So, if it's not the radiator, do you mind telling what is?
-
When you increase the length of the strut (which is what you do if you put lift blocks on top of them) the wheel moves downwards, but it can't go down in a straight line because the trailing arm and control arm are pivoting at the subframe. So it moves in an arc, thus creating camber.

to be honest, thats a shame it didn't look that bad and the axle thing could've been solved (I believe EA82 inner cups give you more room for flex) I guess when you live in a country where old subarus are plentifull you don't care too much about one hatch..

Equus uses 1/8'' NPT threads, most sensor fitting (including the ones on the oil pump) are BSPT, just like GD said. They will go in, but you will destroy the threads. Also, the body of the sensors needs to be connected to ground (engine) so you cannot use teflon tape to help it seal.

Subaru 360 Starts, Runs then Dies
joostvdw replied to brus brother's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
sounds very much like a fuel related issue check for fuel flow (replace filter and see if fuel comes out the fuel line) also check if the float in the carb is working properly. If this car has a fuel pump (I dont think so) see if it still works. -
yes and no, they fit, but not without some modification. When putting EJ struts on a XT6 you need to widen the flange at the bottom, so, the XT6 strut is too wide for your impreza. The bolt holes are also too small.

need a little help, 89 XT turbo
joostvdw replied to one eye's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I agree with rob, especially on turbos, if it doesn't start when hot, replace the coil. Also, there is nothing wrong with starting it floored, I have to do that 75% of the time and it starts everytime. Has something to do with the idle being to low (on my car that is). -
good to hear you're not dumping it, after this reseal you'll love him even more. But I would try to keep as many of those options as you can, you may not use them, but they increase it's value and rarity (especially if they work )

interesting find re: Ej18 side feel injectors
joostvdw replied to s'ko's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
according to the bosch part number in that ebay ad, the mercedes benz 4,5 liter V8 from the 1970's uses the same injector. Also the Volvo 140,164 and 1800 use the same injector. Strange, as those cars are all way older than the subarus we're dealing with :-\ Also, that bosch part number doesn't seem to be pointing towards Datsuns/Nissans. edit: Some further searching shows that the CA18DET uses the same injectors. Since this is a very popular engine to mod, there are tons of aftermarket injectors available. The stock ones are 370cc and good for up to 180hp (stock CA18DET is already 170hp). Mitsubishi DSM injectors seems like a popular and cheap upgrade for them, so they should also fit in the EA82T (WJM has already mentioned this a long time ago) -
interesting find re: Ej18 side feel injectors
joostvdw replied to s'ko's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
There has been some debate about this, since the nissan and subaru run at different fuel pressures. Besides that, it's near impossible or damn expensive for me to get those nissan injectors. So if I could modify the ea82t injectors, that would be nice. -
Head bolt socket pics
joostvdw replied to [HTi]Johnson's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just watch it as the emory piece and the socket will get very VERY hot in a short notice. A hacksaw would work probably as well and takes 1/10th of the time. -
will EA82's run on 3 cylinders?
joostvdw replied to idosubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
they will run on 4, 3, 2 and even 1 cilinder but dont expect to go anywhere on 1 cilinder... 2 cilinders is doable, sounds like an old citroen 2CV, probably has the same amount of power. -

joostvdw replied to [HTi]Johnson's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
No you can't reach the headbolts with a normal socket if you want to keep the cam carriers on (which is what you want when you're only retorquing) It's like a shallow socket welded onto an thin extension, this allows you to clear the cam. -
L/F: XT drivers window
joostvdw replied to SmashedGlass's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Easy way to check is to just hold half of a white sheet of paper behind the glass and the other half not. Then you can see the tint. -
What about draining the old diff fluid, mixing it 50/50 with ATF and putting it back for another 100miles? I ask this because the stores here don't carry seafoam and I think ATF lubricates better then seafoam as well as cleaning the inside of the diff. Also, since ATF is more of an oil then seafoam, it may be better when put into an LSD.

interesting find re: Ej18 side feel injectors
joostvdw replied to s'ko's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Is this also possible on the EA82 injectors? If so, that would be a very cheap and easy injector upgrade for the turbo people.. -
Something else to consider, the hella wiring diagram probably assumes switched power, but subies have switched ground, so that makes stuff a little backwards. If I were you, I would wire them with a seperate switch, relay and fuse and don't mess with the original system.

The original lenses are not up to the job for the HID. They are not clear lenses and will "spray" a part of the light up high, into the eyes of fellow motorist, something you do not want. Those conversion kits will not change that. And since there are no proper clear lenses available for the older subarus (except XT that is) I would go for aux lights. That mutant subaru did make me laugh though :-p
-
I've always heard the oil pumps are the weak link on justys and so I would thoroughly check that before putting it back in with your "fresh" motor, perhaps even a new one just to be sure.
-
Wouldn't it just pressurize the HHO unit? The pressure difference will make the air go into the unit and not just rush by. What you are talking about would only work if the HHO unit worked on a higher pressure than the turbo can supply.

Woah that air filter is huge! Does it clear the hood? Are you going to do anything about the "Edelbrock" lettering on it? Engine looks nice and clean though. Thought about extrude honing the intake? Your other work also looks great, the body isn't looking all that bad in the pictures. -
you're talking about Huck

Rumbling/Vibration & Overheating/Radiator
joostvdw replied to mentis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you have a junkyards near you it won't be too hard to find that part at all. All EA82 equipped subarus from that era have the same front hubs, so there should be loads of them around. Someone more knowledgeable then me should be able to give you a list of models/years to look for Also, if you ask nicely in the wanted area someone might have one for you laying around. -
I think this completely sums up this whole topic. There is no way to make energy out of nothing. So running an engine completely on water (hydrogen) which it generates on it's own is not that easy... (read, impossible) On the other hand, the addition of hydrogen gas to the combustion process in a car MIGHT reduce pollution, I don't know, but would like to see it work. Because that would be worth looking into.
