  1. I just got done trimming the airfoil off the bottom of the stock bumper on my lesbaru: Any thoughts about how to connect the bumper to the skid plate is welcome, as right now all I've got is that cutting board plastic.
  2. My grill is part of the hood, and it was just a few bolts to unscrew (awkward to access, but not hard) I think your year they are part of the front end though?
  3. The struts on 00+ outbacks are located at the bottom of the floor, instead of aside from the wheel arch, to give a little bit more cargo space in the back.

The most I've put in my tank is 16.3 gallons, on the way up the hill (a mile long 8% grade) the car started sputtering, and near the top I was down to about 45 on the interstate, I gunned it and it'd get a punch and then the rpms would drop a few seconds and then another punch. I know, it doesent seem like gunning the engine would be the best bet, but I knew that the gas station was at the bottom of the hill, and if worse came to worse I could coast. 16.9 gallon tank on mine according to the manual, I dont know why the low fuel light comes on at almost 4 gallons, thats nearly a quarter of a tank.
  5. I know no one cares and there is a strong aura of "Foreign cars are built better" in almost everyone. But my first car had 230K, was in perfect maintenance, didnt burn any oil, all original. It was a Lincoln 4.6 V8 I killed it driving through some water that had clogged and flooded the street, the air intake was too low and I hydrolocked it dead.
  6. lift your TJ to put 32's on it but then put some really baby all terrain patterns on it? Oh well, looks like you had fun, that area reminds me of ohiopyle.
  7. Jack the wheel off the ground to where it hangs freely and turn each wheel a few full rotations, if theres resisitance or anything at certain points its a problem with the bearing. My camry had bearing go bad however it was because I overloaded it hauling logs and went over a bump too bad. (was only roughly 100$ to get it back in working order though) I had the same symptons, at first I thought it was a giant rock stuck in the tread because it only happened if I turned right hard (putting extra force on the rear left bearing) it wasnt noticeable during normal driving.
  8. Just for the record, this helped tremendously, and other than some swearing, it wasnt that hard at all. The hardest part was I broke one of the valve stems and had to get the tire all the way off to fit a new one. Vibration is down to almost nothing at 70 mph, and there is no internal rattling sound that I can hear.

  10. Yesterday when I pulled out of my garage, it sounded like I was grinding or possibly dragging something. I put it in park and checked underneath to see if I had caught something on my driveway. Nothing there, drove on to my destination and no issues. My brakes have been squeeling like crazy as of late, and I figure it might be time to change the pads (Even though I JUST changed them 20,000 miles ago) But if I find out what that grinding noise was, it might be an answer to your problem.
  11. The traction control in my Lincoln (aka ford) was 230,000 miles old and had no issues. Could have just thrown in a limited slip though. Couldnt they have done the same thing here? (SHAWD) Arent these the same functions as LSD? (move power to wheel with more grip)
  12. These tires have been mounted AND balanced ("As best as tehy could do"), and people with more agressive treads have said that the bb trick works good. One even said if not for the roar, he would think he was running all seasons. Either way, its just money. Thanks for the support.

I've been told by several people (mainly jeepers on solid axle 35's and such) that it helps tremendously, and these tires have been balanced, there is still noticeable vibrations at highway cruising speeds. Nipper: I might try just the valve stem, they may fit, but then again, the guy doing it is shown popping the bead after taking the valve stem out. Thanks

  16. I have some tools, just not what I would call a well set up garage. And I'm trying to balance the swampers further, I've been told that bb's inside the rim fixes it, and re balances the tire everytime it spins.
  17. and remount? I dont have a lot of tools, so the cheaper/less tools required the better, at 0 psi I cant budge them and dont feel like going back to a shop and letting someone charge me again.

  20. I've read a translation of that video somewhere, and it said the host said that he wanted to stress the cars had identical tires, and they tried to make it as fair as possible. The comment on the google video site is funny because they seemed to have the same starting speed to me. Stopped to go. I drove through a puddle this weekend that (secretly) fed the Missippi River also. The puddle wasnt any bigger than my car but my car sank through it up to the mirrors and ingested some water, didnt hydrolock the engine, but it wouldnt start. Had crank it forever, and then it was rough while it cleared the water out (via the tailpipe) I also went ahead and changed the filters and fluids. But after that it drove 350 miles home and got 25 mpg at 80 mph. So I've decided they're tougher than they look.
  21. The Forester does have the better approach angles, but its still based on a small car. It gets gimped cup holders, less room, and the trunks too small. Although it is sportier than our bigger Outbacks, sporty is just a synonymn for 'small' to me. My last car was a Lincoln, so thats my logic
