  1. Was trying to get a look at how much snow we can expect to find and it its iced over or ??? I sure hope you have good tires. Mine are OK but nothing too well fit for offroading on ice. Luckily there's sand underneath most everything down there.
  2. Yeeehaaa! I wouldn't bother with a perfect color match. Just make it a color you can live with and have it come out decent and you're ahead of what Subaru offered back then. I told him I would be sending a friend by to look it over but that never happened. Since he knows so little about it I'd bet he'd take around $500. So offer $450
  3. Valentine's Day Good thing my wife is cool ... or so I hope. We generally don't give a rats tail about crap like that. Strictly commercial b/s
  4. You're right around the corner from the place! And we've never met yet? Or am I forgetting you? Knowing you're so close I might change plans and go. I'll send a PM with my cel. phn # so please reply with yours ...and a name,'cause I can't recall which guy you are, sorry. I'm counting on getting stuck - which usually I manage to avoid. I have at least one or two tow straps and AAA Plus account. Let me check with the family when they wake up. Talk to you soon, Paul
  5. paco- I spoke with him a week ago. It's a '74 and a 4spd as it should be. his own paint job .... underneath is the funky green which he loathed,detested,etc.... and said so numerous times in our 10 min. conversation. Nice enough guy. Good luck with it. I'd be more interested but just too much going on and cars coming in this spring. Those 1400's are a bit tricky but if it runs and drives I say go for it! He did say it does run but has only driven it around the yard a few times in the last decade....talk to him.
  6. That's an air passage door not closing entirely. Hit defrost or something else and you'll hear it stop.
  7. Any idea how much they'll sell it for? What colors? Any front bar? Thanks!
  8. You mean her boyfreind in Portland dumper her !!! ???? j/k Welcome back,Russ!
  9. the heck with these We want to see YOUR wagon with that EJ in it !!
  10. Not bashing Skip but I recently saw my barely used lightened flywheel - by Skip -and its not what I would call wonderful. For one thing the correct way to machine this object is NOT on a lathe -believe it or not. It should be done on a milling machine. My lightened XT flywheel has some bluing spots and if it wasn't for just wanting to wrap up this project I'd have gone for another flywheel. Skip do what he could. But to the guy who worked on my car - and for my eyes - it just didn't work out so well. Good luck with yours.
  11. Thanks! I just discovered how annoying scanning with Windows Vista is ...time for the free flip over to Win. 7
  12. Good news is my dad is doing much better now. But I'll have to scan stuff later, just too beatup and need to sleep soon. I used to have all those on my old computer, but that's life. I'll scan the sedans and 4WD wagons but I think my Brat supplement was left in the Brat at my inlaw's. Not far away,I'll get that tomorrow or soon. Tomorrow is a full day with retrieving my '87 Turbo wagon.
  13. At this moment I can't find the Brat supplement I know I have around here. Might be out in my '78 wagon. And although I do have the '78 1600 FSM with all wiring diagrams for the sedan, coupe, wagon and 4WD wagon it's a 5 or 6 page fold out and I need to run to see my dad in the hospital...so maybe tonight or tomorrow.
  14. I can get one to you later in the week if nobody else does. Old computer had them on there, never got them over to the new rig. Anything specific you're interested in know about? Some considerations: Always check the fuses -take it out and pull on both ends -they can be deceiving. Doesn't stay running for more than a few seconds? - change alternator and voltage regulator together - same time. Just 2 main culprits worth mentioning. Let us know if you still need help.
  15. Report came in that the car runs very well and with 4WD engaged on icy dirt/gravel there was no binding noticed. My friend changed the inner joints up front. Test drove it a couple hours ago. Used FWD on the pavement for a short run too. I sure do have the 3.9 rear ready to drop in if needed but as of right now it appear it might not be necessary... So , could a JDM have 23 splines on their turbo trannies?
  16. Thanks. Yes,I'm familiar with the whole 23 or 25 spline deal. I once used my FSM's to answer questions here about which gets which , and those raised rings which indicate each's use. But those were in reference to USA models. I guess either they pulled a fast one on me or ?? I am positive I requested a 25 spline tranny for a USA turbo model. :-\ We'll see what happened when he or I get back to it. Just had to wrap it up soon after the discovery yesterday and now its going to be freezing for a few days so probably neither one of us will get back to it untill ??? maybe a few days. Good new is the JDM engine has great compression and runs really fine.
  17. Trying to button up my '87 turbo wagon and there seems to be some slack on the outshafts. My friend Charlie was underside when doing the install and didn't really notice the slop at the time. I remember slipping the passenger side on and it seemed normal-no play. When we went to crank the engine by hand before starting we heard some funky noise and upon inspection found the d/s axle hobbling. The pass. side apparently had too much load to turn but a shake with the hand showed the same slop. It was quuite awhile ago that I purchased the tranny so I'll have to check but I'm VERY SURE I specifically requested a 25 spline turbo tranny. Everything about it looked the same as the one that came out with the exception of location of the reverse switch or neutral switch....can't remember exatly which one right now. He's going to swap out the inner joints. Anybody see any problems with going that route? Thanks for any help.
  18. ok thanks for clarifying You know what I meant. Hate to see you in an Autozone anywhere. Pepboys, now that's different. I could care less about turnout by our group or any yuppie turkeyasses. Of course everyone will take that the wrong way and cry so let me explain. It's really nice to meet up with you guys but it's a Car Show first and foremost. We use that as a place to meet and that's a nice addition. First year we went it was Wagon78 and I - nobody else in a Subaru. Still enjoyed talking with owners of many different makes. After a couple years of a handful or less of us meeting up we finally started a post that actually caught on and we began to have our East Coast Meet there. Toughed it during the whole "subarubratdotcom" Scott thing and his banners for Bush/Cheney (no puking emoticon here? , damn! ). Skip and the go-kart ,that was fun! Lots of great moments and a few we'd just turn the page on I've skipped a year or more at times. Not a bad idea to take a break if it's going to annoy you being there. Very understandable. For us its a combo thing. My son and I will also hit the Barrens or if its back again we'll hit the reptile/amphibian show at the Civic Center across the street. Hopefully I'll have something really sweet there and something to go in the woods with. Need that 2nd driver. We'll see. And maybe you'll see too. This year could be pretty cool. Hate to play the "secret ride" thing like the west coast guys do but I don't want people counting my chickens before they hatch either. And if I can talk them into it Andrew would bring something that's extremely rare and Charlie can have his nearly restored rustfree '79 FE there too. Cheers! Add in some other CT folks and there's a good crowd of nonsnotty CT Yankee New Englanders.
