to see what this thing looks like.I wonder what engine it used since it was said it uses a 6cyl subaru engine?
  2. Cool Rick. Its just too bad you are having troubles with your ea81.There are plenty of ej22's to be had at the JY's.I hope we can find you a good low miler.Let me know what you decide.
  3. With the stock 13" steelies maybe just 185/70's but with pugs maybe a 205/65/14 or with the 15's.
  4. Welcome. You live in the right area to find a good subaru for what you are looking to do with it.There are plenty of guys and gals in your area with subes for sale.Check craigslist and you should be able to find something that suites you.
  5. I really like that wagon.I am sure it will be nice and purdy again.I know I had talked to you about your 87 brat and thinking about the toy axles on it,but if you change your mind let me know I would love to buy your brat.
  6. Thats too bad!Good thing it stayed to only 1 door hopefully.Looks like you may need a new door.
  7. Looks really good with those tires.Nice pics.
  8. The hatch I used to have got squirely pretty easy.Like said earlier may have something to do with tires.
  9. Sure ya do. Just a good chance to get muddy or dusty. And test the limits of the subes, and see who can go the longest without breaking something.Wish I wasn't sick when you guys went it would have been a blast.Nice pics BTW.
  10. That is a little strange to do it only in 4th.I think like the others said that it just wasn't warmed up enough.
  11. If nothing else I will rebuild the carb and sell it to a vw nut who can use it or trade it towards a dgev.Or figure a way to use it myself.
  12. Thanks for the info.It kinda sucks that they are different.I did however forget to mention that it is converted to electric choke.I will have to check the carb out more.I already have it dis assembled and in the parts cleaning tank.I will have to check with redline. Thanks for the help.
  13. I like the manual better also.Looks better I think and easier to fix if need be.
  14. I just picked up a weber 32/36 from a guy last night. It only cost me $50(couldn't pass it up) and came with a vw bug empi intake and air cleaner...Anyway it was covered in oil and couldn't tell what model it was till I got it home and cleaned it up.It turns out it is a DFAV.Just wanted to see what differences it has from a DGEV ect. Also wondered if anyone has a gasket kit/overhaul kit for one of these? I saw some on ebay but I thought I would ask first. Thanks for reading my post.
  15. Nice to hear you are restoring an old brat.As for your decals you will need to talk to McBrat (the brat guru) he has very nice selection of them. Are you keeping everything stock as far as suspension and engine go?There are a few people on here that have ea71 engine parts.I am sure you will find what you need here. Also welcome to the board.
  16. Man I am really sorry to hear that.Good luck.If you need some help beatin' them down when you find who took it let me know.
  17. I am starting to do this also to the various parts I am peicing together for a ea81 as well. Here is what I would do: 1. Port the heads(extensively on intake side) 2. Use the ea71 or ea82 pistons like said above 3. Shave the heads .020 to .040" thousanths 4. Dual carb intake or convert over to ea82 intake man. 5. Weber carb or carbs:) 6. Port intake manifold 7. Build a slightly larger diameter "y" pipe back to bigger exhaust
  18. Welcome. What kind of car do you drive?
  19. I am a fleet mechanic so I face this all the time.Use a heat gun.Usually the type to strip paint with.Heat from the inside if you can.(May have to take it off the car).Heat around the area itself so you dont concentrate heat in one spot too much as you could warp the plastic.Use something to apply pressure to it while you are heating it to pop it back into place.Hope this helps.
  20. If you ever parked one of those in a lumber yard you would never find it again!
  21. Sweet! I like old school stuff too,but have had quite a bit of newer ones though. The first machine I modified was a 1980 Kawasaki Drifter 340cc F/A.Ported both cylinders and shaved the heads a bit.Was alot of fun for such a small machine. I really want an old rotary/wankel sled. That one that you have in the works sound really cool. Not too many around.
  22. Plenty of ea82t guru's on here to help you out.Sorry I am an ea81 freak. I think stock boost on those are around 6 or 7.I know that some members on here have their car up around 10 or 12.Plenty of stuff to be done.Welcome to the board.
