  1. :eek:Shhh this aint a bridge, its termites holding hands.
  2. I find that if you drive around to people remodeling houses, they just throw the old kitchen cabnets away. I have used these in my last few garage setups and they work great. The old kitchen conter makes a killer work bench as well.
  3. Anyone ever run this trail.
  4. I dont know if your new to subarus or not, but i would listen to what GD says. Forget about wht you know. Forget about almost everything you know about cars. These things are totally different. Its exactly like he said, this aint your daddys chevrolet.
  5. You could just lift it a bit.
  6. If you wanted to keep it simple im sure someone on here has a 5 speed 2wd tranny out of a loyle somewhere. You justneed to make sure and pick up the rest.
  7. Shoot if your giving him a few cheep parts do it. Infact give him the 3at out of the car, that way your almost there for the 5 speed swap.
  8. I can answer that. Its easier to go back. You can always get different wheels if you want to go back to stock suby 4 lugs if you just drill a cheep import wheel. But alittle more costly and permanent if you drill the backing plate.
  9. Having did the rear disc swap recently i did notice a tremendous difference between the drum and disc brakes. But ive slamed on my brakes and have been unable to lock them up. Theyve had a full bleed as well. Now if this is strictly a ea81 thing then thats a possibility because my ea82 doesnt seem to need it.
  10. The thing is, that the ps resevour is in the way. I know there are ways around this but it needs taken off anyways. The o ring is bad somewhere. Does anyone know what size o ring it takes on the bottom or side, or whever the darn thing leakes. But yes this and the cts sensor need cleaned up as well. Ben
  11. Try Here. http://www.sjrlift.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1
  12. I really need to do this as well. clean my iac and make sure my hoses arent clogged.
  13. Thats a great van. Those are the ones i wanted. Proven reliable drive train. AWD to boot. But my wife (grrrrr her choice) didnt like it because the passenger legroom up front and she thought it was ugly. I told her its much more then that and a van like that would last us a long time. Plus with a full size frame they were stouter then the other ones and they had a towing capasity. Well needless to say we pickedo a 05 caravan. Its been a decent rig but we dont have xtra room when we go on trips. The tranny is funny and has been funny in these cars since they were 1st introduced. Though the astro/safari is still classified as a minivan they are more macho then the front wheel drive cheepies. Congrats on the find.
  14. I hope that was an attempt to be sarcastic.
  15. rump roast. Im working on it.
  16. I forgot to ask what kind of car do you have. Do you have a single range or dual range 4wd. For me with the single range, when its engaged its planted. I cant spin the tires at all, it feels like its kinda kicked down a peg on power.
  17. lol im looking for a specific meaning.
  18. How did you modify that to fit on your GL
  19. I havent done it on the fly but yes you can.
  20. 133 THOUSAND MILES. Its dead, its so dead. Just send it to the Junkyard. Im kidding these engines are pretty stout and can get up to 300k with good maintenance. I have 209000 on mine right now. Youve got to find out where the coolant is going. Either its going in the engine out the tailpipe or its going out of the engine onto the ground. Do you smell coolant burning. Check the fins on your radiator, they have a tendency to clog or if to old become missing. Also check your heat output for possible clogged heatercore. Did you change out the thermastat as well. These cars like the oem subaru t-stats only. When you replaced the waterpump did you check out the hoses attached to it and see they were cracked. Do you have white exhaust smoke. Can you smell the coolant out of the tailpipe.
  21. For me, i just went on some gravel roads. Put it in 4wd when i felt the rear kick out a little i knew it was working. I wouldnt recoment tieing it up to a tree. If you have the single range it is vacume actuated. Listen closely when you engage it you should hear a whisp of air as the diaphram is actuated also.
  22. Obviously you want to talk care of the mechanical aspect first. Since we are coming up on cold weather i would worry about anything but engine and brakes until next spring. Your engine situation worrys me. How many miles are on your car. You need to check your cooling system out. Make sure its not clogged. But if your losing coolant you need to figure out why and where. You have the possibility of a leaky water pump, leaky hoses or worse head gasket leak. These dont go so often on these cars unless there turbos. But they do happen. Not to hard to do some say but its up to you. Check engine light comes on, you can run the codes to find out whats tripping it. Coolant temp sensor or idle air control valve have been known to make these engines run at high rpms when they are dirty or non functioning. Brakes for these cars are cheep but somewhat a pain in the butt to do. Requires screwing the caliper piston back into place instead of pushing it. If you have the means and you can score them you might want to get a set of rear disc brakes. Dont require much for the conversion but you stop (OH) so much better. Belts are easy, just take them off and show the parts guy at the counter. You dont have transmission fluid if you have a manual, you have gear lube. Check and find out where its running out of oil. Get your vehicle to run long enough to crawl underneath it and check for these leakes. Do some diggin on here and find guides and wrightups on what to look for and what to do. Timeing belts are another good thing. Make sure your 4wd is working. Lots of parts and help to be had on here. Welcome aboard and nice looking ride.
  23. Stop showing me how much fun your having, i want to have that kinda fun.
