  1. What do you mean finally? Are you saying that a Harley and a Suzuki v twin sound the same? If you are you are out of your mind. I understand the question is about how a boxer gets its sound. You are saying that all engines with the same number of cylanders sound alike if they have the same exhaust. I am giving the most obvious example of that not being true. Finally!
  2. If it is all in the exhaust, then why don't the jap bikes with v twins and loud pipes sound like Harleys. If you say they do you are completely tone deaf. I have been told that the reason for the distinct Harley sound is the angle that the valves are in the head. If this is true it the sound it makes would have absolutely nothing to do with the exhaust that is on the bike. I have heard Honda and suzuki v twins with straight pipes and they sound loke crap. Harleys sound so nice.
  3. I had 185/80/13s on my Brat. I think that is the tallest 13 you can buy.
  4. I will never buy another ea82 car again. I wish I could find a decent ea81 out here though. My vote is the ea81. The fact that the ea82 is included in the same engine series is to me a travesty.
  5. I still have the original window sticker from my dearly departed Turbo Brat. It was $10,500.
  6. Thanks Tim. After I do my engine swap I will be getting these studs and nuts and running the pugs
  7. When I saw the picture of the silica beads I realised they are the same thing as air dryer beads.Should be very cheap and easy to get ahold of.
  8. I was one of the lost for the september 04 meet.Would be very interested in going back down that way and actually getting to meet some people.
  9. I recently replaced the clutchin my 87 wagon.I bought the new one at NAPA.I tolg them it was for an 87 gl wagon 4wd ohc. I got an ea81 clutch kit.I took it back and they looked up a cluth kit for an ohv 1.8 and got the same part number.I asked them what they had listed in the computer, and there was no listing for a GL of any kind. There was a listing for an XT, so I had them order it and viola,I got the right clutch kit.
  10. 145 LB Feet is the correct spec to torque to if I remember correctly
  11. If they need a turbo brat to blow up tell them we will trade my old rust bucket for that one.Dave
  12. Lrt me know when it is all going down and I will try to make it.I couldn't go to midwest 3 so would be cool to meet some other sube folk
  13. Unfortuanetly his throw out bearing decided life wasn't worth living two days before he was to get it done. I was actually gonna do a mod on my car instead of just saying "I plan on". Still gonna do it I just have to save up a little more money. Will update on it after.Dave
  14. I need to replace the clutch in my 87 Wagon.I am getting a Luk kit for it today.I am going with a luk upon the advice of Chef_Tim.I am gonna try dropping the trannyand pulling it back instead of pulling the motor.I won't have a chance to get it all done in one day since I have to schedule it around two full time jobs.Any hints or suggestions or tools I will need to have would be very appreciated.Thanks.Dave
  15. Did your mechanic at least say he would give you a kiss when he was done F^%##&G you.OUCH!!
  16. McBrat posted something about it in the market place. He might Know more about it.
  17. the last one I did I used a crescent wrench and elbow grease.I did use antiseize though.
  18. Don't run the engine until the towel is out. This might sound rediculous but you can bend the hell out of your valves with a towel.I have seen extensive damage done to bb chevy from a towel left in the intake.I hope nothing is broken.
  19. I have never seen an 82 Sube with the quad headlights before. But then again the only 82 Subes I've ever seen are Brats.Dave
  20. Very often new year models are released early.so your 88 could have been bought in 87.Welcome to the board.Dave
  21. I had an 84 wagon that had the same problem.I did the redneck thing and popped the spring out of the steering lock.I know that this isn't an actual fix but it worked.I had it happen to me while at work delivering pizza so I didn't have time to actuallly fix anything.
  22. I'm on the west end of South Dakota in Rapid City.Chef_Tim is on the east end in Sioux Falls. If you are in this area and need help my number is (605)484-4111.If you have problems on the east end of SD get ahold of Tim.He and Vicky are,no kidding, the nicest people you will ever meet.If you want a guide through the Black Hills I would love to show you around.Dave
  23. I have driven on a clicking cv till it blew up,and that took months to happen.I would go and buy a reman shaft.they can typically be had for about $60 bucks with a lifetime warranty.IMO I would do the one that needs to be done and leave the other alone. Also the cat is directly above the right side shaft which probably doesn't do it any favors considering how hot cats get.Dave
