  1. Yeah if you have worn brake pads then the wheels will fit fine but if you have new-ish pads than the calipers will hit on the spokes of the wheel
  2. Yup probably one of the few places you could pick one up! I did forget about that!! I've seen a few of those go bad so I bet nippers right!!!
  3. I had one! It was red and an '89 of course. I had it lifted and I bought it for $190 with a bad motor. The motor was knocking horribly and I drove it about 60 miles home at about 70 the whole way!!! It made it! I loved that car. It was the only rust free subaru I'd ever had and it went anywhere, but I was a dumb rump roast and sold it! Huge regret!!!
  4. It sounds pretty cool to me of course I would really be online only!
  5. Maybe cv's? I had a cv that wasn't making any real noise and the boot wasn't ripped but it would bind up every now and then? But your sounds a little different. :-\
  6. I remember when I pulled back the rugs on mine! NOT GOOD! I had to replace a lot of the floor! But better do it sooner than later! The longer you wait the worse it will get!!! I say we go out west and grab a few rust free shells!!!! Good luck with it!
  7. Done a couple on Loyales. Not that hard just use wire to cut the old one out and thoroughly clean the surface. Go buy some 3M caulk for installing windshields then put a fairly heavy bead down so that there will be no leaks then...with help...lay the new windshield in. Use small pieces if wood or plastic to space up the bottom so that the windshield trim will fit back in after the caulk has set up enough to hold the windshield in place. Hope this helps! I know its different on an EA81 car and might be a little different in a newer car but not sure! Good luck!
  8. I love mine and it when it was closer to stock form having it for a daily driver was awesome and reliable!! And I transported a 12k generator that weighed around 850lbs without any trouble at all! So I dunno what the others are really talking about with a 450 lb load having trouble? But that's just my experience!! But I also wouldn't do it often...its just not meant for it. They are a little quirky but hey that's part of the experience! I would also say that the EJ swap is the way to go even though I haven't done it but yeah close to double the power with a very reliable motor, how can you go wrong!! Oh and as far as GD's comment about them all being 4x4...I had a friend that had a Gen 1..can't remember exactly what year but it was a 2 wheel drive and was sold at the dealer new with a plow! Doesn't make a lot of since but just thought I'd throw that in. Anyways I would buy another brat in a second after owning mine for several years now. So go for it but take care of it!! And feel free to ask questions when it comes time to fix it!!
  9. Nope no pics?!?!
  10. I semi disagree with the part about them helping to stop faster...in my brat it made a huge difference! But maybe you experienced different?!
  11. Come to a junk yard in Maine that's all you see! Most are worse than that and in no way could you ever save them!
  12. Thats damn clean! I still have never personally seen one that old!
  13. Use a sledge hammer and hit the back of the tire with one of the lug nuts threaded back on a little
  14. If it were me.. I know a lot of people have a different opinion but I would pull the motor, honestly it would probably take me less time to tackle the job with pulling the motor. When the motor is out you can see everything and inspect everything, and there's nothing to get in the way!
  15. If you can get a tranny swap done for that little...do it but try for a dual range its the same tranny swap but the tranny is much better. I agree with GD about the motor but run it for now considering you just did work to it. And I also agree with him about being able to do the tranny swap cheaper myself but thats a good price if you are having someone else do it. I also second bleeding the brakes. Good luck!
  16. That guy can drive that was awesome!
  17. Hmmm, I put wrx suspension in my old '97 impreza I had and found the ride to be great and handling to be better as well, don't really know why they would be bad in a legacy??? Are you saying that the control arm is hard to move or the sway bar? Either way they are going to be pretty stiff. The control arm bushing will keep that pretty taught when disconnected and the sway bar is meant to be stiff. Hope this helps and sorry if I misunderstood:)
  18. What could safely be used as a spacer for the wheels? And how much?
  19. I know that the injectors will work.....its the same motor the tranny doesn't matter and I'm pretty sure the axles are the same as long as one isn't turbo. But I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
  20. I have the rear disc conversion on my brat and I have had to panic stop several times, and never has it stopped anything but dead straight even on wet or slippery surfaces! That was actually one of the things I was so impressed about after doing the conversion. I didn't change anything as far as proportioning valves nor did I add any! And I have used them with stock size and big tires.
  21. Thats funny! My first loyale which I converted to 5 spd d/r and lifted, I put close to 100,000 miles on after I bought it and I'm pretty sure the belts hadn't been done for a while before I got it. I beat the crap out of that car on and off road, I went almost 40,000 miles without changing the oil, and I never changed the belts or had them break! I sold it when I got a new car and two years later it was still going strong!! I have never had to do belts on any ea82 that I've owned! But I guess I was just really lucky!
  22. I second that! I don't have a clutch fan on my brat, just an electric and it never gets hot.
  23. That looks awesome! Thats something i'd like to do!
  24. I would see if they would make a deal saying that if it is something major like the diff than they will come good on it! Or if it doesn't "work itself out"
