  1. And check the pedal box for a crack at the clutch pedal pivot on the left side of the pedal box.
  2. Engine should be an EA82T , you’ll see that in the heads if you get a good look around them. Lots to say here. The basics are fine but before you get too deep maybe do a compression test. How’s the oil and coolant ? Not mixture ? Closed air system so be sure all ductwork and breathing hoses are not cracked. You found the right place for support. I’m not the best that’s for sure but I did own a couple of these at least. Don’t panic if it blows smoke when you do get it started. Should you need parts they are getting very hard to locate. Best of luck with the project.
  3. Enjoy ! Many of us here are long time users and abusers. Main theme for me - functionality and fun per dollar. So it’s strictly used Subarus for me. That should tell you that as time goes on you’ll appreciate your Subaru even more , or a guy like myself will if you trade up some day. Cheers !
  4. Do you have a good used pad you’re swapping in ? Just curious.
  5. You’re at this point breaking down the dashboard. With the five bolts mentioned you should be able to move the dashboard freely. As it becomes loose you’ll see the obvious places you’ll need attention mike the speedometer cable , wiring harness connections , and really very little else.
  6. Yeah Jim , as a suggestion , maybe more so in better times , taking a nice trek out west could find you in a true solid car. And not some east coast detailed ride hiding the ugly truth. Of course you could do what I’ve done as well as many others and just have one shipped. I’m sure you’d rather have your eyes over it first but some of our wonderful board members have helped me this way going back many years now. Nuttin like solid baby ! Good luck. And like the old Jews say “pay the twenty bucks”.
  7. Several of us recommended subarupartsforyou.com for genuine Subaru parts n goodies. https://www.subarupartsforyou.com/ $15.16 for the inner right timing cover $25.82 for the bracket
  8. Cool articles , thanks ! Much in agreement in the FE Coupe. The second article I think we all have a favorite we’d like to see in that list. Some that come to mind: an RX three door, 1977 Brat , yes 1977 not 78. , or an 81 with dual range. Some mighty fine newer gen rides there , just I’m so far behind and avoid the newer cars in general. Kind of like looking at young ladies that would cost a fortune and be difficult down the line.
  9. New ? Hmmm , mostly same old same old , paying bills , kids in college , miserable schedule I live , but the beer is great these days so why complain ?
  10. Dave !!!!!! good to see you back here. Hi to Melissa!!
  11. Generally found from late 79 production-wise thru the end of the 1600 , I’m guessing 1987 the latest here in the States. 80-84 sedans wagons hardtops coupe later for the hatchback which was labeled an STD , or fleet car for the latter years. I have thought they were long finished (1600) and yet I had come across one of those later hatchbacks in a boneyard and was surprised for sure. They came with rubber mats instead of carpet , and generally not much in features and a very “wipe able” interior. And they became “managed” unlike the early gen.
  12. I don’t think so. I know what you mean , not just the KC number etc , but these older ones don’t have a secondary number as far as I could see. Outside chance I missed something but I don’t think so. These are mostly about 30 years old or more.
  13. This shows a huge listing but not going back far enough and also not showing old part numbers as best as I can see. https://kyb.ru/docs/1/58e20fb4f94a7c983f1cd70e.pdf If you see better than I can - and take the time - please let me know if you see the earlier series listed anywhere. Those newer part numbers don’t help me. “Klassic” series does NOT show Subaru in the list.
  14. Someone on this board had posted great info a while back but I fail in my searching for that post. Recently dug out from storage of a large lot of NOS parts we acquired in 2007 , several shocks and struts. Thanks for any hep. Yes I have tried the KYB sites and they don’t even have Subaru in the drop down. These are all pertaining to Subarus from 1972- to - second gen. I have some gas adjust type as well as stock replacements. KC 2024 KG 4782 KG 4644 Y26 Thanks again.
  15. Good to see folks returning to the more hospitable message board. And also nice to see you’re pushing around the same old ride. I’m in that league too. Enjoy !
  16. Sorry for lack of precise info but I am working on it. Also sorry to send you over to eBay but that’s where there are for better or worse. Search me out - cashingmystuffin - and scroll through my items. As time permits I’ll be listing an incredible amount of New Old Stock genuine Subaru parts from 1968-1979 mostly. For now I managed to pull some suspension units during a quick stop at storage. Thanks for looking. Enjoy!
  17. You’re welcome. Figured you and other would enjoy that one. TWO clocks !! Same but different mount. Lol Earl has those early “Subaru” decals he reproduced. He is/was “pooparu” on here. You can catch him on the FB groups especially the Old School Subaru Group which I think he created. And again , I’m pretty sure that one is for 1972/73. And that wagon although not fully displayed is a Tailgate wagon , very rare and totally bit chin. As I find them I’ll do my best to post them up. I have too much of that stuff.

  19. Came across a 1973 accessories catalog but I am as usual having trouble getting an easy upload. Anybody want to accept them in an email etc and paste them here ? I’m not that old but apparently stupid enough that I can’t easily see how to reduce pics size on my I phone 8 or whatever it is.
  20. Not sure why this is adding the quote when I didn’t intend on it. But anyways , yeah , some of us old hardcores have the options catalogs etc etc etc In fact I am cleaning house of all sorts of items as well as new old stock and great used parts. Enjoy !
  21. No Levorg ! Those bastids !! Never forget the son of a @&$&@ sales bag when I walked into the showroom and asked about a Legacy wagon around that era mentioned above. That dummy was so dipped in his training he refused to acknowledge there were previously Legacy wagons. And naturally he was a tad snotty. Oh to be able to smack the $#|+ out of that punk !!! Sorry , just had to vent.
  22. There are factory service manuals out there online and physical copies as well.
