  1. Sometimes when I pump the gas to get the choke to set, it sometimes causes the secondary to open up and stick on my Brat causing it to rev really high. I in turn, have to get out and push it closed to knock the idle back down. What can I do to keep it from doing this, it has done it since day 1 but only sticks every so often. The spring was installed to cut down on this from happening.
  2. Looks like you have minimal shifter slop too. You have got quite the prize there Connie. If I didn't cut the wires off my analog EA81 cluster and hung it on my wall, you could have it.
  3. Thanks Brian. I try my hardest to help people with Subaru problems. After about the third reply and he mentioned checking the coil, I gave up. Figured he would spend his Saturday checking the entire electrical system of the EA82T and then would come back empty handed. I have seen cars start up fine and run one minute. Then the next not start at all because of corrosion.
  4. I take it by "red one" burning out, you mean the positive cable. Those are a fairly inexpensive piece to just pick up at the wal-mart and they take just a minute to replace. How you describe that sounds exactly like a bad connection. Have you tried jumping the car off?
  5. Your going to have some trouble getting used to it. Our old '83's will blow the doors of the 08 Impreza's.
  6. Double check your battery connections. Sounds like you have a crappy connection, verify there is no corrosion on your terminals.
  7. There is a great place in Clinton TN. I found this place a few months ago, guy is great and knows it all. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=83903
  8. Course you can't get any pictures at Rob's house without getting 4 Subaru's in the picture. Connie, that is cool as crap that you bought a sweet PNW car and are bringing it back to this side of the country.
  9. Big oil had to find something to keep the electric cars from taking over. Car that small, the person will just leave a big dent that can be banged out.
  10. Thats funny this was brought up. The piece in front of the door in my 83 Brat as clipped on while on my 84 hatch it was glued on. That stuff is a pain to get out of the trim pieces.
  11. When you let off the gas after revving it, she sounds like Satan blowing his nose.
  12. That has to be one of the most unique online descriptions of an exhaust, I got quite the chuckle. Can't wait to see the vid.
  13. How about you get a video of it. I would like to hear the ER27 with a flowmaster exhaust.
  14. I do not have access to the EA82 5 speed and I will just have this transmission lying around after 86BRATMAN buys the motor. The bottom line is I am content with the 4 speed.
  15. The bright side is at least its RWD. Nipper, I agree, let's hope they don't lose the boxer motor.
  16. I am on a first name basis with everyone at Earl Duff in Harriman. They have always been great about getting parts and have done a lot of service on my buddy's WRX, several, several times.
  17. I don't see it happening. They have spent almost the entire life of the corporation promoting the 4WD which later turned to AWD. I think by them doing that is pissing it all away.
  18. I went by there the other day and there is an 08 Imp up there with a roof rack that looks like someone welded a shopping cart to the roof it's so big. I am not a Grayson Subaru fan, place screwed my buddy over on his 02 WRX. 2nd gear went out on him day after buying it.
  19. You bought an EA82T, that is a completely different motor than the carb'd EA81 that came with the Brat. The EA81 is a great motor and you should stick to it. The EA82T WILL blow head gaskets on you. Hopefully the 5 speed is dual range, those will require some modification to work but they are worth it.
  20. I did it the third day with my Brat. Luckily I just broke the tail light and didn't hit the side of the bed.
  21. I thought about checking out the things that LuK automotive makes as I work for the the Schaeffler Group warehouse. I realized that the XT6 clutch would not work being that it is an EA81 when I did some searching last night. I am getting pretty bad shutter when I let out on the clutch has it is, did an OEM cable and that helped a bit but I think it is about time. Anyone have any favorite brands and tips for installation/removal?
