get beefy bumpers (great place to use your high-lift) and skidplates to protect your engine....everything else is plenty tough....if you really want to, you could get/build a rear diff skidplate, but IMHO it's overkill....
  2. I have the Sylvania Silverstars...big help!! also, as said, adding aftermarket fog/driving lights is a huge help!
  3. For those who didn't konw....I just picked up The PoopenVagon, built by MorganM, Cared for, and modified some, by 95lwrx for the last few months.... Anyway, he had done the timing belt tensioners not long ago, so I didn't worry about it, but it turns out he made the same mistake I did the first time I did my own tbelts....didn't replace that idler.... And what it did to the drivers side belt... so remember, don't neglect that idler, it can wreak havoc on your motor!

well, I don't see much point, unless you're going to make an entire underbody skidplate, that's 1/4" thick stainless steel.....just a little tube right under the doors seems REALLY pointless to me, in my experience (buddy on the local wheeling club...with a cherokee), the sliders did more damage, cause he bent 'em at the mount, and it destroyed the body panel, and it wouldn't have otherwise....and we've got rocks up here!
  5. ???....that's the stock brat A-bar, he's had that on there since almost day one...and it's strong (stronger than that strap we tried to use....lol) it doesn't hurt the aproach angle more than the oil pan would, and it protects said oil pan...
  6. Yea....the shifter's sloppy, that's a common problem. Thought the lifted '88 wagon I just bought doesn't have this problem, I guess one of it's previous owners had a solution...more on that later or.....get used to it (sounds mean, but I'm serious, I did, most of my buddies can't find my 3rd gear....) yep, you can swap in the D/R, but it's a tranny swap, and you have to figure out linkage for the extra lever...other than that, it'll be very straightforward...just chuck out the vacuum actuated pushbutton crap...
  7. fast is almost never better....faster = more damage, and I'm not talking dents, I'm talking bent/twisted suspension, or in mud, hydrolocked engine... there was a guy in southern MN with some land that he charged for other people to come wheel on....called Roy's Playground....the MN DNR shut him down
  8. I beleive it didn't come with it....it's just an L, used to have a 1.8l, don't think it's got ABS either.

lol, that's what that little plastic trim piece on the door is for!
  10. hard to tell from those pics, but it looks like your camber's better already!
  11. yea, the EJ series engines use a very different engine management system, so the harness has to be changed at the ECU. that's why so much wiring has to be done. you can borrow some wires from other parts of the car, but essentially everything has to be redone...
  12. looks hot! a little rubbing is ok, just make sure it's not on anything sharp. if it's rubbing on the inside wheel well, where it's smooth, it's not really an issue, but if your catching the edge of the fender, it'll make quick work of those tires!
  13. or go get something with an auto and AWD.....an early legacy, for example.... yes, the legacy motor/tranny swap can be done, but it's kinda ugly...
  14. they won't look almost at all different.... look around, SJR, Noah, Tex, and Roundeye have 'em, just to name a few.
  15. sweet! did Kris help you do that? or did you find another place? looks beefy!
  16. you've also got a 6" lift, instead of just 4"...strut clearance isn't the issue on EA82's....body clearance is... Noah's got swampers on his DL, I'm sure he'll post a pic before too long
  17. I've heard great things about this, improves traction in virtually every condition, and helps reduce heat, and therefore wear, on road
  18. well, it is a matter of driver preferance, and conditions, but for the most part, especiallly in the case of subarus, wider tires are a bad thing. mostly just more stuff to push around....my vote would be what you're getting... also...did you get different rims? I thought you were running 15" alloys?
  19. Numbchux replied to DARKSTI's topic in Off Road
    um...money, time, parts availablility......that enough, that's why I haven't...

you're brakes are fine! as long as you've got 4 wheel discs, you won't need anything else. you're brakes are much better than mine, and I've had zero complaints about my brakes (well, as long as they're funcioning correctly)
  21. you still have sway bars?:-p:grin::eek:
  22. ^^ yep, and it's not [entirely] because of the tire, those rims aren't capable of much either
  23. make sure your ignition system is sealed, my old '85 would do that if it got too deep, and if I opened my hood, I could see the coil arcing to the strut tower. also check your disty...
  24. zap said they would work, period. it's just a matter of whether you use your impreza, or outback tops.
