  1. Power Surge? EA81??? Never thought I'd ever see those two words in th same sentence!!!
  2. Miles, you kill me!!!! Was that you wag on the obstacle coarse? Wish we had snow in Fresno, though I can always drive 45 min up to the legendary Sierra Nevadas.
  3. The leak is pretty bad - I think it's beyond a stop leak. Plus, the rack at the yard looks very clean... and the ball joint have already been removed, so X amount of work has already been done and since I'm kinda lazy.....
  4. ... pretty bad, out of both tie ends, on Red, the$300 94 Alpine Wagon. I was at the bone-yard today looking for parts for Murhpy, my 87 T-wag, and found one on a 92 that shows not a sign of leaking. How hard is it to replace the rack? I can't find my Chiltons guide so I'm flying blind, but it looks easy enough. Any thoughts?
  5. It's Saturday. That means a trip to the Bone-Yard. I am going to pick up a PS pump for murph, and a few parts for Red, the 94 Alpine wagon. She needs a new(er), non-leaking rack, and also a rt rear abs brake sensor. Wish me happy hunting.
  6. Thanks all. I'll probably hit the J-Yard this week-end and get the things I need.
  7. Anyone have one? Mine is leaking and I want to replace the seal. Would help if I know what to look for.
  8. Check rotor. Make sure the screw didn't fall out, which would cause no spark.
  9. Hey All: Sorry it's been so long. You know the story -- Been Busy!!! Also, the Subes have been doing well, so there has been no need to post... until now. Murphy, the $500 87 T-Wag, had been doing great. It was having that sluggish thing that happens when the terminals on the TPS are corroded. This summer I went out and spend a whopping $8.99 on a bottle of MAP spray and used that to clean the terminals and the MAP while I was at it. All was good. In the last few weeks, Muph was starting to sing a little bit. I had heard that sound before, and was planning to check all the bearing tomorrow. Well tomorrow came and went, then a week went by. Then two... And yesterday it happened. Murph just flat out quit. I was only a block away from the house too! I knew exactly what it problem was. I jetisoned my timing belt covers long ago, and could see the drivers side belt just hanging there. Took the front stuff off today, and found the idler belt pulley had froze, causing the belt to jump off. It didn't strip the teeth from the belt, but I'll replace it anyway. I had replaced that bearing two years ago when I got the new engine for Murph. I'm guessing I got one of those Chinese bearings I have heard so much about (are the Chinese using lead in the bearing as well as toys?). I also found the pin that holds the harmonic balancer was bent and just about to give way. There is wear on both the front timing gear and the balancer where the pin goes, so I might drill a new whole in the balancer for a new pin. Oh, and the PS pump is leaking. I pulled the pulley off and I can see the bearing. Isn't there suppoed to be a seal, like the front cam or rear main seal, in there? That's all for now. Will update soon. I must now shower and get ready to go see a movie (Golden Compass).
  10. Ouch!!! I thought Murph, the $500 87 T-Wag sounded bad :-( (just TOD for me)
  11. OK. So I've seen the pictures of the new Kia Rio 5, now where are the WRX pics?
  12. Yeah, check the hydraulic fluid in the clutch reservoir. I've had that happen on one of my cars.
  13. Red, the $300 94 Alpine Wagon, has heated seats, but I couldn't tell if they worked during the summer. But now that it's colder, I find they work great. Question: are there any indicator lights to show that the heated seats are turned on in the first Gen Leggy's? Another question: what do you guys recommend to clean the cloth seats that have heaters?
  14. The screwey temp gauge problem, as I understand it, stems from either a bad ground on the gauge on the digi dash, or at the temp sensor itself. Do you have a GL-10 or RX? If the car is a turbo, and you haven't already done so, you MUST (my command) replace the radiator with a dual core model. I blew two head gaskets, and several coolant hoses before I buckeled to someones advise on the board to do so. It will save you many $$$ on towing and parts for blown head gaskets.
  15. One of my Blog-Pals runs this site, and today he posted a pic with an Impreza. Have fun!!!
  16. Better to do the ol' digi to auto swap.
  17. The gas gauge lies! When I first got my 94 Leggy wagon Red running and on the road, I was bummed because I thought I was getting bad gas mileage too. But I later found that the fuel gauge shows empty long before I get to that point. On "E" I still have about four or five gallons left in the tank. The quick and dirty way to check mileage: Fill up gas tank to max. Reset tripmeter to "0". Drive until gauge is on "E". Refill gas tank to max. Divide the mileage on the trip meter by the amount of gallons you just put in. You may have already done this, but I just thought I'd post it JIK.
  18. No covers on Murphy, the $500 87 T-Wag.
  19. You will need to put the car on wheel risers to give you clearance to drag the tranny out. I didn't have any when I did mine. I barely had enough clearance to get the tranny out from under the car.
  20. I prefer a bottom pull (OK, who's gonna be the first to be a wise-ackre). The hardest thing to do was to get the tranny out from under the car - that 3 A/T is HEAVY ENOUGH!!!
  21. Damn You Turbone! You have THREE SVX's - I have NONE!!! Cut it out already, will Ya!!!:dead:
