EJ18 T-Belt on a late model EJ22 ?
Gloyale replied to Huck369's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNo I don't think it will work. Early phase 1 EJ22 it would. But 2001 is Phase II, and uses different, taller heads......different length between Cam and Crank.

Leaking R&P-need advice.
Gloyale replied to pickn4him's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNo you don't need to mess with the steering wheel. Just unbolt the clamps on both ends of the u-joint where it connects to the rack. 4 bolts hold the rack in place. Undo the tierods, and the hydraulic lines and it comes right out. Might need to remove the swaybar to clear.

Tires
EA81 and EA82 front brakes are not interchangable. The difference is in the thick pads on the one with newer brakes. Really, you should get soem new rims......cause next time you have to put new pads on the 2wd, then the wheels won't fit. Grinding the caliper would work......I did it on a Honda CRX I upgraded to Integra disc brakes......13's were still a tight fit.

SPFI "cold" weather won't start - now running
Yes, you should have power to that round connector. IIRC on the Black/White stripe wire.

XT power seatbelts
What year? I may be able to look in the XT FSM later.

Few EJ22 swap questions
That is asking for trouble. Never rely on a clamp to "snug down" an ill fitting hose. Get the proper size hose or it's all for nothing (when your Subaru goes up in flames from a gas line leak) Spend 5 bucks on a brass barbed adapter.
-
Few EJ22 swap questions
Yes you will. SPFI and MPFI pumps have larger fittings on them than the lines on your EA81.Oooops! Trust me. And using the factory return line is fine, the pressure in that line is way lower. Been working just fine in my car and others.

99 Legacy OBW 2.5 rough idle
Gloyale replied to Zuber's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMake sure the plug wires are not touching or coming near to the Fuel Injector wires. Intrference between the 2 will throw those misfire codes.

90 loyale 4x4 vibration + power loss.
Possibly a U-joint in the center driveline.

GDs gonna kill me
Number one thing I've done to prevent Oil from being sucked up into the intake (from the passenger side head. ussually) is to put an actual clamp on all the PCV lines. (espescially turbos) Even on non turbos, when you get that PCV hose clamped down tight, it can actually pull enough vaccuum through it to suck gases out of the case. When the PCV connection is loose......the suction of air rushing into the aircleaner overwhelms the suction of the PCV, and oil and crank gases get sucked up into the aircleaner. Keep that clamped tight, and the gases will be drawn into the intake by the PCV (below the carb, insead of above it soaking your airfilter)

Need electrical help - ignition
Sorry Coug.......this is an EA81 with a carb:rolleyes: No CAS, Fuse 5 is for something else on these.

SPFI "cold" weather won't start - now running
No ignition pulse will make the pump not run when cranking. You may have a distributor issue. Check it's connector. And really it would be a good idea to open it up, remove the lower cover, and spray some brake cleaner on the wheel in there. Sometimes grime will "clog" the slits in the wheel and give funky Disty operation.

Tires
The pad thickness has to b e the difference for the OP here. EA82 Front ends (brakes, bearing, suspension) are identical 4wd or 2wd so really the only reson those wheels are fitting either car is because one has worn down brakes.

Few EJ22 swap questions
For fuel lines, use brass barb fittings to make a reducer from EJ size to EA. You will need a similar adapter for the high pressure fuel line used with the new FI pump.

replacing front drive axle on 86 brat
Naaaa.......they are easy.......just have to have both wheels off the ground so it isn't twisted. Trust me.....I did it today. It's the easiest way. Just one, 14mm head bolt through the pivot.......and one, 12mm head bolt at the sway bar clamp and you are done. Drive the pin and pull the axle. No messing with ball joint, tie-rod, strut clamp......easy.

the possible death of the sedan
I've got a set of Headlights and surronds I'll donate if you decide to fix it. Heck.....might be a good 4wd conversion and lift candidate now......

replacing front drive axle on 86 brat
disconnect only the swaybar clamp and the inner pivot bolt for hte Control arm. No need to disconnect anything else to change an axle.

87.5 ea82t (ecu controlled wastegate actator) and manual boost controllers?
You got it backwards. The MBC is suppose to bleed off pressure from the wastegate line. NOT bleed pressure THROUGH If installed properly, a MBC with a weak spring will bleed ALL THE PRESSURE out of the WASTGATE line, leaving no pressure to open the wastegate, and Overboosting the intake. IF the spring is stiff, no pressure will bleed from the wastegate line, so it will actuate a the stock 6-7 PSi

1995 2.2L VS 1999 2.2L Difference ?
Gloyale replied to SubaruJawn's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXactually,IIRC it is the late phase I 2.2s that have single port. (95-98) IIRC, the Phase II (which share heads with the phase II 2.5) have dual ports. (99+) But again, irrelavant because there are bigger differences.

1995 2.2L VS 1999 2.2L Difference ?
Gloyale replied to SubaruJawn's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNope. Intake mountings are totally different because of the Phase II heads. You will need to swap the 99 Harness and sensors onto the 95 intake. IAC may be a stumbling point as the Phase II use a 5 or 6 wire setup, as opposed to the old 2 or 3 wire.

Hard Cold Start Issue
Gloyale replied to Stickboy42's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXCoolant Temp sensors are the ussual suspect for cold start issues in my mine. Though the OP in this thread states his was replaced.

Sometimes ABS sucks
Gloyale replied to CNY_Dave's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI believe that is speculation my friend. It definately would vary state to state. If you want to go down that road, and have the new laws passed, EVERY SINGLE MODIFICATION WE MAKE TO NON-COSMETIC SYSTEMS OF THE VEHICHLE IS ILLEGAL. In such that it alters factory emmisions and saftey equipment. (remember the laws apply only to MODIFICATION, regardless of whether it is an improvement) Say goodbye to independant tire stores, from now on.....dealer only........Yeah no thanks Remember that when you are about to put stainless brake lines on your 2000 RS. C'mon At any rate. The title of the thread is SOMETIMES ABS SUCKS. Definately true. Simple solution is to wire in a fuse and a 2 lengths of wire with spades on the end to a switch. Stick the spades into the ABS fuseholder, and it can now be disarmed (different than "DISABLED") momentarily when nessecary.

2.2 crankshaft pulley
Gloyale replied to monk50's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI would not go used for this. It's such a common failure that you are crapshooting with a used one. New OEM style(not underdrive aluminum) ones are available on EBAY for about 80 bucks. As noted ANY EJ crank pulley will work so find the cheapest new one you can.
